State of 2022 Recruiting

The state of Ky has produced some damn good SEC OL. Cox, Young, Burton, Drake, etc. (and those who went to Clemson and Bama)

And, now, Bingham and Goodwin.

When will the transfers sign?
There is not a signing date for transfers, but we can infer what they will be thinking. They need to sign scholarship papers, but that can be done anytime before or during enrollment. Theoretically, a college student can transfer anytime. In the case of football players, they will want to transfer in time for enrollment for the spring semester if possible, so they can practice with the new team in the spring. But some will transfer after the spring semester and enroll for the fall (like Rosenthal, Levis, and Jones last year).

If its about the immediate money Tucker & the MSU crazy billionaires are promising then the kid just needs to pull a Quentin Euers Ohio St move.

Go MSU a semester, collect Tucker dirty cash, then hit the portal Dec 2022 and be what he in his heart wants to be: starting LT for the Big Blue Wall.

Ewers money came from a company in his home town

He has already taken all five. KSR reported that he wouldn't decide today because he couldn't decide between Kentucky and Michigan State which he's taking multiple visits to both

Ok. Thought he had one more. Did he EVER take an official to UK? I know he visited, just didn't see an official for this season

Goodwin did not take an official visit to UK. But he has taken multiple unofficial visits to Lexington and attended multiple UK football and basketball games in the six years UK has recruited him.

I don't think we should sugar coat this. UK has been recruiting Goodwin since he was in middle school, and he knows UK's staff and facilities very well. This delay certainly doesn't mean he won't eventually sign with UK. But it doesn't help. There isn't much more he can learn about Stoops' program, and not much more Marrow, Wolford, and Stoops can do to convince him. Maybe the kid just needs to settle down and sort things out. But when a player this far along in his recruitment, with a verbal commitment in place for eight months, hesitates at the last minute and can't stand by his commitment, that generally means another school has closed the gap and convinced him to hold off. It doesn't even necessarily have to be MI St either. It could be another school that made room for Goodwin in the last 24 hours and stepped up their pursuit of him at the last minute. These things happen with highly sought prospects. UK probably has nothing to gain by this delay. UK's chances to sign Goodwin are not helped. No point in thinking otherwise.

Are the Nicholson & Albert actions connected?
Nicholson is a DB. Albert is a slot receiver. So I don't think so.

But Nicholson's flip has been widely anticipated for weeks, and leaves a void that might get filled by juco Zahquan Frazier if our coaches can sign him. With Yusuf Corker, Tyrell Ajian, Quandre Mosely, and Cedric Dort graduating, we could really use more experience in our secondary. I think Stoops is looking for transfers there too.

Whatever became of the 4 star Alabama CB in the portal? Was/is there any mutual interest there?

Has that been decided with Albert yet. Supposedly a standout safety as well.

Albert is widely listed as an ATH. Most programs have recruited him as a receiver because he has Power 5 level skills at adjusting and catching the football even when it is thrown outside of his radius or over his head. But he also played CB in hs and could be used as a DB if there is a compelling need. I assume Liam Coen wants him as a receiver who will be a threat to gain yardage in space ATC, especially if Wandale leaves. But that could be wrong.

Roman Harper commenting just now on star ratings on the SEC Channel-

"It's not about how you get there. It's about what you do when you get there."

Gene Chizik on Stoops' recruiting-

"He looks for a body type, hard work, and intelligence. Then he keeps them there and develops them to be their best. The more he wins, the better he recruits, instead of the other way around."

I haven't heard it said better than that.

Chiz made a great pitch for Stoops.

Coen on Kattus:

“Josh is very similar to the guys that we have in the program now, with Brendan Bates and Justin Rigg. He and Batesy knew each other. They’re very similar: tough, physical, relentless blockers, great hands, good feel for the game. His Dad played at a high level in football. His Dad’s massive. The kid’s brothers are massive. He’s going to be massive. He’s just a great kid, the type of kid Kentucky fans are going to really love and enjoy because all he does is want to put his head through the wall for you and work his tail off. A great kid, smart kid, comes from a great family as I mentioned and we’re really excited to have Josh in our program.”

"Kentucky continues to impress me because I still see an ascending program there."

"Yes, I really love what Mark Stoops is doing."
