Dept of Education....someone enlighten me on the true benefits of dismantling this dept and the rules and regs going back to the states? Given the past waste, one might think this dept could be revamped to benefit most. For example, if KY were not house/senate controlled by Repubs, the last thing I would want is Andy and our liberal BOE fully in charge. They have too much say as it is, and I can't imagine not having anyone overseeing their liberal ignorant policies. We see how that is happening on the local level in Fayette w/ Liggins and Murphy.
Trillions spent. Not even a slight increase in the level of student learning in 50 years.

The only issue that you so conveniently left out is that the 2017 slander was a result of the left believing in collusion and election interference.

The 2025 label from this moron isn't remotely accurate.

Not surprising you agreed with this.
Yeah I don't get Frum's tweet. It makes no sense. There is no "MAGA-Russia." We don't "like" Russia. We just want to stop OUR tax money sent to a war of attrition.

My take on this has been Washington DC is far removed, both geographically and politically, from many area of the US. If the DoE makes some ridiculous reg or requirement, you can't vote them out. If the local school board does something idiotic, it doesn't take long to remove them and make changes the majority favor. In theory, local boards would be infinitely more accountable for good and bad policy and couldn't rely on 'federal regulations ' as a cop out.

That's not how government contracts work dude. It's a bidding process, not a lick your boots process.
Besides SpaceX, other companies involved in satellite launching include Blue Origin, United Launch Alliance (ULA), Rocket Lab, and Arianespace.

You should be thanking me for educating you about your federal tax dollars and the bidding process for government contracts.

There was a reason they won that contract. At the time every other space exploration company was just in the planning phase or maybe fledgling along in initial startup. Meanwhile spacex made reusable rockets which was thought impossible.

Didn't obama give them these contracts? Probably would've helped negotiations had obama not dismantled nasa. Instead there was no other game in town.

The point is that Space X just landed more contracts with the government without going thru that process.

One can argue that the level of student learning has regressed significantly compared to the rest of the world in that time span. I mean Baltimore public schools didn't have a single student proficient in math in the 8th grade in 2023, IIRC. You can hardly do worse.

Two main reasons this is good 1) it knee caps the teacher's unions power, who is just an extension of the dnc and their overlords.

2) from a geographic and cultural perspective, it just makes way more sense to end the standardized approach. Kids in eastern Kentucky are completely culturally different than kids from Compton or Alaska. Trying to teach them the same things the same way would never work and was set up for failure from the beginning.

It will now put the power at the state level and it will indeed depend on your governor. However now that will be a big state voting issue and parents will vote differently knowing its and on the ballot in the governor race. Plus if its bad enough, you will at least have the option to move to a state that better suits what you want for your child.

A few months from now, when supplies have recovered from the great Biden admin chicken genocide of 2024, I hope each of these retarded lefties is still posting about egg prices every day.

You guys pick the dumbest shit to go all in on.

Egg prices are high because the Biden admin slaughtered a bunch of chickens. Chicken populations will recover, and prices will drop, well before midterms.

If any of you had any functioning brain cells you would realize this and understand it’s a mind numbingly stupid issue for you to go all in on.

You’re joking right? Where was your outrage when…

1) Biden awarded two no-bid contracts to Family Endeavors totaling $600 million for “handling migrants”. At the time of the award the Senior Director of Family Endeavors had strong ties to top Biden officials (who also happened to be holdovers from the Obama administration)

2) The Obama administration awarded a $350 million No-bid contract to Pearson Publishing to develop the Common Core project. When Obama left office he & his wife Mike signed a $65 million book deal with Penguin Random House (Pearson owned a 25% share in Penguin). That’s by far the largest book deal ever…5 times as large as 2nd place. Next closest at the time was $13 million signed by Bill & Hillary Clinton when they left office.

The cover up was in the exit strategy…In 2019, Pearson sold its US K-12 courseware business to the private equity firm Nexus Capital Management, which rebranded it as Savvas Learning Company. Pearson also sold its remaining 25% stake in Penguin Random House to Bertelsmann.

3) During Covid, King Andy awarded two no-bid contracts totaling $14 million to the Grimes family owned company, Emergency Disaster Services, to build two emergency field tents in Lexington & Louisvile.

