I'm not even pissed at Sharpe. Kid made a smart business decision and is profiting from it. Good for him.

I'm pissed at Calipari. He's supposed to be representing the UNIVERSITY'S best interests. Taking Sharpe on for a semester only for him to go pro and never play a minute does nothing for the University or the fans. Calipari is a piece of shit for this because this was the plan all along and he intentionally misled the fanbase by giving us hope he would one day play. That was never the case.

Why?
What, exactly, has it cost you or anybody you know? Has it hurt the team in any way?

I don't get it. So he rides the bench and never plays. Who cares. So some company gives him money to do nothing. So what. You're mad about literally nothing happening.
IF, which is the key word, he never plays here, it will make Cal and the program a laughing stock. Hell, I’m a lifelong fan and even I think it’ll make him and the program look like a laughing stock. Imagine what the media and others programs will think and say. The UK basketball program cannot be seen as just a training ground for the NBA, at least not even more than it already is.

Do you realize how selfish it is when you want a KID to play now and risk injury and millions or even hundreds of millions of dollars for a year or year and a half, just so he can play at YOUR school? Especially when he's a potential top 5 pick THIS year, and has a chance of falling to a later pick or even later round if he has an injury or has a rough season? I.e Brandon Boston?

Say you had a business idea that you had been dreaming of your entire life, and started your own company. You had incredible outlook, and you had investors ready to invest in your company and guide you through the process; enough to lock up financial security for your entire future, and you'd be a guaranteed millionaire in half a year. The one caveat being that the outlook of your business has to be as good as it is currently - waiting half a year has no adverse affects on it. But trying to start up and run everything on your own could potentially ruin your business idea.

Are you going to honestly sit here and tell me that you would risk that business? To play for free for a school for 2-3 months?

This isn't a Diallo situation. It's a little above that paygrade.

Would I like if he played for Kentucky? Absolutely. But am I going to talk down on a kid program for what they're doing to secure their future? Absolutely not
Damn Cal has you bought alllll the way in. Cal is a master salesman and look no further than this. Before Cal got here our fans would laugh in your face if you said that. Before Cal even got here nobody thought it was selfish for players to play. Every player who is on the team and playing in games, practices, etc is knowingly taking the risk of injury. Are we selfish for watching these guys risk their bodies for us? They should probably all sit down and save their futures right?

Damn, I wish I could remember who kept insisting (repeatedly) that he would DEFINITELY not be eligible. I repeatedly said, if he wants to be eligible, his people will find a way. And if he wants to leave after this year, he will.
For the last time....The CBA doesnt allow for loopholes or dates etc. He is not eligible for the draft this year. Mark the topic dead. He can go play g league etc though if he chooses, but no draft. Mark it down.
Found it! How about now @Cal-4-Three

I actually don’t care if Calipari wants to start Cals Camp for NBA dreams, and call players like Sharpe or any other none and dones want to come and practice and learn and never play a game. They can hang out all they want.

just don’t lie about it

If anyone is irritated, they shouldn’t be. For starters, the details of Sharpe’s educational record are none of our business.

Secondly, Cal is legally prohibited from sharing that publicly unless he first received written permission that explicitly authorized him to do so. So even if he wanted to make it known, Cal’s hands were tied.
Hmm, seems ridiculous but you know what you're talking about. However, the wording of the leaked info was not very favorable. I suspect both parties, UK and Sharpes camp decided mutually to hide this. If so, my opinion of Cal hasn't changed much.

Now that this revelation has leaked ie the Cat’s out of the bag in that Ky is saying they knew he was eligible for the draft all along Cal could be forced to play him, especially if his intent is on hauling after the season or risk pissing alot of the wrong people off.

If he doesn’t play then what he’s doing and what Cal has done is wrong to the program, fanbase, NIL money, boosters, etc

it’s not okay. Some of you act like Cal can’t do any wrong and whatever he spoon feeds us should be treated like nectar from the gods
Absolutely agree........no wonder the great Cal never had much to say about Sharpe
Again, showing total disrespect to the UK fans
Yet, there will be those that bow at his feet & talk of his greatness

If it plays out that Sharpe never plays a game for UK & heads for the draft, this will tarnish what ever this
current group accomplishes.
Totally unfair that Sharpe get the NIL $ & Oscar gets nothing

I was wrong earlier. THIS is the dumbest post I’ve ever read. Congrats!

How many people are wrong about this, my God it might be most the site. I knew it all along he would find a way to go pro next year.

I don’t see how any of this is Calipari’s fault, you recruit the best players simple as that. Don’t like it? Moreheads that a way

If anything, this makes Calipari look incredibly slimy. I wanted to give Cal the benefit of the doubt when he came here, but this pretty much confirms it.

You DON'T recruit a player when you KNOW he has no intention of ever suiting up and playing ball. Who the hell would do that?

Cal can't force him to play.

