The action in this thread rivals the best soap opera on tv. WWE should hire their writers from here, **** All My Children.
Okay, I’ll have a look.It was the Tennessee game. Sharpe gets up to check in. Cal points him back to the bench then gives him a little nudge back to the bench while whispering something to him and they start laughing. It seemed to insinuate that at some point he would play. I don't know the actual time stamp but it was around the last group to check in and it was around 3:00 EST. I'm sure its easy to figure out the actual time frame based on when the game started.
We’ll now that you’re here it’ll be even more dramatic. The action in this thread rivals the best soap opera on tv. WWE should hire their writers from here, **** All My Children.
Also it was in the game thread. All you have to do is search up "Sharpe check in" in the search bar. A few people posted about it.Okay, I’ll have a look.
Uh noooo? I ain’t about any damn drama. That’s for women and Tinkerbells. I need the action, son. Step up. Be explosive. We’ll now that you’re here it’ll be even more dramatic.
I did read, and answered. You think Cal is going to tell us he demanded it and SS refused? No way. He will protect the situation.Wow you didn't even read my post.
Let me spell it out more slowly.
IF
SHARPE
REFUSES
TO
PLAY
NOW,
AND
CAL
ALLOWS
IT,
SHOULD
CAL
BE
HELD
ACCOUNTABLE
I think due to our lack of ball handlers and facilitators we tried to use Askew and Mintz in a 2 PG system. Allen really can't provide anything as a secondary ball handler and at the time when the season started most people believed that Askew would provide a higher ceiling as far as ball handling goes. I don't think anyone would argue that.Be careful with this, as you’re also acknowledging that Askew was not the necessary PG all year. That’s the argument against Allen getting more run last year. That Allen isn’t a point guard. Well if we acknowledge that Askew primarily played shooting guard, that argument falls apart.
We are then back to square one. What did Askew do to earn major minutes as a two guard over Allen?
I don’t really care to get into this and rehash it all. Just making the point that every argument I’ve heard has been disingenuous. Except when you simply said, “Askew did not earn his minutes.” Which I agree with.
Bucs -- who cares where he goes if he doesnt play ? It's been spilled that he knew he was draft ready for next year , so this year its his only shot at seeing a court .. its not like he told Cal " I'm not playing " and then tells Coach B " ok I'll play your school " Thats not reality .So you are the coach. You sign the number one player in the class in the Fall. He decides to come to campus early to practice, but doesn’t want to play this season. You tell him thanks for signing, but you can’t come here this season unless you play this season. So the kid goes to another school. Man, that’s a genius move if I ever saw one.
Well.....as it stands Cal isn't playing him and somewhere out there he would get minutes.....lets use Memphis as an example.....he could have just went to Memphis and played immediately.Bucs -- who cares where he goes if he doesnt play ? I’m just going by what Cal has said in his pressers and haven’t jumped to the conclusion that Sharpe and Cal are both bold face liars using the program. Are you running all the possibilities through your head, or just the ones that fit your agenda?
He would be playing at his other options if I had to guess because Penny Hardaway doesn't care to just throw him out there and try to figure it out on the fly.Who cares if he goes to another school if he's not playing?
I haven’t seen any evidence that supports your position either.Your premise assumes facts not in evidence.
There is no evidence Cal didn't know ahead of time that Sharpe wouldn't play.
You also forgot to finish your own scenario...kid goes to another school WHERE HE DOESN'T PLAY.
Try again.
My question stands. If Cal tells Sharpe to go in and Sharpe refuses, will he treat him like he did Hagans? If not, how should Cal be held accountable?I did read, and answered. You think Cal is going to tell us he demanded it and SS refused? No way. He will protect the situation.
Hey Ryan -- I'm having a GREAT day , slept in til 830 , hot tub , avocado -egg-toast at 10 ( no judgement please or I'll sic gassy on you) made a big roaring fire in my fireplace . Just cracked open a smooth double hopped hazy IPA ... and I'm still in my Pj's !! LOL.Well.....as it stands Cal isn't playing him and somewhere out there he would get minutes.....lets use Memphis as an example.....he could have just went to Memphis and played immediately.

I will reserve my judgement until after the facts.
You guys may very well be right, but I will wait until after Sharpe bolts to be outraged.
I roll, I just don’t get ticked off about what could possibly happen, I wait until the facts come out before I get upset.
Actually, Kyle Tucker said that Cal knew about Sharpe's draft status all along.I haven’t seen any evidence that supports your position either.
I am just in wait and see mode as usual. I reserve judgement until after it is all said and done.
You may very well be right, but we don’t know.
