Thanks.

It's easy to conclude those differences are about race. But without other factors such as income and employment and parentage - single mother, etc. - being controlled, hard to know if those differences are truly due to race or social status based. It's not a "justice" system - cops, prosecutors - fault how the laws are written so no reason to take these issues out on cops.

Who are Police Killing?

"The racial group most likely to be killed by law enforcement is Native Americans, followed by African Americans, Latinos, Whites, and Asian Americans."

" Law enforcement kills African Americans at 2.8 times the rate of white non-Latinos," per population amount.

"While younger African Americans were the victims in 1 in 4 killings by police in the 1968-74 period and 1 in 7 in 1975-84, today (2014), that proportion is 1 in 10."

I would LOVE for our basketball team to take knee. Many in the fanbase act like these kids can't have opinions, like they can't have voices. They're old enough to vote, and have a life outside of Rupp Arena. Having an opinion and being able to protest is not only protected at this university, but encouraged by President Capilouto.
It's way too much stuff to reply to, so I'll just say this:

I made this statement because our university and President Capilouto encourages our students to express their opinions, and does not restrict our student-athletes from protesting both off and on the court/field/pool. Whatever opinion that they have, it is theirs! And if the non-athlete students can speak out, then the athletes can speak out as well. If you can have a stance on what is going on in the world, they can too. You don't live their lives, you don't get to restrict their voices.

That was my point with my statement. Whatever you guys believe, you have your rights to believe that, to speak out, and protest. And whatever they believe, they have their rights to do so with encouragement and full respect from me.

"The Democratic Party depends on racism -- more precisely the perception of racism -- for its survival. Without a seeming non-stop race crisis in our country, that party would no longer exist, at least as presently constituted. It would hemorrhage voters, with large numbers of African-Americans soon tiring of the Democrats' fusty socialist economic schemes that have failed black people especially.

Our inner cities, almost exclusively under the control of Democrats for decades, have been wrecked, families shattered, in part, by the policies of that party. We all know that. The football players deep down known that and so do the cynical team owners. They're all participating in a pathetic charade, pretending (or convincing themselves) the police are the problem in black communities. The police aren't the ones shooting each other in Chicago and Baltimore. They're the ones trying to stop that from happening. This is so obvious..."

So non-Americans are supposed to involve themselves in US politics? They can't vote.

oh boy, might wanna read up on his denial of records requests. particularly the sexual assault cases most notably covered by the herald leader, which also led to him condemning his own student newspaper for not even expression opinions, just reporting facts.

dumb ass millenials trust anything man...

*sorry, he actually sued the student paper. And won in fayette co court for something not exactly related to what the student paper was doing...shining light on the sexual predator, and how the university handled the situation. student paper even redacted names, had a letter from one victim who came forward, and UK just shut them down by alleging they were protecting privacy blablablab, which was not the issue to begin with. Student paper was shining light on how the university hushed the assault and paid the accused to leave.

It was and still is the most outrageous thing I've seen from a local university - universities who are becoming increasingly....idk the word...controlling and make up their own rules to control whatever narrative they want to push. There are perfect examples from Transy, EKU, and tons from UK. They become more and more of a business every day, and less of an institution of higher learner, a bastion of free thought and expression. Basically a leg/extension of our corrupt government. It's fn scary.

Totally different situation. And bringing that up still doesn't change the fact that they have a right to free speech both off and on the court.

As long as Capilouto is the president, they will be allowed to use their free speech.

lol

Seriously, get a clue. I mean, the mfer sent out a "personal" email explaining himself. What? You think he's just being a nice and transparent guy while he buries transparency with lawsuits?

And to your silly point, which isn't important in the least - No shit kids can voice their opinions. But whenever something important comes up, something that could f up money, or enrollment, etc....UK has shown time and time again that they suppress the facts and bury them in lawsuits to protect their business/brand....

...which leads to the obvious. You will not see our players taking a knee for reasons listed above.

So what are you implying? That it's not a problem?

And I guess you missed the "tip of the iceberg" reference.
You should read the observations of a white mother and how differently her black adopted children are treated in public vs her white children. I'd link it for you but realize that you're not interested in trying to understand anything.

The problem is that there is a lot of violent crime in our country, and a minor segment of our population is commiting most of it.

You and I are kindred spirits JStaff. This was the first thing I thought of.

Great minds and all that eh?

I still watch family guy and think it's great for the most part. When they try to get political it bothers me though. I prefer South Park for political funny. They make fun of all sides and views.

Roy Moore is a terrible candidate and I wouldn't be surprised if the senate election in Alabama went blue.

Edit to add: Luther strange was equally as bad and trump supporting him was one of the first things I wasn't sure why he did.
Threw a bone to McConnell for tax reform support IMO

I could go for raising first Fed tax bracket to 12% while 2Xing std deduction AND eliminating state & local tax deductions. The last will hit the blue states big time - as it should since they have the most $$ & haven't been paying their fair share to Feds.
