Say what you want, but we have no head coach

That's fair. I just don't remember hearing this last year when we beat Florida, went 10-3 and won the Citrus Bowl. But we lose our starting QB, lose a few games and now Mark Stoops isn't a head coach and it's all garbage. So weak.

There were numerous valid criticisms last year. There were also many numerous valid praises.

We got extremelt lucky to be 10-3, but wr should have been 11-2 at worst. 12-1 was extremely attainable.

But hey, keep thinking one great(UK standard) but good(regular standard) means stoops is perfect. Hes not, merriman refusing to answer a simple hypothetical is even more evidence that the type that thinks hes above reproach even know deep down that he has major deficiencies but are just too worried about not being the best super fan to acknowledge them.

No, but he has failed to recruit a top QB since he has been here and recruited the terrible kicker.

I think he's done well recruiting QBs, but most of them just haven't panned out. I give Stoops credit for developing guys like Benny and Josh Allen, but QB development (or lack thereof) has been a major issue.

We've been a good physical running team in the Stoops era, and the RBs have been good, but the passing attack, outside of a few games, has pretty much been a non-factor. Quarterback play has been average and our receivers for whatever reason just can't catch the ball. We've lost a lot of games because we're simply much too one-dimensional.

Because you didnt answrt the question. You seized on a tiny aspect of the hypothetical to avoid the question...and youre doung it again

I didnt ask about calling the plays. I asked about managing the situation.

Its very clear by your deflection that your answer is no, stoops would not be anywhere near the top of candidates you would want.. you won't admit it, but that little gut agreement should tell you something.

No. I see you failed to read the post.

I dont know that thats true. Notre dame would have ran a completely different offense if they had the chance for a tie.. may have been a different result.

Regardless, stoops would have never made that timeout. How many times have we seen unguarded touchdowns in HUGE situations?
I literally said YES I want him as a top 25 coach in that position as I think he is a top 25 coach in the country. But again, your question is irrelevant and can't be answered without hypotheticals as the question itself is hypothetical.

Do GA and ALA players play perfect every game? We expect our players to never miss a pass, never miss a tackle or block? When you are playing conservative on both sides of the ball expect to lose plenty of close games. Players aren't perfect, coaches should not expect them to be perfect on every play when coaches make plenty of bad play calls.

I think the whole team put too much energy into the Florida game....thinking they need to win that game and then things got worse this 3rd game.... Im not sure what coach stoops needs to do. He has experienced early injuries from crucial players, some other questionable plays and the targeting is hurting the flow of the game.

We have a staff full of REALLY GOOD assistants but no one to make correct decisions, fire up the team, get them mentally prepared after a bye week or a tough loss..etc etc..

Stoops has absolutely zero feel or "street smarts" hes never going to make a crazy in game adjustment that turns it on.

Suspending kash, along with dorian baker, is about the dumbest things ive seen a head FOOTBALL coach do. Already flat after a hard loss, already have suspensions due to the worst rule in the history of college football... so the LAST thing we needed was to lose our emotional leader and come out flat. In steps stoops.

Yes..Kentucky football is better off since stoops came..yes, recruiting is way better and will keep us as a winning team... no, kentucky football will not take the next step up to a georgia level(alabama level is a huge tier above). No, we wont lost stoops to an ohio state. They see his deficiencies in in game strategy and preparation.

Theres zero reason we couldnt run all over these jokers today. There defense wasnt great and we have almost the same line that dominated them last year...But we throw it 41 times...including the first quarter and dug ourselves a HUGE hole.
Your comments are impulsive and blind to everything our players and coaches have accomplished since 2013. But if you believe everything you are saying, then find something else to do on Saturdays and please learn to filter your comments through some kind of a patient, common sense perspective. Good luck with it.

I think Stoops has done an amazing job building one heck of a foundation for this program. I’m not saying he should be fired or leave. Only an idiot would wish that. I just wish he would learn to get out of his own way. If he’s not telling Eddie Gran what to do or what type of offense he wants, then Gran needs to go. He’s a horrible play caller. Joker was a bad head coach. But he was a good OC. Stoops has our talent level at never before seen level. I watched Georgia/ND. All I could think was, Georgia gonna beat the brakes off of us. And there’s absolutely no reason we shouldn’t be able to beat them. We are not that far apart in talent level. But Kirby is just a much better game coach. We should’ve beat Florida by 3 TD. But alas, once again we play not to lose. Try to control the clock. Ugh! How many times is Stoops gonna do that and lose before he gets a clue? I’m rooting for him. He’s been great for this university and program. Just please make better in game decisions. Things like, where the hell was Rose???? Dude was running all over MSU. 9 carries for over 100!! Why the heck did he not touch the balk more?? Gran or Stoops?

Of course he has deficiencies. But he has also done a fantastic job with our program.

Disregarding one of the best seasons we have had at UK as "lucky" tells me all I need to know about your argument.

Also, I never said he was perfect.

I totally disagree. Number one except for a few exceptional people it takes some
time, more or less, depending on the individual, to become a great coach. I think Stoops has done exceptionally well and will only get better. I think he's a leader who took on a monumental task and he's climbing that mountain.

If we play that poor v Carolina then some of the outrage will be justified about the season. Right now its our annual throwaway garbage game stinker.

