Re tariffs: I am now retired and just do enough business to give the wife and I enough to do keep busy work, but years of imports have devastated the industry. Most of our suppliers have been gone for years. Right now there is one small supplier left in the USA and he is dishonest and has poor quality. There is a small supplier in Canada who is honest but also has poor quality. The last options are in China. Honestly they have the best quality by far. I bought my last supplies from China through an importer we know. On some things they are the ONLY option. I am fine with tariffs, though it may hurt me personally. What I am not fine with is the policies over the years that drove off so many manufacturing jobs. I suppose eventually the jobs might come back, but it won't be quickly. greed from all facets of our society brought us here and politicians facilitated it.

The executive orders prompted a flurry of memos and emails obtained by NBC News that modified the rules for staff at intelligence agencies, in the military and across civilian departments regarding employee resource groups and the celebration of cultural awareness events.

This week, the Defense Intelligence Agency ordered a pause of all activities and events related to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Black History Month, Juneteenth, LGBTQ Pride Month, Holocaust Remembrance Day and other "special observances" to comply with President Donald Trump's executive order, according to a memo obtained by NBC News.

The memo listed 11 observances that are now banned. It also said that all affinity groups and "employee networking groups" are immediately on pause.

The directive comes as the Trump administration has made it a top priority to go after any programs perceived to be related to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the federal government.

The DIA did not immediately return a request for comment.

I didn’t realize how partisan things are though. Is this thread a good sample of people that follow politics? If so yikes. Very rah rah and just blind party following. The guy yelling about eggs over and over again like a 12 year old kinda just saying “I know you are but what am I” and posting daily stock quotes not actually trying to engage in productive conversation. A lot of other guys acting like appointees are their grandchildren and supporting them to their death. I guess politics have always been this partisan idk. Doesn’t seem like this would overall contribute to happiness though. I feel like you guys are in the last two minutes of the Kentucky/UT game 24/7 lol. Way too stressful.

This thread is 85% staunchly conservative. A good chunk of those guys are pretty informed, though. There is a good lot of conspiracy theories. Lots of links that eventually are pulled because they were misleading and then no one follows up on the misconceptions. I read this because it keeps me grounded. Many dudes are smart, provide insight I don't normally see, and are Kentucky fans to boot.

The democrats are outnumbered. There's a few that embrace the villain role and troll the rest of these dudes. What you get here is hyper partisan, but I stay here because they bring an interesting perspective I don’t get on my Lexington NPR station, or the BBC, Reuters, etc.
