That’s not the act he issued the tariffs under, he issued them under some emergency act. He can probably move them over to the one you voted, but he did not originally which is why a court struck them down. You know, rule of law.
Good Lord. The act specifically gives him the right to do what he’s doing. He doesn’t have to specify which act he’s issuing them under. That’s ridiculous. If he refers to them as reciprocal then this act applies. You know, rule of law.

This is interesting. I guess RFK Jr just be making stuff up.

Yahoo? That where you get your fact checking from? Just want to get you on record.

Why? The Constitution gives the tariff power to Congress. Congress has delegated that power to the President in specific circumstances, and the trade court decision from yesterday found that Trump has exceeded the delegated power. The government is appealing and today the appeals court (Fed Circuit) granted a stay of yesterday's order pending the appeal. The question will ultimately be determined on appeal.
Seems Congress had the chance to say whether Trump exceeded the authority Congress extended and it chose not to. It’s an interesting moment where the Constitution extends a delegable power to Congress and then Congress refuses to say it was exceeded, but then a court steps in. But, was it decided when the Senate failed to act?

So you think Congress should have to act when the President does something he lacks the authority to do? And if they don’t, the courts have no say? You can say that on a message board but that is not how our government works. As someone said, Congress could pass legislation imposing these same tariffs if they wanted to.
It’s a compelling argument. Congress has a power. It delegates under certain circumstances. The executive acts. Congress takes up the issue to stop the tariffs and it fails IN Congress. So, has Congress acquiesced?

Nothing screams stability or "democracy" like a dementia patient being controlled by a cabal of unelected staffers.
Or “rule of law.” The anti-democratic border erasers want now to act like they care about the rule of law. Next, they will burn buildings, damage personal property, and threaten lives. Rule of law my arse.

Or maybe, all of this crap is just made up foolishness to give the right wing shock jocks to have something about which to be outraged. All the while, the obscenely wealthy are picking your pockets as we undergo one of the largest transfers of wealth in our nations history. Unless of course, you're a billionaire, then I congratulate you.
You do realize the vast majority of wealthy individuals are democrats don’t you? This billionaire BS gets spouted repeatedly without merit. Get your head out of your ass!!!

Democrats are the party of the very rich, the very poor, and a bunch of degenerates and/or clueless people who've completely lost the plot, are demonstrably in the the throes of varying levels of delusion or more kindly put, naivete and cognitive dissonance.

From a cousin. Truth.

False.

It’s crazy that US courts are upholding the Constitution which pretty clearly states that Congress has the power to issue tariffs. Congress has passed several laws over the centuries that give the executive branch that power in certain circumstances. The court just said the law Trump used to justify his tariffs does not apply to the tariffs he issued. We live in a country with laws. Conservatives used to respect the law above all else, that too died with Trump. Maybe we can just cancel the Constitution and make him king. We were doing better when we had a king back in the day anyway. People loved the taxes.
Were we doing better under the king? Hmm.
That whole revolution thing seems inconvenient.

No one trashed talked anyone. The appeals court issued a "stay", they didn't overturn the ruling, they are going to take time to consider it. I would never peculate on how it will all end up, but it's nice to see some justices stand firm for the rule of law.

Frankly there's not much to consider. The constitution clearly assigns the powers to assign and collet tariffs. Trumps claim of a national emergency is pure bullish*t, just one more example of the general lawlessness of the regime.
That is rich.
Your team lawlessly hid a turnip in the Whitehouse and made decisions and signatures for him.

Geez. Unemployment is at around 4.2% which is in the range of what’s considered “full employment”. Inflation is currently at around 2.3%. In the range of your 2% threshold. He can lower the damn rates.
What if I told you that it really doesn’t matter what Powell does? The interest rates businesses and consumers pay is really tied to the treasury yield which keeps rising because of the gigantic debt and continued deficits projected out in the future?

Powell could lower the overnight rate at the Fed and mortgage rates could still go up. Why? Because a US Treasury is a risk free asset and a loan to me or you is not so we’re always going to pay more than the US government. Unfortunately we’ve hit a debt load where the US government is commanding a larger and larger share of the borrowable funds worldwide. Basically the supply of US debt has increased higher than the demand for US debt. This is what is driving treasury yields higher right now. As long as treasury yields keep rising mortgage rates will keep rising. The Big Beautiful Bill is going to pile several trillion more dollars of debt into the debt supply that is already too high. That means more interest on that debt.

