You're probably not old enough to remember when Squeaky Fromm's gun misfired or Gerald Ford would have been killed. It was a big story for a week or so, but life moves on. Had either attempt succeeded they would have been bigger stories.

Dion, in my sheltered experience with friends from extreme sides of both liberal and conservative spectrums, most of them believe they are in the “middle”. My best friend is a guy who will pull the democrat lever no matter who is running, but considers himself to be in the middle. We kid the Hell out of each other almost daily about our political views and bring up stupid things each one of our candidates say.

I disagree. Both parties should be able to hear what they have to say and be able to work across aisles with them. As I said rank and file workers are more and more leaning right and starting to claim their union bosses don't represent their interests.
