I agree. So what does this change going forward? It now means he is definitely going to “declare” (test waters, etc, as any player that is eligible should). We need to root harder now for him to play this year because odds are, he may not be able to play at a “top 5 pick” level, adding to the very small chance he comes back next year, and if he DOES play at that level, then we are hanging #9. With all the fanfare from UK social media (“Welcome Shaedon,” posting jersey numbers, etc) I think he is likely to play, and that is solely comparing the fanfare coming in for Diallo.

If he’s projected as a top pick in the nba draft and doesn’t leave, then he’s too stupid to play for uk.

It could but that really isn't the important thing. We need to keep things in perspective from Cals point of view. If Sharpe leaves he's another "recruit" that Cal has "helped" get to the NBA, you know, the thing that really drives Cal and Sharpes contracts will add into Cals goal of helping his players make 2 billion.

I agree with you that the kid should play, unless it interrupts the chemistry with the team.I'm not ready to get rid of Cal over it but if the kid bolts for the NBA and didn't play this year, then someone needs to answer some questions, especially if the kid could have helped us.

I think there is a correlation between the revelation the last few games that we need sharpe now and this news tbh. I think sharpe plays and goes pro. We are thin at guard since Allen is a non factor. Grady is a great shooter but has trouble getting to the basket. We need a slasher type a guy who is a swing player. Sharpe at 6’6” fits the mold. He’s probably gonna play soon maybe Saturday even depending on Grady
If Sharpe isn't going to play, he shouldn't be on the bench. Period. He shouldn't be allowed to secure NIL deals as a University of Kentucky athlete, he shouldn't be allowed to travel with the team. We're getting nothing out of him being here and he's getting everything. Fuhk that.

Based on his post history the OP also thinks the government can control the weather, so take these opinions very seriously
1. Brooks is not a SF in any universe. Hell he's a PF that can't dribble or shoot 3's today.
2. Toppin is a PF...and he can guard SF but his offensive limitations are so massive....you can't score with him a the SF.
3. Again...Livingston is a PF and even if you move Livigngston to SF...who plays PF
4. Frederck is the only dude who can play SF you mentioned. And he's gong to be a shoot only and maybe serviceable defender at the SF. He can't dribble and create much at all.
5. The only guy you dind't mention is Allen...Allen is a shoot only dude with limited handles.
So no, we don't have much at the SF if Sharpe moves on.

To me it's only frustrating if the kid doesn't play in either one of the two years.
It would irritate the hell out of me if we lose in the tournament this season with Sharpe, the number 1 recruit, sitting on the bench. I would blow a gasket if he then decides to not come back next season.
To me it's either/or. If he wants to play in the NBA next season, play this season. Maybe lead us to a title. If that happens I'm sure no one here or anyone in the UK fanbase will care much if he bolts.
But to not to either....yeah.
Highly unlikely as playing poorly could drop him in the draft and outside of leading KY to #9 won’t improve it.
I mean, I just don't get what there is to be all that upset about. Do I want him to play? Sure, but I don't think it's worth the burn the village response that some seem to be going with. He has value even if he doesn't score in a game. It is much less than him scoring in a game, but it is still value.
If he took a scholarship from someone that we might have gotten for 2022/2023 then that might change my mind, but if Cal knew this was likely his plan then I don't see how/why he couldn't communicate that to recruits before they committed and signed with other teams.