When Sharpe declares for the draft after never playing a minute, then I will join you in your outrage.
Until then, I am just trying to enjoy the season, watching the guys who are actually playing rather than crying about the ones who aren’t playing and probably never will.
The most mins blowing thing about all of this to me is the amount of people who believe Sharpe will be here next year. Have they not seen how this plays out every year?
But…but… Cal and Sharpes mommy said so. Lol.
This is like Charlie Brown and Lucy with the football.
I hope he plays this year, we need him and this is the best we can hope for.
I believe Cal is waiting to play him yes. I don't know why and I don't neccessarily agree with that decision but when you are winning games and your team looks like one of the final 4 contenders then it make make you a little weary to change up the dynamic and chemistry of the team. Coaching basketball at a high level is about more than just the ability to see who can dribble a ball. 75% if it is managing relationships and emotions.Hey Ryan -- I'm having a GREAT day , slept in til 830 , hot tub , avocado -egg-toast at 10 ( no judgement please or I'll sic gassy on you) made a big roaring fire in my fireplace . Anyway that scenario makes zero sense .. are you inferring Cal wants to play him but SS is kinda refusing ? if thats the case send the kid packing . If he wants to play and Cal wont even give him 3-5 minutes to see what happens ? Then he's the dumbest coach ever . End the drama , play the kid .. Basketball isn't Physics or Chemistry .. if a dude can ball a dude can ball . He's doesn't need coddled . Top 5 pick in the draft but we seem hesitant to throw him into the fire ? BS . Carry on !
You do know Diallo didn't leave because he couldn't get a first round guarantee? He said that in an interview when he was in the NBA.The only other player we had in this exact scenario was Diallo. Please remind me how that played out again?
Please enlighten me on how “this plays out every year,” considering the situation with Sharpe will be only the second such situation in Cal’s tenure.
I’m talking about when he recruited the kid and he announced for us. Cal knew he would be eligible for the draft once he reclassed and joined early, but not when he was recruiting him.Argument to the middle is a logical fallacy.
And we have Tucker's report that Cal knew Sharpe would be eligible. So much for your theory.
If Cal subs him in, and SS refuses, Cal should remove SS from the team. In your world where this happens, and we know about it, and Cal allows SS to remain on the bench, then I will say Cal needs to be reprimanded by Mitch in whatever way Mitch chooses. Should he be fired, not even close. Will I be happy about it, not at all. If I were Mitch, what would my action be? Well, I guess I would maybe choose to fine him - what else you gonna do? And the fine doesn’t mean shit. But again, this is a fantasy world we’re talking about here. But I can see from your other posts, you hate Cal, so you have an agenda. I don’t hate Cal, and I’m not a Cal nut hugger either, so I can only tell you what I already have. I think SS should play; I think if cal tells him to play and he refuses, he should be removed from team. Don’t know what else to tell you. But - you’re asking this question to @BlueWorldOrder74 - and I’m just a fan of the university of Kentucky, nothing more.My question stands. If Cal tells Sharpe to go in and Sharpe refuses, will he treat him like he did Hagans? If not, how should Cal be held accountable?
LOL!Actually, Kyle Tucker said that Cal knew about Sharpe's draft status all along.
And your scenario of Sharpe going to another school doesn't hold water. Try again.
Keep your head in the sand. It's fans like you who lap up everything Cal says at face value that allow him to continue to oversee the program's decline. He's two steps ahead of your type all day.
Really? I seem to remember you acting like a 12 year old & calling me a troll on The Lair bc I had a different opinion than you. Nothing I said was indicative of trolling. In 20+ years of posting here I’ve never, not even one time, been called a troll by anyone else here. You just didn’t like my opinion & resorted to name calling & now you’re trying to act all morally superior to @kyjeff1 when you did the same thing you’re accusing him of. So, yeah, you know exactly what it’s like to insult ppl for thinking differently.I don't know what it is about guys like KyJeff where they feel like have to insult everyone who views a situation differently than them. Someone who can barely create a coherent sentence comes into a good discussion and has nothing to add outside of calling people morons, dumbasses, gullible, etc.
This is pretty much my view on it too. I literally do NOT CARE how our coach feels about anything. He could be liberal, conservative, gay, straight, Buddhist, Jewish, Islam, atheist, purple, black, green, fat, skinny, etc……I give zero shits. He can lie, cheat, and steal (just don’t get caught you bastard). I don’t care. He can talk down his nose at me and I don’t care because I don’t need his validation. He could flip me off like Rick did and I don’t care. Same with the players. I don’t care if they love or hate this state and I don’t care if they don’t respect our storied tradition. It’s always a nice bonus if they do and most of them do. But I just need them to WIN. When they took a knee at florida last year I could have done without it but my biggest takeaway was that we won the game. They were just talking about this on KSR.....someone asked Matt about Bruce Pearl's comments about Biden and whether or not that would bother him if he was the coach at Kentucky. Matt said why would he care about anything Pearl does as long as he is winning basketball games?
