I don’t hate anyone. I want everyone in the US and the whole world to do well. These policies are basically going to make quality of life worse for Americans the most but also the rest of the world. Over the last 40 years the American economy, has prospered and lifted billions of other people worldwide out of poverty.

We can have our cake and eat it too. The long term effects of these tariffs is going to be the world moving on without the US. We aren’t trustworthy anymore as a trade partner and the world will oblige us with leaving us to ourselves in our little island over here in between the Atlantic and Pacific. We will have less because we don’t have the human capital necessary to produce the wealth of goods and services we are accustomed to. Basically what we ourselves can make for us to consume is much less than what we can consume in a free trade scenario because we have more money than everyone else. The first step in making us poorer is erasing the projected future earnings of our companies. That erased the value of owning these companies which is what we saw in the stock market. He next step is going to be as actual products prices go up and products start disappearing from our shelves. The next part will be job shifting. The goods US produces domestically and exports will start slowing and people will lose jobs there while others gain jobs in things that are necessities that we have to start making here. Trading software engineers for tee shirt makers basically.

I am disheartened by the glee you all seem to have in peoples suffering. You like to see foreigners suffer, you relish Americans losing money in the stock market, you think there is some great future for you, but that’s only cause you don’t understand. My view of your attitude is that you would rather see us suffer under Republican leadership no matter who it is then prosper under anyone else. Why do I think this? Because over the last 20 years I have seen the people in this forum dismiss every single good thing that has happened under Democratic leadership and relish the bad things that happen under Republicans.

I want people to do well and moving forward under these policies more people will suffer than do well. Also I’m not a patriot. I don’t really care if someone is American, Mexican, Chinese, Russian, whatever. We all have a right to be free and prosperous. Leaders who see the world as a game of stealing prosperity from others are the problem with the world not the solution. Trump is one of those people so I don’t support him. We have words for that and they’re called selfish or greedy at best, and maybe evil at worst. All I know is with one fell swoop on 4/2/2025 Trump made the world a worse place to live for everyone and we in the US will bear the majority of that cost.

Trump administration argues judge can’t order return of man mistakenly deported to El Salvador

They can send a man to a foreign prison without due process. Then later admit it was done in error. But they can't/won't try to undo their little oopsie, even when ordered to do so by a judge.

This is the new normal!

Abrego Garcia entered the country illegally. His appeal for asylum was denied. He was identified as a member of MS-13. He has had bonds denied due to witness accounts stating that he was MS-13 affiliated. He was granted a withholding of removal at one point. Mistakes can and will be made in this process. The guy was returned to his home country, granted not the most accommodating location, but perhaps he can find more assistance there?

The moral of this story is, do not enter other countries illegally.

Since this tariffs thing started, I've heard of up to $600B in revenue/yr being generated by them and that the money could be used for more tax cuts.

So just how the hell do you know what the revenue will be one day to next when tariff sizes keep changing?

Good interview with Tom Homan. Says he has Virginia State Police that guard his property in Virginia because of death threats from the cartels. Said no one knew about his upstate New York property until protestors made all that information available on social media this week. Says protests/ralles won't change anything haha, Tom Homan seems like one of the last people in the administration you want to mess with.

Can't wait till the follow up story in a month or less when this fat b-tch is crying with ICE agents around her:

No taxes on overtime & tips: There's got to be limitations.

For OT, I'd set it for over 45 hrs/wk. Otherwise, people could define OT beginning anywhere, say 25 hr/wk.

For tips, I'd limit no tax to say $20K/yr and to service workers where base pay is lower than min. wage. This could be gamed to no end.

Tariff revenue will be substantial in the beginning, but the revenue isnt really the end game.

Trump wants US production to take the place of much of the imports, it is a ratio, as production increases and people buy US-made products, tariff revenue will drop.

Tariffs are forcing money into the Treasury for now which will lower rates to pay the national debt.

Tariffs are a great bargaining tool and Trump is a deal maker.

I wouldn't get too caught up in the tariff revenue if all goes to plan, it will rise sharply early, but then drop continuously as the US increases production.

Dems are chanting 'Bring Him Back' in D.C. today. Just incredible how stupid and disturbed they are. Politics to libs is dumb theater sh-t like this, just like Booker's 25 hour 'filibuster' speech despite the fact he wasn't filibustering any bill...it's all a show, and just like Booker's speech, these rallies will be forgotten before the day is over.

The 40-hour workweek is a federal threshold for overtime pay. Thus it would be a violation under the Fair Labor Standards Act if it were to be lowered.

Employees whose income is primarily tips only generate $7B in tax revenue each year. Liberals paid 3 times that amount for gay Bert and Ernie in Iraq.

These shouldn't be an issue in my opinion.

