Commander-in-Chief Send Them Back’s race baiting rhetoric plus easy access to guns = El Paso. Key the Trumpsters in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . thoughts and prayers to El Paso. That plan of action is working so well to curb mass shootings . . . not.

The US isn’t the only country of the world that has people w mental illness. I would imagine mental illness rates are fairly consistent.

I would imagine they don’t. I know no other country in the world has the drug issue we do (legal and illegal). I would also imagine nobody diagnoses mental illness quite like we do.

We have a lot of problems in this country, and I think drugs are near the root of a lot of them.

And our gun laws “prevent” mentally ill people from owning firearms. We don’t/can’t enforce it. Enforcing laws we already have would be a great place to start. Not exactly sure how you do that, but if you make the laws, you need to enforce them.

Doesn’t take long does it? Time to politicize the hell out of these shootings. I already heard on the top of the hour news that El Paso was a hate crime and Trump is to blame. People died, but who cares? Time to start racist, gun to blame, Trump is mean narrative.

Someone older than me, when did MSM and “news” outlets become propaganda pushers and biased as hell?

The shooter at the Garlic festival purchased his gun legally. Then he illegally took it into California. And illegally used it to kill people. What laws are going to stop that?

Gilroy, El Paso, Ohio...something is a muck here, and it runs deeper than random lunatics losing their minds.
In 1968, British author John Brunner correctly predicted mass shootings as a gruesome, 21st century, almost purely American phenomenon in his sci-fi book, Stand on Zanzibar. He labeled these shooters, "muckers" (run amok).

250 is absolutely false.

There has been 22 killings in 2019 of four or more. Not 250.

22 is not acceptable by any means and there definitely is a problem, but it doesn’t help matters by spouting false narratives.
Mass shootings includes anyone shot, not just killed.

Interesting...

More questions than answers, but there is something different about these recent shootings than the shootings of just a few years ago.

Sad thing is, we have the technology and specifically social data technology that we did not have 5-10 years ago, yet here we are.

Klebold and Harris were clearly insane, I'm sure these two recent guys are equally troubled but the fact that they happened consecutively just reeks of something more than just lost youth, drugs, joblessness, mental health, violent video games, music, racist madman etc...

If you can’t be bothered to Google then I can’t be bothered to engage. Lazy equals lazy.

This thread is a hive of toxicity. Dipping my toes in is enough for all of us I’d imagine.
Parting shot for all the Boomers wheezing as they fail to grip nostalgia and younger red pill incels:

Well I think our liberal friends are correct. The only answer is to take guns away from everybody. That way only the government will have guns. And we will all be safe. Because the government cares so much about us. There is no way a policeman would ever misuse his weapon. And with leaders like Bernie, Kamala and Pocahontas, we will be in a socialist paradise.

Other countries have even more toxic masculinity.

Your dumb number causes the kind of toxic polarization that makes conversation impossible.

Threads like this are the madrassa of domestic white terrorism. Took me less than two hours to realize. Should have taken less but benefit of the doubt and all that.

Just because you got the floor wiped with yourself, that doesn't make the people that are much smarter than you a domestic terrorist. Thinking like that is what actually causes terrorism. Since we are terrorists in your mind, it is okay to harm us. Your thinking is very dangerous.

It's times like these where I would expect the Black Community to be more outraged.

The attention these events get next to the massive violence and crime problems Chicago, Baltimore, Memphis, St. Louis, etc all have.

I mean seriously, think about it. You're from one of these places, the shootings and chaos in your neighborhood/city barely make it out of local news, but the country stops and calls for Congress to get back to DC for these other events.

I mean, I understand the significance and tragicness of dozens of people at once but lets back out to the big 20,000 foot view.

Baltimore alone is on pace for about a 400 homicide year...Where exactly is the outrage and commentary on that? Where is the spotlight on the political leaders from those areas who those people voted for? Where is the rush to the gun debate in those towns? Where is the analysis of the rhetoric those individual criminals subscribe to? Anyone forensically analyzing their computers, ipods, photos, social media?

Are you seriously gonna gulp down that four mass shootings happened in Mexico and Brazil?

If so, why would people need refugee status to come to such a murderous cesspool in the USA?

What the **** are they fleeing anyway?
