I honestly think Obama thinks the Iranians are better allies to have than Russia. Something has to be triggering this little adventure he is on besides kissing Muslim ass.

I don't get it, and I don't want to. I'm honestly concerned about the truth of what Americans are being used for in this world as I read CNN stories that the saudi's are indirectly involved in 9/11 attack and we are helping them as well as other Middle East countries while burning bridges with allies.

It just seems as if this America is siding with the wrong folks. I could be wrong, who knows, but if your comfortable with the road we are on I can not say it enough you just don't understand our history.

The Israelis had lots of back-channel contact with Iran for years. Even with all the public anti-Israeli slogans from Iran.

The Iranians have one of the most modernized cultures in the area. Most Iranians don't hate us even though we up-ended Mossadegh and used Iraq to kill half a million Iranians in 1980-1988. Baffling, but true. They are, after all, Shia who are apostates to Sunni Muslims. If there's anyone in the area who could help us defeat ISIS, it would be the Iranians.

"information" is only as good as its source.

Actually, that's practically the definition of the "ad hominem" fallacy. The Reality Principle is "The world is independent of my will." What's true is independent of what we'd want it to be. It can come at us from a dizzying array of sources.

You have to kind of wonder if Trump is a plant and his whole campaign is a shame. Trump is a billionaire and you don't become a billionaire by being dumb. His off-key remarks and statements wouldn't be made by a teenager running for class president let alone the republican nominee for president.

Oh and there was that little meeting between him and Bill Clinton before he announced his presidential bid.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...b30bb8-3ae3-11e5-b3ac-8a79bc44e5e2_story.html

Sure you can become a billionaire [I doubt he actually is one after his debts are totalled, but anyway] if your Daddy cosigns with you on everything you do until he develops dementia in the mid 90s and you take out loans on your trust fund, etc. Trump has done nothing but fail since Fred los this battle with Alzheimers. He is only relevant now because of the TV show and he uses his name, the name his Grandma and father built, on companies that other people built and often bankrupts them or stiffs his contractors, banks, etc.

Listen to him talk. He is much more clueless about politics and policy than any candidate I've ever seen and says absolutely nothing of substance about how he might try to actually do anything. His 'policy' announcements are hodgepodges of misinformation and gibberish and have no basis in fact.

Does that mean I think he's dumb? Nope. He's brilliant in his own way. He will lose badly, but even after the inevitable die down of a lot of his support he will always have 15 or 20 percent of the country that will always believe in him and believe that he would have made it all better if he had not been 'robbed' in a 'rigged' election.

Imagine 40 to 50 million people always believing you were fighting for them and how much money you could make off of them if you were as cynical and ruthless as this guy is?

This election will solve any 'cash flow' problems he's ever had. That's all it's been about.

This may be true, I do not pretend to know.

But I will say we aren't getting attacked as often as the rest of the world.

If only someone had said "the media crusade against Trump will be unlike anything ever seen." Wait - someone did! Actually several of us, right here on Catpaws. I don't care about Trump. Like many others, there's a chance he'd be absolutely horrible. Worse than Jimmy Carter horrible, which I wouldn't have thought possible. My concern is the unified effort against him by those who are supposed to report news in an objective fashion.

So you say, meh, he's doing it to himself with beyond stupid remarks. To that I say, first, if both candidates do/say ignorant or corrupt things, and you magnify one and minimize the other, you can say "we're just reporting what he's doing" but you're dishonest by half. And second, it's more than that anyway. They are creating news stories. This stuff is right out of 1984. Here's Howard Kurtz, the media critic:

"I’ve never seen anything like this.

Things reached the point yesterday morning that CNBC’s John Harwood tweeted: “Longtime ally of Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign manager: ‘Manafort not challenging Trump anymore. Mailing it in. Staff suicidal.'”

And there was this from CNN: “A source tells @DanaBashCNN that some Trump campaign staff are frustrated w/ candidate lately, ‘feel like they are wasting their time.’”

I am told by knowledgeable campaign sources that Manafort is not going anywhere and believes that Trump will be getting back on message.

I am further told that reports of a planned “intervention” with the candidate, led by Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani, are false.

And the sources also say that, contrary to media reports, party chairman Reince Priebus is not furious with Trump, though he is disappointed with the nominee’s refusal to endorse Paul Ryan."

Trump is doing a fine job derailing himself. CNN et al don't really need to make stuff up. There are longer term repercussions to this. They've always had a left-leaning bias. It was more subtle. But once you go this far - gloves off, open warfare, making zhit up - how do you put that genie back in the bottle? You know this is justified in their own minds - they are saving the country. Traditional media is crumbling anyway. They'll never go back to even illusory "objective" reporting.

foolish & counter productive to claim the polls are wrong or skewed, they ain't perfect but I think the current reports do reflect reality. Hilldawg enjoying the positive bump of a week long propaganda show where all her sides biggest stars were dragged out again. but more importantly Trump shooting himself in the foot....with a machine gun...and then taking out everyone around him on the recoil.

HOWEVER

it is also foolish & stupid to think this is the end game. Check the excellent graph on realclearpolitics, this ain't the first time Trump's poll numbers have sunk & the lead has grown huge. End of March-beginning of April it was 50-39! big mistake to think the current situation is static & nothing will change in the next 90 days.

I believe what he meant is that information can be changed to fit the narrative of the author. We have seen this time and again in recent years over a myriad of topics.

Who's laughing at us? Why do you want socialism so terribly? Are you unable to take care of yourself in this tough ol world?

We have the best medical care in the world , why would you want to change that?

Do we have the best medical care in the world? I honestly dont know. The numbers from the WHO dont show that. We may have the top doctors, but best healthcare?

