I worked at a bowling alley for a few years during my time in school. There was a guy named Andy Varipapa who was a pro and did exhibitions. He came to the place I worked and put on an exhibition. He did that shot and used a ball in each hand at the same time on two different lanes and struck on both. Plenty of other trick shots.

Seems I remember that name. I was an avid bowler before my left knee surgery. Wasn't too shabby. At my busiest I was bowling six nights a week.

Bowled a lot at Dixie Town lanes in my later times in E'town.

I think B.L. Taylor owned those. Had at least three sons. May tell a story how I took his one soon to school one night when I was about half lit. 😅

Did a lot of bowling in Michigan in Southgate and Dearborn.

I was watching the later years of Dick Weber, the hey days of Earl Anthony the lefty, just hugged the gutter but smooth, he was smooth. Mark Roth, and many others. Thanks Sir for bringing that back.

Never bowled a 300 but had several 290's.. a few in league play. Had the rings till I joined the Army. Not sure where those went ...

Not sure what you mean by that but yes. A google search of "UK message board" pulls this site right up.
i meant i find it hard to imagine a 13 year old web surfing for political discussion forums. i’ve got grandsons in that age group and although they are honor students they couldn’t give a rat’s ass about anything political. maybe girls are different.

Levin’s been relentless lately on Iran and Nuclear weapons. I agree that they could basically end civilization if they get them.

Levin is also relentless in his support of bringing America to the brink of a nuclear war in support of the Ukraine. While he may well be a solid conservative on most issues, I'd hesitate to trust his judgment of issues that can end civilization, because he seems to want to push matters to the the brink himself.

As an employee, I bowled free. I usually closed up at night and would often stay and bowl for a couple of hours. Don Johnson and Nelson Burton Jr came to town on a promotion. My boss got them roaring drunk. Their bowling on tour suffered for a few weeks. Coincidence?

Me personally I've always been curious and searched out many different topics and the internet is a great way to do that. I'd think now days with the political climate we are in that our youth would even be more likely to search for answers.

I just know how easily kids can be influenced. I grew up with this board and I recon there are kids now days doing the same whether they are an active member or just a guest. I realize it's the internet and we have a sense of animosity but you know there are real people behind these screen names and can be positively or negatively influenced by our interactions.

He’s definitely got flaws and was once a never Trumper but I like seeing the spotlight shined on Iran.

certainly inquiring minds want to know. i doubt this forum has the weight of influence you seem to think it does. jmdo

I'm curious. Are you saying that his claim that women are 100% emotional and easily influenced is the sexist part?

Because even though he's being hyperbolic, there's certainly a kernel of truth there. Women are emotion-based. That's science. And his comment goes more to the aspect that political organizations TARGET women because they know they can use emotion-based arguments to win over their votes. 54% of women voted for Kamala in the election, despite Kamala being arguably the stupidest, most unqualified, and CONFIRMED LEAST POPULAR candidate in the Democrat primary.

IMHO he's just using absurdity levels of hyperbole to express his frustration. And he does document reasons behind his claims. Also, it's clear to me that you haven't been following the discussions in the last few years, because he's clearly referencing a TREND with women lately, that they've become more and more easily influenced by these marketing and propaganda entities.

And again, this is the type of comment that can be debated on the forum by all parties. We actually police ourselves pretty well. But I suspect the person who complained is someone who is ignored by most or all of us on the right and sought relief by complaining because he/she knew nobody was paying attention to them. That is PETTY and should NOT be rewarded.
@DraftCat never did get a response

This is exactly what I thought.

So the "offensiveness" of the post is LITERALLY the difference of opinion between the complainant and the poster.

So rather than allow us to debate these opinions, we are now placed in timeout (BANNED) for stating them.

This is EXACTLY what happened to Reddit.

And I GUARANTEE the person who complained did so out of frustration because he likely is blocked by everyone else on this thread. It's the only way he could get satisfaction.

This is ridiculous.
Exactly, I agree 100%.

IMHO, HN's post wasn't offensive in any way, but whatever.

Yes I'm a mod. Every one is entitled to their opinion and respectfully believe it or not there are ways you can articulate your opinion without offending 95% of the world.

I view it pretty easily. Would you say what you say on a forum in the exact way you'd talk to your mother. I don't really care if your a sexist or a racist but you keep those thoughts in your head on a public forum, it doesn't belong in the open.