Also the trade deficit creates a $ surplus on foreign countries and a lot of those $’s come back into the US to buy treasuries so our trade deficit is in a lot of ways funding our budget deficit. Tariffs are obviously created to lower the trade deficit which in turn decreases the demand for US treasuries putting further upward pressure on interest rates.

Basically Trumps OBBB and his tariff policy are going to ratchet the yields on US treasuries higher despite whatever the Federal Reserve tries to do with their overnight rate. So the Fed can lower rates and things like car loans and mortgages can still get more expensive regardless of what they do. I wish more people understood economics instead of just taking Trump’s word for it.

I will add, what the Fed can do is reignite Quantitatuve Easing (QE for short). Which is basically printing money to buy debt. They did a ton of that from the start of the housing crisis through 2020. They’ve been selling a lot of that debt to reduce the money supply over the last 3 years.

Looks like Musk has overstayed his welcome. at the White House. Few a little to close to the sun, and missed out on his calculation that all his money could buy his way into the inner circle of the Trump criminal enterprise. At least he stayed long enough to steal everyone's personal information, get a few billions in government contracts and delete all the evidence again him and his own criminal enterprise.
That is rich.

How mind numbingly stupid. We have a system that promotes old white men to the presidency and old people are frail. Remember FDR? Eisenhower? How about the favorite of the Reich wing.. Ronald Raygun. Talk about a vegetable-the guy was far worse than Biden. In fact, whatever you say about Biden, he didn't allow his operatives to run guns and drugs from Latin America to the US, or trade military weaponry to the Iranians. It's a documented fact the Nancy was running the White House with the help of an astrologer.

But we don't need to walk down memory lane. Your boi, DJT is BATSH*T Crazy. He's at West Point drooling and stumbling and, prattling on to Cadets about Trophy Wive and confusing Ohio State and Alabama.. He's up all night on Memorial Day weekend rage tweeting in all caps about how every American that doesn't agree with him is leftist scum. Say what you want about Reagan or Biden, they never tried to rip up the constitution.

Now go learn something and maybe I'll let you come back.

You are completely wrong and it's not clear where you got your information. I would be curious to see your source for your statement. Trump has claimed exceptional and unprecedented powers by falsely claiming several national emergencies concerning energy, trade deficits, and border security. These are all blatantly false and concocted out of thin air to give him power which he does not legitimately posses.

Even more concerning than the financial instability caused by the tariffs, however, is the fact that trump is declaring non existent emergencies to seize power to which he is not entitled. This is the path of the authoritarian. Think Hitler and the Reichstag fire-although Hitler at least went through the trouble of staging a national emergency instead of just claiming one.

I think it’s so funny that on Friday/Saturday you were typing out posts like you were writing a high school research paper now you’re typing like some insane person on Facebook.

I also find it funny that you nuke your own arguments while you think you’re making good points. Has anyone had a come to Jesus meeting with you in real life about how to articulate good points in an argument or do they just let you continue spewing drivel because it’s just funny to listen to you say so much but say nothing at all?

You answered your own question. I don't think he exceeded that authority. Also i think there is an argument for him being able to treat with other nations and this is a term of treaty sought.

From my personal view, I don't think hes handling tariffs overly well. Its erratic and doesn't give the supply chain to adjust.

If he can just get our deal with china modified about not being able to enforce judgment, that would resolve any need for any Chinese tarrifs imo.

Supply chain didn't adjust....they had knee jerk reactions vs. waiting to see how this would evolve. It was never erratic, but a calculated negotiation. Anyone who doesn't believe Trump knew exactly how this was going to play out doesn't know Trump.

Point somewhere else to excuse Joe's pitiful administration.

hahaha look who suddenly cares about the debt

Which he followed to the letter, especially w/ trade imbalances.
Obviously the three judge panel disagreed. So it is not as clear as you or all of the social media influencers (Stephen Miller, etc.) claim. Really what this is is another obvious effort to de-legitimize the judiciary. You even have posters on here claiming that judges should have no authority to engage in judicial review of arguably delegated executive action when the current Congress abstains from action. Under that logic, the courts would have had no authority to block the Biden student loan edict.

I am having a Press Conference tomorrow at 1:30 P.M. EST, with Elon Musk, at the Oval Office. This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House.