Which Country has better healthcare, seriously. If you had a life threatening disease would you go to another Country?
If you needed surgery, and the option was wait 6 months and get it for free in Canada or have it done next week here for a $1000 dollars what would you choose?

Drs work with people who can't pay, believe it or not. My wife is an ARNP at a cancer office, they have patients that pay $5 a visit if that's all they can pay. People aren't and haven't been going without medical treatment.

We are way more unhealthy than most places, all other places correct? 75% of the worlds drugs are ingested by us, or whatever. Alllllll the fake foods and bullshit we eat. We are horribly awful at health, and our life expectancy is? Idk, I know you stat guys do.

It's hard to take anyone so serious when they can't count (on one hand) how many months there are until the election...

But yes, a lot can happen within the last three months before the election...like more Republicans publically saying they cannot support Trump, the likely hood the House projects to be tilting to the Dems, the media starts to discuss who Hillary will be nominating to the Supreme Court...lots of things.
Yeah I meant to say three, don't know why I was thinking four. My point still stands though.

Serious question, Trump supporters:

Let's set aside the talk of bigotry, sexism, Putin, immigration and muslims for just one second.

Does it not at all worry that Trump has said in the past that he won't take nukes off the table for the Middle East and even Europe and reportedly asked multiple times recently, "why can't we use nukes"?

And please don't respond with a question about Hillary. Let's keep it on topic.

It's easy to parrot the line of racist and bigot. But show me a quote that's racist or bigoted. I challenged this days ago, and Noone could come up with anything, other that a quote where he said some mexicans were good and some were bad.

Maybe he is. Maybe he isnt. I don't know what's in his mind or heart. But if you think he's racist or bigoted, it's based on opinion; not words that actually came out of his mouth.

Like I say, it's just a scenario. But when your best hope for victory is a massive terrorist strike, we're in weird territory.

No one hopes for that. I surely never said it. Posts like this are why Noone takes you seriously.

Do we have the best medical care in the world? I honestly dont know. The numbers from the WHO dont show that. We may have the top doctors, but best healthcare?

I think that's an excellent question without an easy answer.

My guess, without stats to prove it, would be that we have the best Healthcare in the world for those who can afford it. But not the best Healthcare for the rest of our population

1.5 billion, including 400 million in cash flown over on a plane. 17 Iranians released from prison or have their arrest warrants withdrawn.

All to make Iran live up to a deal it was already supposed to live up to; and it's broken at least 3 times that I can think of.

Obama...he sure knows how to negotiate...

Has any Presidential candidate ever taken "nukes off the table"? Any candidate who would do so is an absolute fool. Moreover, if said candidate ever said that, the only logical policy would be to further guarantee the immediate destruction of all American nuclear bombs. After all, if they're off the table, they're off the table. If they can never be used under any circumstance, then what's the point of having them? And, if they're going to be kept for an emergency, then they're not really off the table, now, are they?

A fair media would present the same question to Hillary Clinton, and, if Hillary Clinton gave the same answer, then the subject should be promptly dropped. If she lies and says that, absolutely, nukes are off the table, then she should be challenged as to exactly when America will eliminate its nuclear capacity.

As an aside, did you know that previous Presidents couldn't, and wouldn't guarantee that America would not first use nukes against the USSR in a hypothetical World War 3? Because, absent the first use of nukes, there would not really be a great deterrent to the Russians sweeping right through Europe in a conventional war.

have the best healthcare. but the healthcare system is both way too expensive and way too complicated. add in the fact that as others are alluding we're stupidly unhealthy. go to Japan or France or where ever - the men weigh 170, the women 120. here, 2/3 are either overweight or obese. which leads to heart problems, circulatory issues, diabetes, dementia, a preference for Democrats, cancer and other such ailments - then we wonder why our life expectancy is low.....

The big story today is Trump claims theres a video of Iran bragging about the ransom pay, media questions it (even though the video really exists)

Hillary and Obama blamed a youtube video for Benghazi and the American Pravda media said zilch about it.

Doctors, may work with people, but going into bankruptcy for basic needs isnt really a good reply. And while they may pay $5, they are still getting charged. This is why the major problem arose. It was people like that. Its basic math. Also, if every doctor just charged $5, they would be out of work. Before the ACA, 20% of the people didnt have health care coverage. (I am not defending the ACA here)

Say I am a hospital. And 2 patients come in. One has healthcare, one doesnt. One pays me, one doesnt. Do I just lose the cost and say, oh well, I gave it to them, or do I try and recoup the cost and charge the paying person more?

But why couldnt we have both systems with tier systems? Why not a basic level of health coverage, then a premium level for people who pay more.

-Also, pretty sure you are citing a bunch of myths about Canada, it doesnt take long to research it. Nor why does Canada have to be the answer? In fact Canada is ranked 30th according to WHO.

I appreciate the arguments, but the whole thing is about economics. Our health care is way overpriced, we pay too much, the costs are going up, and in no way, is efficient. I get the FDA, but I still.

No numbers agree, nor stats, say we have the best healthcare. I mean, maybe we do, but its hard to argue just using anecdotal evidence.

Also, I think NPs are a great way to cut cost.

trump supporters do not care about policy specifics or details. trump supporters only care about white nationalism. trump voters think that white people being shamed for racism is a bigger problem than white people doing racist stuff. there is a reason why trump's strongest demographic are low income white people with no education. the only way for trump to win is to get as close to 100% with this group as possible and really only one way to do it. these people no longer care about policy specifics.

This is probably closer to the truth. I never understood why we couldnt have tiers of medical coverage.

The issue wasnt people being uninsured, but those uninsured, their burden on the rest of the paying system. The ACA was supposed to fix that, but obviously, we got duped, screwing up premiums to what medicare will pay.

Why not have some basic level of coverage like we do with automobiles? Like liability, standard and premium etc.