Why should we ever care about what Cal says or does as long as he is winning games? He has one job.
I hate to interrupt this great rant but we actually won that game at Florida. It was the best we had looked so I got my hopes up we were turning things around but alas....This is pretty much my view on it too. I literally do NOT CARE how our coach feels about anything. All these guys have literally one job. To entertain me. To win games and bring me joy. They are dancing bears, nothing else. I’m return for their athletic feats they receive a free education and an opportunity to make NIL money. I think it’s a fair wage for a job well done. At the end of the day this is entertainment. A lot of people make it seem bigger than it is. Kentucky basketball is romantic to a lot of our fans and your hearts are nostalgic. Hero-worship and all that
my support of Cal hinges entirely on my confidence in him to win games here. I still feel that he’s our best option, and that’s good because he’s basically un-fireable. He’s an Italian from Philly and I’m from SE ky. I have no affirmation for him as a person. If Clyde had won games he’d still be here and he was a major asshole so I guess it all works out for assholes in the end. A lot of our fans are unfair towards cal because they’ve become bored with him as a person. I do believe he deserves better than a lot of y’all give him and one day you will miss him. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
The coach and these players owe us fans nothing. They provide a service and are paid well for it. No one is over-payed in America. It’s a free and open market and whatever you get paid is what you deserve since you were able to get it. Good on ya. Of you think any of these people owe you anything then you are drowning in entitlement
Holy shit you’re right! I misremembered that.I hate to interrupt this great rant but we actually won that game at Florida. It was the best we had looked so I got my hopes up we were turning things around but alas....

Exact scenario? You serious? Diallo wasn't projected as top 6 or better. He was an iffy 1st rounder with no guarantees which is why he came back. That is totally different than this situation. Plus, Diallo was considered a raw project with great measurables. Sharpe is considered an all around, skilled player. The only other player we had in this exact scenario was Diallo. Please remind me how that played out again?
Please enlighten me on how “this plays out every year,” considering the situation with Sharpe will be only the second such situation in Cal’s tenure.
Doesn't matter, he kept that info from the public for a reason. He's shady and deceitful.I’m talking about when he recruited the kid and he announced for us. Cal knew he would be eligible for the draft once he reclassed and joined early, but not when he was recruiting him.
Speaking of jumping to conclusions, explain to me again how Cal would run Sharpe to another school if the kid didn't want to play, and then the kid would play THERE. LOLLOL!
I’ll keep my head in the sand and you keep your tin hat on buddy.
Like I said, we know nothing yet. You are jumping to conclusions.
Until we know for sure, I’ve got better things to be mad about.
You guys have a good one pulling your hair out over this. I don’t have enough hair to spare doing that. LOL!
Have a good one, brother.

Well, I believe Oscar. That kid is as honest and true as an arrow. Oscar has absolutely no reason to lie.
Dude. Not cool. I don’t care for a lot of other people’s takes, even here. But telling someone to off themself is pretty sick and cruel. You‘d probably be happier. If you can’t be happy with our current team, nothing will please you.
I love Allen. But Mintz is three times the colleg player Allen is. Mints saved our butt at AM. And almost saved us at LSU. Grandpa can play and is pure grit.FWIW look at this team right now. We are playing some good basketball.
Maybe.......just maybe Cal was correct about Allen's usage in this team.
Mintz has really turned it around.
He could transfer at the end of the year. Immediately eligible. Play at that school in 2022-23.Speaking of jumping to conclusions, explain to me again how Cal would run Sharpe to another school if the kid didn't want to play, and then the kid would play THERE. LOL
These juveniles and using laughing emoji's instead of making a cogent post is pretty funny in itself. The Cal brigade does that a lot. Anyway, I think it would have been better had Cal and/or the family saying from the beginning that SS may be eligible for the draft and if he is, these are his plans. It's impossible to believe he will walk away from 30M if can grab it and everyone still claiming he will ignore the money just makes matters worse. Yes, his dad has money but we're talking about walking away from 2C what his father is worth, sorry, that doesn't pass the smell test. I think he still has to file a waiver with the NBA but I think that is little more than a technicality.Doesn't matter, he kept that info from the public for a reason. He's shady and deceitful.
