Reds

Who do you guys like in the postseason? I'm on the Baltimore bandwagon. Let's go Os!
It would be great to see the Reds do what Baltimore did this year after their 2022 season finishing 4 games above .500 and thrive during the 2023 season. Can definitely see this happening in 2024.

Would not mind to see a small market team like them win or the Twins with Sonny Gray & Kyle Farmer. Maybe the Reds will pursue Gray in the offseason and reunite with DJ again.

Reds won't be in the running for Nola nor Snell. Gray or Lorenzen would be nice to bring back but still think they will have to acquire any star player by trading prospects since they can't afford to be big spenders.

Haven't watched the MLB playoffs in years. Off the top of my head, can't recall a single time actually since Bud Selig cancelled the '94 WS.

Yet, you comment on here often. There's probably a crochet thread somewhere that is calling your name.

Guess it did not take that long this time, Michael Mariot, Alejo López, Matt Reynolds, Kevin Herget and Alec Mills have elected free agency.

Senzel had to have something on someone! There was absolutely no reason he got as many at bats as he did down the stretch.

But bottom line, the arms ran out of gas. Diaz was not the same after the all star break. The Reds in my opinion need an experienced starter and another reliever and a guy capable of hitting 30 HRs.
Marte, CES and EDLC are all capable of 30+ given a full season.

John Schneider pulled his best David Bell taking Jose Berrios out of the game and the Blue Jays are going home.

I hate to see that about Votto. I really wish he would hang them up and be a coach in the Reds system. I don’t see how the Reds can keep him as an active player.
I will be royally PO'ed if they do at $20M

Also, Reds drew over 2 million this year, highest since 2015 so I don't want to hear they have no money at all in the off-season.

They will not keep Votto at 20 million. If they keep him it will be at a very reduced salary. I will have no problem with that. He can get spot starts, be a good player off the bench in late innings

^It will be at no less than $7 million minimum he would receive from the Reds in 2024. That is the buyout of the current contract that he will be getting whether he is a Blue Jay, with some other team, doing Sponge Bob musicals and driving a bus or a restructured deal to come back to Cincinnati which in turn would have him getting more than $7 million in 2024 to come back at a minimal salary after paying out the $7 million. Likely looking at anywhere from $8-10 million after the payout of the old deal.

Better uses of that money than holding onto past glory such as investing in the bullpen or getting an innings eater not on the level of Luke Weaver.

While I would love to see Votto as a coach, I have to think he's going to be in a broadcast studio somewhere.

Not sure how much he could even command on the FA market. If the Reds were to pay his buyout then offer him a $2 million one year contract, I wouldn't complain. I want to see him retire a Red. But I know that's not likely and would create a logjam in the infield. He would have to accept a role as DH and platoon 1B. Though I'm sure there will be a number of teams open to bringing him in for a year or two just on his name alone to drive some ticket sales and merchandising. I don't see true contenders taking him.

Glad the Reds activated Cal’s cousin’s kid last Friday. We could really use him in November and December. STL sucks balls, Reds are undefeated against them in November, December, January, & February.

That should have been his role this year but we all know David Bell is going to play the L/R splits so he will get much more playing time than he really should at this stage of his career. IMO, as injury prone as Fraley is he needs to be the DH. Let Benson, Steer and Friedl get the bulk of starts in the outfield. Problem is, the logjam situation in the infield will likely have India getting a lot of DH at-bats unless you are in the camp that sees him getting dealt. Saw a ridiculous article that said Senzel is a better fit for the Reds than India. They need to get out of here with that bullshit. I'm sure people will spin it however they want to throw shade at India's fielding but Senzel isn't exactly Scott Rolen either. A jack of all trades but a master of none with his defensive versatility.

Please get rid of Senzel so Bell can’t even look his way!

Reds Jacob Hurtubise, Zach Maxwell, Jayvien Sandridge & Carson Spiers have all looked good in the Arizona Fall League.

Hurtubise .290, 13 RBIs & 9 SBs in 91 plate appearances.
Maxwell 1.86 ERA, 17 K's in 7 games and reaching triple digits on the radar gun.
Sandridge 1.42 ERA, 13 K's in 6 games.
Spiers 3-1, 3.86 ERA & 16 K's in 4 games.

Was hoping to see more out of Andrew Moore so far and Michael Trautwein given the lack of depth at catcher in the farm system. As long as Stephenson stays healthy and Maile can continue to be a serviceable backup the Reds will be fine for a few years there.
