Got away from it & now catching up on back seasons. Is unreal how close it is to reality.Sometimes I wonder if the writers of Homeland, and the writers of this simulation we live in are conspiring together.
Your post belies your arrogant ignorance. She has already retired her debt. It is so amazing how people here assume if they "talk" with someone on this board who they disagree with, they must be talking to unsuccessful and foolish people. Those ignorant assumptions are repeated over and over here by people who simply cannot listen or acknowledge people without judgement, judgement which more times than not is poor and inaccurate.
I think it is you that is confused. I paid for my daughters undergraduate degree at UK. My choice as a single father raising his only child. You spent time serving your country and that is something I respect. You got help for your service from the government. I have no problem with that. I have several nephews who have done the same. So let me impart some knowledge to you that you may not think too much about. We make our own luck in life. REPEAT, we choose our own destiny.
I earned my BA the hard way. No handouts. After leaving UK, I attended other colleges and universities during my 20-year military career. The time came when a bachelors was required for career progression.
I borrowed against our credit card, continued working full time and chose a less prestigious university (Southwest Texas State rather than University of Texas) to complete my bachelors at 40 years old. Later, I decided on using my GI Bill for grad school. Because of health issues, I dropped out 6 hours shy of obtaining my masters.
That's the beauty of this country, Levi. It's called choice. Be prepared to pay for your choices.
And if one of your socialist swine candidates are elected, Levi, and forgives student loans, then guess what? I want my share of the pie, too.
Understand, Levi?
Why does the opinion of several politicians matter? There have been lots of politicians who want to, and did, expand the power of the federal government. Just because they were elected means they were right? I guess if you follow the logic you are trying really hard to get people to buy into, Trump would be right because he was elected. Personally, I have little respect for the opinions you posted. Why should I put stock in what they say. FDR, for example, was a a firm believer in expanding the power of the federal government and his policies helped create and extend the great depression. Being a pastI have posted the thoughts of Teddy Roosevelt in the past 24 hours to illustrate what an honest to God Republican thought about the roles of business and government. I hope some here would read for themselves what the men they say they admire, actual greatness and a stall-worth of the GOP and his rugged principles. Now here is another President from another era with his words. People should be aware of their history I believe.
We make our own luck in life. REPEAT, we choose our own destiny.

Are you telling me there were no less expensive options for that degree? If there wasn't, assuming you aren't completely economically illiterate, the rewards of having the degree must have been worth the debt she took on. If it's not, why didn't she do something different?Respectfully you do not know that which you speak of. I raised a child and paid for her undergraduate degree. She sir then spent three years as a wildfire fighter out west and then paid to get her master's in catastrophe management. Before she was given a full ride scholarship, her only debt that which was the first year of graduate study was over $100,000.00. So you'll have to excuse me if I save a little of that Fuc them for your myopic and ignorant take of what students today face from profit driven academia. Basketball and football are not the only things about college money has Fuc'd up.
WOW You really do have a problem if you cannot concede some Presidents have stood the test of time and are considered to be worth your time. I mean heck Lincoln, Washington, Taft, Hoover, Roosevelt ---they're all the same aren't they? This is a remarkably vacuous take on American history. Why does the opinion of several politicians matter? President doesn't automatically make your opinion on economics, etc., worth the paper it's written on.
I'm pretty sure from reading your recent post there is little reward in engaging you on anything other than what you assume to be realty. Are you telling me there were no less expensive options for that degree? I didn't say some Presidents shouldn't be considered, you did. I said I don't respect the opinions you posted. That's a completely different meaning than the one you assumed. I respect, for example, what Lincoln accomplished, but he did a lot of things to accomplish his goal of keeping the union together that was not considered Constitutional. Why should I respect his opinions on those matters just because he was President? I can think for myself. I don't have to blindly follow every thought a past politician had like you do.WOW You really do have a problem if you cannot concede some Presidents have stood the test of time and are considered to be worth your time. What was not reality in what I posted? If she got value for her degree, then what are you complaining about? The debt she took on was worth what she received. If she didn't get sufficient value for the debt she took on, then she made a poor economic decision. That is reality.I'm pretty sure from reading your recent post there is little reward in engaging you on anything other than what you assume to be realty.
Levi, YOU belittle anyone who responds and calls your bluff, not me. You throw the shit out there. WTF you expect?I think it is you that is confused. Remember when I posted my daughter went out west for three years as a wildfire fighter? Do you have any idea what that entails? That sir is actual service to this country as well with less pay than you received. You may not recognize it as such but just the same, it is. Those young men and women are protecting America as well, not unlike the Coast Guard. But she did not get the same type of government help you got. And yes a degree from a Tier 1 University in the North East is very expensive as well as hard won. And full ride scholarships aren't handed out like tootsie rolls. You got help for your service to the country from the government, she did not. Her help came only after her hard work and effort won her a scholarship she had to be talked into applying for. Help she received not for her service, but for her hard work and intelligence. She has not sniveled about her debt, she simply paid it. She does not cry about how she isn't being treated fairly. That would be you. Her cousins, high ranking officers in the Navy and Air Force respect her and her efforts a great deal as they know what her resume, experience, and life choices say about her and her achievements. To be so "American" you sure are quick to belittle some of the best of us. Understand?
Good for you. Right before retirement from active duty, my wife and I also operated a business - PC/server hardware, here in Austin.He/she/it does not understand (with a tool belt)
For the record That is almost exactly how I earned my degree but I did finish my graduate degree. (I paid as I went out of pocket.) I only did four years in the Army but opened my business and then sold it....with no debt. That is my retirement. Working on another one....
It’s really rich for anyone to belittle Biden for saying dumb things and at the same time support Trump who can barely speak a coherent sentence. You seem to forget how low of a bar Trump has set.I'm not so sure Joe has onset dementia. He's been a dumbass for a long time running around saying dumbass things. O'bama didn't let him say a single word in public for 7.99 years of his Presidency.
Field level people do the work. The Bureaucrats at the top are worthless. I know many think the whole thing is but I disagree.

I won't have you do my guessing.I'm glad. Guess you're still a dope too.
Joe Biden makes Donald Trump look and sound like GD Winston Churchill. It’s really rich for anyone to belittle Biden for saying dumb things and at the same time support Trump who can barely speak a coherent sentence. You seem to forget how low of a bar Trump has set.
the first year of graduate study was over $100,000.00.
You sure like to complain about "big words". If you're insecure about your vocabulary just endeavor to improve yourself, don't denigrate others. Makes you look weak..
Booty booty booty....big words do not a smart person make... You of all people should know that if you 're smart...oh, I forget....
So the taxpayers paid for your school but shouldn't pay for anyone else's. Do as I say, not as I do, right? Hypocrite.Levi, YOU belittle anyone who responds and calls your bluff, not me. You throw the shit out there. WTF you expect?
Ummm, so your daughter earned less than $422/mo fighting fires out west while I roasted my ass in the desert on a GD peacekeeping mission? Got it.
Again, I took out $15K in credit card debt for my BA. No one helped me - period. I finally applied for and received GI Bill assistance during grad school and continued working.
