Sources...Satterfield Out

One would think UC could do better but maybe they can't. I'm trying to think of the positives for Cincy here and I'm not seeing a lot. I guess Satt can give you 6-8 wins a year and is respected in coaching circles and by his players. He's also a nice guy. But that's it. The recruiting is all Clarkson, Adidas, and NIL and he's about as exciting as a glass of tap water. We're sad he's leaving and Louisville fans are celebrating the departure, so, um, good hire, Cincinnati?

He is not respected by a lot of his former Louisville players, many have been very vocal on twitter today.

With their recent history of success and their history of having pretty good upcoming coaches. This seems like a tough gig for Satterfield. I wouldn't imagine he gets a very long leash to start producing.

I guess but that's usually how these things go. I get it from the player's perspective, but in most cases, they're the last to know, which is why I always think about how awkward the final team meeting is to "tell the players" when social media has already been talking about it for a couple hours.

SIAP.... but is this why Brian Hartline didn't take the Cincy job and they ended up hiring Satterfield?

you saying Hartline would rather be the OC at OSU rather than the Head Coach at Cincy? I know OSU can pay an OC a hefty salary, but pretty sure a head coaching gig at a soon to be Power 5 program a year off a playoff berth could pay quite a bit more.

Not 100 percent but basically that is what I was thinking. That guy bleeds OSU.

I wasn’t talking about the players currently on the team although from what I have heard is they were pissed also when Satt zoomed called them. All of his assistant coaches also found out on twitter this morning and supposedly then got a zoom call also.

I don’t think there is anyway to sugarcoat taking the UC job from UL though. UL’s fans gave up on him so he felt like it would be a better career/money move to bounce and get 6 years with a better buyout.

It also doesn’t seem like he is close to any of these assistants. They are basically all mercenary coaches.

Players have essentially become mercenaries too. Not that I blame them coaches have been that way for a long time

B Hartline made like $30 million in the NFL. He might in fact be financially set enough to stay home and not chase big salaries.

I’m just trying to understand how he “made” them tweet anything. Honestly this seems like a person with beef crapping on Satt. He never took off to the next level under Satt and his brother transferred after 1 year.
He played well enough to be drafted, not sure why you are attempting to refute his personal experience with assumptions

I assume someone knows who this Dez person is & GAS
You gave enough crap to make a post about it, and he is a former player under Satterfield, not sure why you are hurt someone posted his experience with the person this exact thread is about

Thin skinned much?

I think his personal experience is fine to tweet out but you suggested Satterfield was a crap person based off one former players tweet as well. There are 2 sides to every story. I just find it silly that any coach in this day and age could “make” a player tweet anything.

That is indeed actions of a crap person. I'm not here to split hairs. I posted a tweet. Move on with your life

Ok well I hope you never move jobs. And you did more than post a tweet you called him a crap person for how he handled it.

Honestly I don’t care anymore there is no more loyalty in CFB, so I find it rich that anyone (including former players) is calling out anyone about moving to a more advantageous contract or deal.

Well, I'm never going to be a head football coach with a roster of 85 impressionable young men that more than likely attended a school to play for me, so me telling someone I'm leaving has little to no affect on anything.

"Puts in perspective the type of person Cincinatti just hired"

Yeah because I outright called him a p.o.s

Good grief

Think we will just have to agree to disagree. As I still fail to see how any coach could force a player to tweet anything.

Given he was the one with the power over the players playing time, and scholarships, I don't see how it's hard to believe

The situation in question was after the regular season was over and Dez was going to the draft. He only had a bowl game left so I fail to see any power Satterfield could have over him for playing time and scholarships.

I'm also leaning on Dez exaggerating the situation quite a bit

So funny how hard they spin. All 2019 was nothin but stories of how Satt was the greatest players coach in the history of CFB. He invited players to his office! He had players over to his home!!

Now he is an insecure tyrant forcing players to tweet things positive about him

Regarding Jeff Brohm - when is the last time a college team fired a guy, threw him under the bus, and then hired him back at a higher position? For those who don't remember, Jeff Brohm was fired as OC by UL during the Kragthorpe years.

In retrospect, they obviously fired the wrong guy and Jurich and most of his cronies are gone, but how do you come back from that? Further, if you're Brohm, do you want to go in there knowing they disrespected you and your family once already?

Everyone involved in that situation are no longer at Louisville as they were fired or moved on to another place. If Jurich was still the AD then I don’t think Brohm would even get a chance to come to Louisville.

Scott satterfield just left for Cincinnati!

Per Pete Thamel...they play each other in the Fenway bowl! Breaking news
Hahaha I wonder if their vaunted class will leave now and join him? This is fantastic although I wish he would have stayed 10 more years I don’t want them to hire anyone decent.

Per UofL fans Deion really messed up by not being patient enough so they should just go get Urban Meyer now.
On the real Deion was rumored for way better jobs than Colorado no idea why he took the POS program. They haven’t won a conference game in like 10 years lol.

What scares me is he goes there, I think the ACC division that Louisville is in is about as comparable , maybe a tad weaker than Purdues. If he can land some recruits paired with the 12 team playoff, my fear is he gets Louisville in the playoffs. I think Brohm to Louisville would be a nightmare for us UK fans. I hope it doesnt happen for my own sanity
He isn’t getting them to a 12 team playoff with 5 losses a year.
