I'm as perplexed about the border as you were about the inability of the president to ask experts what would happen if you nuked a hurricane. The only arguments against it that make sense are from libertarian types that are concerned about being trapped inside the border and the amount of land the government has to steal. Nobody on the left cares about either of those things.