Same here. I worked my ass off for @ 45 years. I'm done unless I get REALLY bored, then I might consider going back to work PT, doing something fairly cushy like security or something. I don't foresee that happening anytime soon.

I'm going to enjoy my retirement as much as possible. I've got a mini library, so I can read anytime I wish ; I enjoy taking my dog on long walks, to the local parks, and just enjoying playing with him. I've got a nice big TV with more channels and apps than I'll ever use, but I do enjoy being able to watch a movie or documentary, until 1am if I so desire, without having to worry about getting to bed so I'll be well rested for work.

And then I've got my biggest passion: fishing. My son and I truly enjoy spending time together, and our favorite pastime is bass fishing. ( He doesn't know it, but I ordered him a new Abu Garcia rod and reel combo from Bass Pro. It was delivered about an hour ago.) He's at work now; he works weekends at a local restaurant, while being a FT college student. I can't wait until he gets home after while and I give him his new outfit, he's going to love it.

So yeah, life is good ; the hell with going back to work, lol.
Mine hit the bank today.

I think more than the current tip revenue would be lost as people would be converted to tip income from wages. Bunch of sneaky b-turds out there. JMO.

I think the OT no taxes will cause employers to work people even more OT over hire more. That happens already before people are added. Net, it will hurt hiring & thus keep unemployment higher. It also discourages higher base pay imo. To minimize these affects, have the no taxes start at a higher hours level than just 40.

I'm not too concerned about these.

The time and a half, or more, that employers have to pay for OT is way more than the income tax they would have to match.

As to tips, we could see that the more people are paid based on tips the better the service should be. The more that people get to keep could increase the number of workers or maybe the quality of people applying for those jobs? Who knows, but I dont see it being a problem.

That said, we do have a lot of sneaky people.

You're speaking from emotion, not reality. It's not happening at the levels y'all think.

"That number is even smaller when it comes to middle school and high school athletes. Newsweek also spoke to Gillian Branstetter, a spokesperson for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), who told Newsweek that Save Women’s Sports, a leading voice in the bid to ban transgender athletes from competing in girls’ sports, identified only five transgender athletes competing on girls’ teams in school sports for grades K through 12.

Yes, that’s right. Not 5000, not 500, not even 50 – just five trans student-athletes. All of this legislation, work, lobbying and anger – is aimed at preventing a tiny handful of young people from playing school sports.

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act now faces an uncertain fate in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Y'all were the same people that downplayed covid because it killed 1 out 100 people but somehow 1 in 50000 is a threat to society?

Would be like if there were 90 people in KY, a state with 4.5m people, and saying those 90 people were a threat to society. It's not rational.
So I've seen a high school fencer and two track athletes in the last 2 weeks on tv winning medals. All dudes, of course.
It's Just a coincidence that 60% of the trans high school athletes in America were mentioned?
False.
The good news is they are being denied now in many places due to the magic elixir, funding.

Huh. Tough to cry when there isn’t anything to cry about.

You all are cute. Let’s do a heat check in two years to see how everyone is doing. I would imagine whatever imaginary number you’re dreaming up that Trump is spiraling towards with all his decisions is going to miss the mark.
So the economy was peachy the entire time Biden was president? I must have missed all the greatness.

If he gets half-done of what he is trying to do I will be happy. Biden did nothing but make things worse so...

Why are you crying so early. We are not 3 total months in yet and here you are screaming the sky is falling. It already fell under your old hero and now Trump is just trying to pump some air back into it.

Trump is a deal maker I have no doubt that he will continue to make strategic exceptions. Keep in mind that Argentina is not an import manufacturing rival. We take in some crude, gold, soybeans, meat, seafood, and wine.
Their Malbecs are fantastic, and relatively low-cost compared to other wine making regions.

This dude is not the innocent angel he’s been made out to be. IIRC he had a valid court order that he couldn’t / shouldn’t be sent to El Salvador. He may not have been a MS-13 (?) but he was a known gangbanger.
Gangs have "clean" members who operate in everyday society. Just because he isn't tatted up, or doesn't have a thick jacket, doesn't mean he isn't affiliated.

The United States has been the largest source of humanitarian and military aid in the history of the globe. And nobody is HAPPY about people losing money. The bandaid needed to be ripped off though, so that in the future, everyone will be better off in the long run.

You took all that time to type that LOOOONG post, and literally got it ALL wrong.
Too.Many.Words.
No examples of the aforementioned good things democrats did.

All the administration had to do was bring their evidence before a judge, prove their case that he enjoyed a good gangbang, and let’s get him outta here. I would have applauded. Most people would have applauded. But that’s not how it went down.

I liked America a lot better when the government had to prove guilt before the punishment was levied. I thought most other Americans felt the same.

But this is the new normal.