Remember kids do browse these forums. Your opinions right or wrong rub off on the youth.

Lastly us mods have moderated this thread very loosely but please don't take advantage of us. Our moderation isn't a reflection of our political beliefs either it's about respect.
Yes. I read the posts to my wife, sometimes around our 2 college-aged daughters. Yes, we frequently discuss the modern validity of the 19th based on conversations sparked by the endless supply of reasons to have those exact discussions provided by YouTube videos alone. My wife points out to our daughters how the overwhelming demo of women in the D party have gravitated away from ALL of society and that the majority of attendees at thees protests and rallies is always women. And, my wife agrees with me on the 19th issue, fwiw. Test everybody on Constitutional/Civics/Ethics knowledge for voting rights and watch them eliminate themselves from the voting pool, regardless of sex or party. The results, however, might possibly hurt them fee-fees about where the women finish in that pile.

It was an amendment, ya know. Meaning, these ideas aren't even new, only being recycled due to observed behavior. Pattern recognition, the ability to digest data and the right to espouse an opinion about that data shoudn't hurt anybody's feelings or be any call to punish for wrong-think.

Are you afraid these kids might learn to think for themselves?

I think it did. I feel like I see 40 posts more “offensive” than that on a weekly basis, but I guess that’s just me.

Please don’t ban m for this opinion, mods.
It did. I quoted his post that got pulled down in my reply to it. Went back and checked, clicked fly-out tab to see original post and it had been deleted. That's when I replied to BluBo that "It were."

He said "it doesn't belong in the open."

Straight up censorship. And we're not even talking about profanity, which by the way TONS of posters violate every day, including on the Rafters and elsewhere.

Nope. This is censorship of IDEAS.

"Would you talk to your mother like that" - my mother AGREES with me on that issue.

This is simply a case of a new mod enjoying his first twirl of the ban hammer.

It doesn't take a lot of strength to wield the hammer. It takes strength to exercise restraint.

Toy store discussion elsewhere on the Paddock reminded me of this. My first job was a small paper route I had, when I was in 6th grade(ish) Anyway, the first purchase I made with some of the money I had made was from Thornbury's Toys in Turfland Mall. I'd already been skateboarding for several years, but this was the first modern era board I owned. Compared to what would come later, this thing is primitive (much harder to do tricks, ride bowls, (no half-pipes back then, especially in Central Kentucky), but for the day, this was top of the line. That flat deck and short tail made it impossible to ollie (but the ollie hadn't made it out here in those days anyway.) This was too short to "add" a kick tail to (that would come later) "modern" trucks and polyurethane wheels meant that a piece of gravel in the road wasn't a death sentence.

How I never got killed, bombing some of those hills on Pasadena Dr., with car traffic all around me is a miracle.

If there was a Mt. Rushmore for skateboards, The Hobie Hustler would be on it. Later in life, when I learned to surf while living in Cali, the board I used was ALSO a Hobie.

There is a good chance that CatinIL remembers this board/me riding it. One of my neighbors, just down the street from him (on the corner, had the perfect inclined driveway to bleed off speed and 180 back out of it after coming down that huge hill (you had to cross on-coming traffic to do it though, which could get REALLY hairy) Finally, the old couple that lived in that house put a stop to it.

More places to find information now. I was 13 and on catspause when Shagari and Orbzut committed. Would occasionally check out the other free boards in that time.

Sat in my bosses staff meeting on Monday. The impact of these tariffs from May through December of this year are estimated to be a $1.2B cost hit to our overall business. Our EBIT last year was just over $600M. Obviously this is not sustainable long term. So this means there's a massive push to move our incoming parts to other countries or source them in the US.

There are many laws in the United States regarding Sexism.

We have a sticky thread on racism perhaps we should add sexism to that thread so it's clear.
Not sure the sticky thread is about racism, but rather about race. Big difference, to most sensible people. It’s good to explain your moderation decisions. It’s better to be open to the fact that you may have overstepped your authority. But, a longstanding debate about being a moderator with veiled threats is probably not the best moderating decision.

Another member reported the post as sexist and I ultimately agreed. Women are of no less value than men in this world. Whether you agree or disagree that is your opinion. However last time I checked the laws we were just about equal.

Listen I've already spoke more than any other mod would have in this thread. Frankly I regret it already but I'm not here to be a dictator I've made it clear I really don't care what you post. As long as it's done in a respectful way the world is your oyster.