Coaches can't help them beyond putting out a good gameplan and calling the right plays.

Stoops didn't ask to play a backup QB in game 3 of the year...

Stoops didn't throw the interception, miss the field goals, miss the obvious sacks that were right there, drop the passes, etc.

The right play calls were there to win the game...2 miss FG's (6 points), dropped Touchdown (7 points, and a pick-six (-6 points)....that's 19 points right there from poor execution by the players....the right calls were made. We were given a chance to win on the road. We laid an egg.

My prediction is this. During some growing pains and difficulties, these new voices will stir discontent and dissension to the best of their abilities. People who previously said UK would never go 10-3 with an SEC schedule are now saying other coaches could have won more. It’s laughable how these clowns work. But, when the ship gets righted and Stoops proves them wrong again, these posters will fade back into the paneling of their mom’s finished basement. Stoops has silenced everyone of them in the past. And, he will again.

Lol. Please point out the impulsive comment where I said something false or childish like fire stoops he sucks. Maybe you should follow your own advice.

Im capable of praising the job stoops has done while acknowledging his shortcomings. Youre not able to do the same.

I didnt say it was a luckt season. I said we were lucky to finish with the record we did. And we were. If you cant admit that, after vandy and missou, then youre just being dishonest. Its not being a bad fan to admit you stole a victory. Florida fans should have bren saying the same thing after our game.

But theres zero excuse for tennessee last year. Probably should have won at AandM but im not going to use that game as it was a stout opponent at their stadium that went to OT.

Been here longer than you. Also predicted 9-10 wins last year and 8-9 this year, which i still think is perfectly attainable, if stoops quits the blunders.

Thats a huge cop out to answering that question. Come on man.

Since youre being that way and cant just answet an honest question.

1st and goal from the 10, 1 minute left, 1 time out, to win a regular conference game. Stoops even in the top 25 of who you want managing that???

Stoops? Yeah
Gran? Nope!

Unfortunately, games like today are not likely to stop. Stoops serves up a clunker or two each season.

2013: Western Kentucky
2015: Vandy and UL.
2016: Southern Miss and a god-awful showing at Florida.
2017: Mississippi State and curb stomped at home by a mediocre UL team.
2018: Tennessee. Last year's game against Mizzou was horrible for 55 minutes but they did pull it out.
2019: Mississippi State and ???

As much as I want to believe Stoops has turned the corner as a coach, games like today give me pause.

There are other factors, such as his inability to win a big home game in front of electric crowds.

2015: Auburn, Louisville
2016: Georgia
2017: Florida, Louisville
2018: Georgia
2019: Florida

And there are the games UK squeaked by when the 'Cats should have dominated.

2015: Louisiana, Eastern Kentucky
2017: Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Tennessee

In his defense, UK did lose key players from last season, as well as the unexpected loss of Terry Wilson in Game 2. However, I was hoping the days looking discombobulated, disjointed, and disinterested against the Mississippi States of the world were over. Guess not.
Porky Pigskin and you guys are liking this U6 jerk? Come on you can do better 56-10 and you were just beaten by the worst team in the ACC ha

Was the 10-3 season more thanks to his coaching or more thanks to Benny Snell and Josh Allen being unstoppable beasts ? I mean, I'm on Stoops side more often than I'm not but just asking a legitimate question.
Well what if he had Sabans dudes? Cal gets good players Um actually does Phil Jackson win if he doesn't have Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen? Kobe and Shaq? It is not cheating or playing unfair to have good players, actually that is what coaches do, they get good players. Nobody has won a championship playing guys like you and me. It is great coaching to sign Snell's and Allen's. No coach says nah it just isn't a good look to win with good players, all good teams have great players including Stoops. You CANNOT use that argument

Hahahaha!!!! Josh Allen didn't have any other offers. And people passed on Benny all over the place. Ask those guys if stoops had anything to do with their success. I guess you can't fix stupid though. So I am sure I am wasting my time even responding to you.
It does not matter you cannot use the argument they are only good coaches because they have good players. Hell's bells what good coach has bad players?

You are correct, I can't use that argument..but some fans that act like Stoops can do no wrong (You're not one of them I don't think) can't/shouldn't use the "players have got to perform on the field" argument to defend Stoops. That's true, players do have to perform on the field, but they're great players so why aren't they performing on the field in games like last Saturday and in Knoxville last year ? I can't buy the "we're young and inexperienced this year" excuse either. I mean, yeah, that's true for the most part but we weren't young and inexperienced last year and we got our butts wholloped by a young and inexperienced and quite frankly one of the worst Tennessee teams of all time. I agree with you on pretty much everything you said but I needed to point this out. Games like last Saturday and last year in Knoxville and blowing double digit 4th quarter leads cannot/shouldn't be happening as often as they are (at least 2 times a year over the last 4 or 5 years) with great players. It's an Xs and Os issue and lack of motivation and not the Jimmys and Joes.

The 2 M's... Motivation... and (Game) Management.. These 2 areas are missing...

Thanks for this thread. We now know who are the village idiots.

PS, you suspend people when their actions merit suspension, not just when it’s convenient to do so. The “blame” falls on the wrong doer, not the ones administering the punishment.
