Sources...Satterfield Out

Not sure that the AD and Brohm on good terms.
I’m gonna say they get Lance Leopold from Kansas and he does quite well there. That man just wins everywhere he goes
Leipold just agreed to a new extension at Kansas. He's not going anywhere. He didn't show much interest recently in the Nebraska or Wisconsin job so he sure wouldn't Louisville.

Purdue plays in the most garbage division in football but there's no way purdue would ever win the entire B1G. But Luke fickell just joined the garbage division.

The ACC has a sinking Clemson who looks to be good but not great anymore. Maybe Brohm will end up at uofl.

They do but they can focus on more than one thing. With satterfield the city and start was ours. Now it will be a fight again. That eats into resources as well as losing some key guys down the road.

Doubt what you want. They wanted to fire him even with the resurgence. He was smart to leave before they did it

Not sure on the hire. Guess we will see. They have as much money as they want for coaches and nil. So it will definitely be an attractive job
You lost me in the last line. They have as much money as they want?

Division play in the Big 10 goes away after next year when USC and UCLA join.

Jeff Brohm has basically had a .500 record overall in 6 years at Purdue and a losing B1G conference record. Let's not assume Purdue is going to throw many extra millions annually at him to stay-- he's not Nick Saban.
Yeah his overall isn’t necessarily overwhelming but it’s Purdue and they’re in the citrus bowl. They’ll keep him in the environment that exists now. And while he drops some games his teams have won some big ones so they at least feel like they have a shot going into games against the big 10 elites.

Like I posted weeks ago, imo Adidas wasn't going to let him coach that class. They wanted him gone.

Expect a fairly splash hire because they are willing paying a fortune.

Not a good development for us.

I'm surprised you would say that. I thought you were more competitive by nature.

I think it DOES help us. If we want to get better as a football program, we need less cupcakes on the schedule, and even our ONE OOC P5 matchup has proven to be JUST THAT. To be honest I think we played that last game too much like we played Vandy. Sure some of the players were up for it, but there wasn't the foot on the throat rivalry fire that we saw last season. Not having that game seen as a challenge is dangerous for us as a program, and it lost its luster.

We needed to stop measuring ourselves by the UL game and start measuring up to the SEC only, and this season had to come at some point so we would do that.

We have to take every game with a chip on our shoulder and now a target on our backs. No one is looking at UK as an automatic win anymore, so we have to be ready for OTHER SCHOOLS playing UP to beat us. That's what UGA has to deal with every year and every game. We can't get to that level until we can handle that level of pressure and expectation.

We can't get to that level until we put our foots on the THROATS of teams like UL, NIU, Vandy, OM, USC, and MSU. Time to take it up another notch. (We also need to be ready for another ticket price hike once we get there.)

Adidas recruits for UofL now.

Don’t be so sure about that…

Satterfield was the perfect fit for UK. He was never going to be good enough that we had to really put resources towards beating him on the field or on the trail. Depending on their hire, that will change.

Do I still think we will best them on the field and on the trail? Yes but it won't be as easy as it was.

I’m trying to think of a metaphor for the disappointment Cincinnati fans must feel having gone from thinking they were getting Deion Sanders and winding up with Scott Satterfield. The best I can think of is when Elton John backed out of Eric Cartman’s AIDS benefit concert and they got Jimmy Buffett instead.

Smart move. Almost everyone wins at cincy.

Louisville would have fired him if not for the better finish to this season.

I'll say it again, I do not think the Purdue fan base (and I have a good sense of them being in the Big 10 here with Iowa) would feel horrible about losing Brohm-- despite backing into the B1G West title this year. That tells you something doesn't it?

I think Satterfield believes going to the Big12 will be an easier route to the playoffs when it goes to 12 teams, so he made the move. Now for Brohm, no idea if he would be interested, but if he wants to realistically coach in the playoffs he will look for an easier route. Even this year after playing for the Big10 title he wouldn't have gotten in the 12 team playoff. ACC will get 1, maybe 2 teams in, but he won't have to beat the Big10 teams. IF CU can play Dabo 11m with their TV contract, Louisville can pay 9m. If they want him.

So from what I have read so far Satterfield wanted a 4 year extension and a raise and Louisville said no. Heard they offered like a 2 year extension. Back when Satt was on the hot seat we were told the recruiting class wasn’t tied to Satt if he was fired. On the flip side we were also told most wouldn’t want to play for Brohm either.

Personally I don’t want Brohm as he isn’t much better than Satt in my opinion. He had a chance to come home before Satt was hired and turned down that offer. If Brohm is hired it will be interesting to see what happens with the recruiting class and I am sure there will be decommits.

Guess Mitch B is the only AD willing to throw money at a coach with a losing conf record.

I saw coen beign a candidate for you all I laughed, just imagine if Deion were still available he would have killed it at Louisville

You may be right and certainly would have a better feel than I do. That being said, I would like to know what it is that they think they’re going to do there. In Kentucky we’re in a challenging recruiting position ourselves relative to other conference schools but my goodness Lexington beats West Lafayette to death. That campus has its challenges.

People sure don't remember the bad treatment and end of Jeff & Greg Brohm at Louisville. Not to mention what Kragthorpe did to Brian's draft prospects.

Maybe it happens. But don't assume UL has this special fond feeling with that family anymore.

Interesting perspective because to me Brohm is easily the better coach than Satterfield and can recruit Louisville. Looks like it would be a major upgrade to me.