You are imputing something that is not there. I know you don't see it, but it is in exactly the same vein and indeed no less ridiculous than "trans women" accusing men of being "transphobic" for not wanting to sleep with them.

Rather than have serious, substantive discussion, you (pl) will seek to terminate it because you don't like it and can't contend with it on its merits. You (specific) know you are being a dictator incidentally by letting your (misguided, errant) opinion impose itself on others, hence your "disclaimer." His post was no more offensive or disrespectful than various other opinions people might have about other people which are commonplace, part of the human condition, and in no way censored in society outside of a political context, i.e. political correctness. Other than the aformentiond purpose of impeding discussion, the ultimate reason the person who logged their so-called sexist complaint is because that person is offended by the poster in general since they;'re probably being disrespected by him and called an idiot in here all day, every day. It has absolutely nothing to do with being respectful or some thought-terminating "-ist;" there is nothing more disrepcful than what is coming from the mainstream left today calling everyone who disagrees with them a nazi, comparing the sitting president to Hitler and other nonsense, completely disrespecting those affected by the holocaust and its consequences. Censor that.

I think your forgetting that yes you have freedom of speech but you don't have freedom to be disrespectful to someones character, beliefs, or background.

Someone's "beliefs" are usually the tipping point of this thread, especially when said beliefs go against the moral fiber of the foundation and strength of this country. Sooooooo....yes, if someone's "beliefs" are that of allowing illegal criminals in this country, to name one simple example, they're going to get an ear full from most on here due to their "beliefs" in our country's red white and blue fabric.

Wednesday morning tip...."political" leanings are generally characterized by ones "beliefs", and this being a political board.....
Being disrespectful is generally subjective to the executioner rather than pointed facts.

Carry on.

If she has any position of authority its the biggest red flag that could ever exist. She should be in jail for treason. How could trump let this happen is beyond me.

Checked around and this seems correct. I strongly disagree with this situation in Florida.

Meh kids are just allowed to work. They aren't forced. I don't have an issue with removing restrictions on two private parties being able to contract for labor and fill jobs.

Getting a time-out for a sexist comment on a sports site. Damn I miss the old days.

If its the voting one, it wasnt even a sexist comment. It was a comment about a voting block. So next it is an offense to suggest jews are voting against their self interest because they vote dem?

Discussing demographics in politics is a very legitimate discussion and is something focused by every single political party, candidate, and poll thats ever been.

Given the massive overreaction to that post, wonder if we now know who deleted the original covid thread?

Hn offends me all the time.
So what.
i have found some posters offensive and others just retarded (which some people find offensive). I usually put them on ignore ... they are usually not worth the time. And I have been banned on here once before (that I know of lol). I know i am on ignore by some... netcat has me on ignore, that is why i have some fun when i respond to his idiotic drivel.

Every single person is able to "ignore" posters or comments they don't like or find offensive. I think the mods should clear up posts that violate clear rules, but shouldn't throw their opinion in the mix. And that is my opinion that I threw into the mix haha

I enjoy a good banter. Just don't be crazy and you have nothing to worry about.

Scouts honor.

Can we get an objective definition for what amounts to "crazy"? Who decides? Frankly that isnt a one person decision and this is a good example of why.

Discussing voting demographics isnt objectively sexist even when perceivably insensitive language is used. I use perceivably, because that too is subjective.

THIS. well stated. at least he had the courage to publicly say why the ban. That is a first that I"m aware of. I disagree with it, but give him props for that...

I was never much of a bowler. Went occasionally back in High School...mostly in the Winter for something to do.

But I noticed when I went to Atlanta there were no bowling alleys. Think I found one in the whole town/burbs. With the warmer weather there didn't seem to be too many bowlers. Or it was a Northern sport versus Southern.

I view it pretty easily. Would you say what you say on a forum in the exact way you'd talk to your mother.

I want no problems with the mods, personally I think you guys should focus on these clowns with 57 accounts...but I have to make one observation.

No one here or elsewhere talks to anyone in the exact same way they talk to their mother. You would have to ban 97 percent of the board under those rules. Politics is a rough sport, there are no women or kids here...just a bunch of dumb dudes.

Yea, the new mod seemed to be on a complete power trip because someone said something that he/she didn’t like. I’ve yet to see where anything was truly offensive. If that’s how things are going to be moving forward, I’m sure we will all be hit with the ban hammer in the coming months.