This may be the dumbest post ever. You do realize this is a board that is supposed to consist of KY basketball fans? If your take is correct, why is he even here? Why practice? Why did Cal allow him to come? This isn’t the soup kitchen/YMCA for people waiting to hangout and train.
Anyone with this take is not a fan of this school you’ve been brainwashed.

I wouldn‘t be surprised if Pearl had something to do with the leaked info. We will be very lucky if lightening doesn‘t strike the Auburn arena on Saturday. I know a giant black cloud will definitely be hovering above.

come on, be realistic, take off the blue shades

If your employer brought someone aboard & paid him, but he never came in, never did any work & made mor $ than you, would you have the same feelings......I highly doubt it
This is a slap in the other players face, especially Oscar

If Sharpe doesn’t play for UK at all, it will be very hard to support Cal going forward. That will be completely inexcusable as the team we would then be left with next year is likely fringe top 25. Unacceptable at UK.

Why does it Calipari look slimy just because Sharpe can go pro next year? You rather Sharpe have gone to Arizona so they can kick our ass?

Damn, some of you guys just enjoy being miserable. One source says he’s eligible and you come up with all kind of evil scenarios.
Yep, we are all miserable and just cant stand being alive. You cracked the code. Totally not mad at whats been going on with our program since 2016.

Sharpe won't play. Don't delude yourself. And he SHOULD play this season for UK to get some benefit from the money and resources they've spent getting him here. He SHOULD play because he would mean the difference between what we are now, a SS team, and what we could be, a FF team.

But he won't play because his draft status is already secured, and because he doesn't want to risk injury. And because he's already sampled some of that sweet, sweet NIL money, courtesy of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the University of Kentucky's reputation.

And Cal is fine with that, because Cal cares about Draft Night more than he cares about winning.

And don't give me that nonsense about where Sharpe would find minutes. Not until you go back and look at all the players who have played who aren't as good as Sharpe seems to be.

Sharpe is the #1 recruit and now he's a myth. And Cal was riding the crest of the "I LANDED A TOP RECRUIT" wave and now the whole thing is a fraud because Sharpe won't play.

And CALIPARI KNEW that Sharpe was gone next year. He KNEW he was eligible and DELIBERATELY kept that information hidden from the public. HE LIED.

The next time he 'lands' a top recruit, the questions will be, "Is he going to play or not?" And "What did Cal know and when did he know it?"

It's time for Cal to hit the door. I no longer want him here.
Get over yourself. Kentucky has a great tram this year. Enjoy it. Who cares if Shaedon goes to the draft. Kentucky will still be good next year. Quit being an entitled little b*tch

Incorrect. 19 in May, draft is in June. Easy Peasy getting the necessary graduation date on the forms to make it happen.

People really think this guy enrolled early to go to college an extra half year, or to get a head start on practice? Dude is getting his NIL, living the rock star life at UK for a few months, and going pro this summer.

Sucks, but this is what CBB has become.

How will it make UK a laughing stock? UK didn't give Sharpe a dime. He just sits at the end of of the bench.

If this kid leaves for the NBA after leaving high school early, only practicing with UK for a month or so, can make a ton of money with the NIL, can get drafted in the top 10-15, who can blame him? It is the system we have now called "college basketball".
Players in both football and basketball are using the NCAA like some free agency in pro sports. Come get your NIL, leave high school early, practice with the team and get drafted. What a system we have.
What is really a joke is how the NCAA and schools refer to these kids as "student-athletes".

Will we ever have see another players jersey hung in the rafters? Does anyone still care about tradition? Does anyone besides me miss Senior Night where they sing MY Old Kentucky Home and everyone is crying?
College sports is all about business and players making money. UK basketball is just a tool for players to use to benefit themselves. It is not just UK basketball being done this way; it is all over in both major sports.

I had a conversation with my wife over the weekend about maybe selling all my UK memorabilia. She was stunned at first. I like to think I have a very nice collection of stuff from the 40's thru nowadays. Not shit you buy in some Walmart or Fanatics store on the internet. When she asked me why would I think this I told her that my idea of leaving all this to my two daughters for my grandkids does not mean as much now; that kids today do not understand UK basketball like I do and have the love we have for it. It is all flash and sparkle now.

When I watch Wheeler play I remember days watching guys like Dicky Beal; small, fast, and just love playing. Wheeler knows he will never see the NBA and is enjoying playing in college. TyTy is really good. Super glad he is playing for UK but honestly, will he ever be remembered in 10 years from now like we remember old UK players?
If this Sharpe kid plays, OK, just another nail in the coffin of what used to be college basketball. Will anyone really consider him a UK player if he leaves this year? So why get all upset? It is what we have these days.

If this works out for the kid, odds are there will be others to follow. I can't put all the blame of Coach Cal. He is only doing what others are doing these days.
It is a business not a sport anymore.
No matter what, I will cheer my Cats on whomever they are. Just don't see much new stuff being added to my collection unless we win a National Championship.
