Who knows.. we may have just strengthened our hand in that dept.
Ohio has a lot of really good players in this class we have a good shot at. Should be able to put a good class together.
Rowland put in a futurecast today for 4 star Martels Carter to UK.
Personally, I think he may see UK as his real opportunity to be Head Coach in the future. If he can spend another couple of years establishing his offense and system, he knows Stoops had a foot out the door. It was also no secret that the admin scrambled to keep him, White and Marrow in the fold once it looked like Stoops was leaving, so I think he sees that Mitch also has confidence in him to be an eventual replacement without actually going down the road of naming a Coach in Waiting.
Carter committing soon would be an excellent early linchpin along with Stone of the class to fill around. Really excited to see Wolford dive in using his now national info base of elite recruits.
'25 OL prospects Wolford is chasing are tremendously impressive. Of course, competition is intense.
Wolf was said to be in detroit recruiting yeaterday. Him and Marrow were gomna visit some of the Cincy area OL this week. He has sent out some major offers to some guys he was recruiting. One was the #1 OT in the class. Not that he can get a guy like that to UK but he is atleast trying
Looks like UK is hot on the heels of Kattus/Greene in Cincy among OL. Check out film on Michael Carroll, David Sanders(monster!), Dontrell Glover, Mason Short, Tyler Miller, Avery Gach. If somehow, someway UK could get just one of those guys I'd be happy. You're right, never know until you try but Wolford has fed on the first teat recently.
High level recruits on both sides of the ball. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple more surprise visits on the OL either. Hopefully we can nail down an OC by next weekend as well.
I doubt the OC search will move that fast. After 5 OC changes in 5 years, I expect Stoops will be more careful with this one unless a situation he can't refuse just falls into his lap. This is a good solid recruiting class and I have no doubt Coach Marrow is busting his butt to hold it together. The guys who signed in December are unlikely to leave, and Vandagriff has already said he is staying. But we have to be concerned about Stone Saunders.
I asked this on another thread but if things are still up in the air can Coen be an effective recruiter this weekend at JR Day ?
We should probably expect Saunders to be at least thinking about reopening his recruitment; however, with the right OC hire hopefully we can lock him back down.
Or the new OC has relationships with other top level 2025 QBs. Stone's a great prospect but keeping or losing him should be the least aspect of the new OC.
Coen interviewed with the Bears Jan 12, 3 weeks ago, I'm sure they called asking permission before that. Stoops had better have had informal feeling out conversations or networking starting then. Right now, Feb 3, he ought to have a good idea who is interested or not. This really shouldn't drag out more than a week or 10 days.

Don't forget UK has the ridiculous, arcane, archaic, completely BS 10 day waiting period on hiring. So instead of the new OC meeting his players and starting to get his system up and running he's sitting around twiddling his thumbs to satisfy some political wonk. Absurd.
I'd say Stoops already has someone in mind, probably has sent out feelers, despite some on here thinking he fell off a turnip truck last night.

OK, my bad. Good god. It's a dumb rule that COULD delay the new OC getting a grasp with the task at hand. Don't swim in minutiae.
It isn't minutiae. It's an every day occurrence on this board, which is swimming in negative misinformation about our football program and our school.
It may very well be that it will take some time to find the right OC; however, it seems there are a lot more interesting options out there this year compared to the last couple cycles. Hopefully whoever is hired won’t have to wait the 10 day job posting period, if that can be avoided.
If you notice(read) some national reporters it appears the search is already over? I do not think it will take long at all. Coach Stoops knew this was coming.
I have been searching for information about who is attending junior day at UK. So far this looks mainly like a KY-OH event but with a few other important visitors too.

I'm sure Stoops has already got a replacement in mind for Coen. Maybe they will tell some of the weekend visitors who it is (particularly those on the O side of the ball) and word will leak out.
I have to think they already told vandergriff who they have in mind since he said he is not going anywhere.
Let's get back to something constructive...who's your choice(s) to be UK's next OC? Mine are #1 Tommy Rees, #2 Buster Faulkner, #3 Jake Peetz.