Total cost = $14 million
Total bids = ZERO
Total number of patients treated at the facilities = ZERO

This is just an appetizer. The list of no-bids is looooooong with both the Biden & Obama administrations if you want me to continue. But the point remains…where was your outrage back then???
I'm not excusing that. Never argued for it.
If I had known about it I would have said something.
The fact that you can't see the insane irony with the DOGE Douche handing himself billions in taxpayer $$$$ while firing thousands of government workers in the name of savings is comical.

A couple of things. 13 cents of every tax dollar the DOE gets, makes it to the children, so that means 87 percent of that dollar goes towards:

Federal Administrative overhead at the national level (and we both know that that always involves excess staff, a lot of travel (to education conferences that are always held in fun places like Las Vegas, New Orleans etc.) and the BIG ONE; federally funded studies, which I can 100 percent assure you, are conducted by a foundation/research group etc. that is run by a relative or close personal friend of a National Department of Education administrator.

That's just at the National level.

The DOE provides countless grants, financial aid, materials etc. to local school districts. Here's the catch: the eligibility requirements, red tape, and hoops that districts must follow are so Byzantine that if forces them to take large portion of the money they get from Washington and allocate it to additional central office staff. Fayette Co. for instance, has a department that only deals with that stuff. 9 people work in it, at an average salary, including benefits of over 110,000 thousand dollars a piece, and that's not ALL of them. There are more scattered around CO, in various departments, that have vague/nebulous names.

But let's set ALL of that aside, and look at it objectively. Jimmy Carter created the DOE in 1976, so we managed to survive w/o it for 200 years, and that event ushered in an era of breathtaking decline in public schools. It was unprecedented actually.

Look through all of what I typed, and find me a good reason to keep it.

The only thing the Department of Education ACTUALLY does is create jobs for overpaid administrators, fat contracts for public education think thanks, and a lot of paid vacations to destination spots around the country.

You asked for true benefits of dismantling it.

That's easy, I can give you 268 billion of them.

I actually have no idea how my 401(k) is performing today, nor any of my nonqualified accounts.

Can we go back to the days when you gullible cucks were focused on Occupying Wall Street? Was much better times. Now you just focus on transing kids all day and supporting government waste pumping Wall Street bank accounts.

Turning you guys from occupy Wall Street to BLM was a masterful move.

There is no process when there isnt an alternative. Obama wanted to kill nasa. Everyone else was years away from even getting something off the ground, and even that was speculative.
Remember this?

“When I became the NASA administrator, [Obama] charged me with three things,” NASA head Charles Bolden said in a recent interview with the Middle Eastern news network al-Jazeera. “One, he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering.”

Absolutely right. They brought every bit of this onto themselves, let them fight their way out of it, if they even can now at this point.

You would think our resident libs would look at what's happened in Europe, and understand what Biden did by allowing every 3rd world POS to come into our country, is exactly why Europe finds itself in a literal fight for their individual countries, but more importantly it's a literal fight to the death over there; however a lot of the libs over there refuse to see it as well.

Proof positive liberalism really is a mental disorder. There's no other explanation.
Well, Libs are so ate up in their indoctrinated hatred for the "Colonizers" that they are celebrating Europe and the US being decolonized by means of colonization by the third world.

Great illustration of how troll activity is focused and coordinated.

That's why theyre all lockstep and more importantly why they all use the same links. Before Facebook changed their algorithm, using links from "trusted" sources made the algorithm promote the content.

It works in similar ways now, because its weighted still but just in their community notes approach instead or promoting the post or comment. I know this because i personally know someone who does this work and they talk about it because they think im an "ally".

That's why i keep posting here that continuous links are a dead giveaway someone is a paid troll. Theyre paid either in actual money (the person i know is paid a flat fee per "engagement" which can happen anywhere online) or in hopes of advancing into a paid or prestigious position.

Before elon bought Twitter, they could just bot blast their message and have Twitter and fb also secretly promote it. But nowadays, the above description is how it works.

There's not gonna be a Wall Street left after your Russian fool destroys our government and economy.
But the cult will be cheering him on as the last penny drains from their life savings.

How many billions is the FAA contract worth?

I think people get numb to large numbers size,

Millions contacts no bid is bad and shouldn’t happen.

Let’s not let that make it ok to handout billions

Fortunately, state law doesn't allow them to collectively bargain.
There is no state teacher's union in Ky. There is no state teacher's union contract for Ky teachers.
There are no collective bargaining rights for Ky teachers.
There are no mandatory state teacher's union dues.
Jefferson County does have a teacher's union. The STATE doesn't.

Worked in Ky for decades and never once belonged to any union or association.
