As a Republican, I don't care if Johnson can use the recess appointment. This is not the intended use. Let it play out. If it costs us Gaetz, so be it. I won't shed any tears.
From my understanding: Since mitch says no recess appts, let us say the senate fails to set a date. Johnson can call for a date to recess the house. That would allow the president to step in and set a date to resolve the dispute. I'm certain the D would fight it. It appears to be in the constitution, but I don't think it has been used in that manner before. Not 100% on it though.

Well gaveling the Senate into session and the bullshit pro forma session strategy while the senators jerk off at home is also outside the spirit of the process, so you’ve gotta do what you gotta do.
If it were up to me, I'd start at the very top of this graph and start investigating how they managed to beat a very good S&P by 500% or more. Honestly, there may be a very legitimate reason - start up company went crazy, they bought a bunch of options (leverage) on NVDA or others that went through the rood (although I'd question WHY they were so inclined to do so since leverage works both ways), and other ways. But, my guess is there's something fishy about many of these jokers making so much money in the market in one year. Maybe that's how so many somehow go from somewhat well off to fabulously wealthy in just a few years of 'public service'.

As long as you have ownership at these mainstream outlets that is seriously compromised or biased with an agenda, trying to work with them will be futile. Sen. Thom Tillis’ Halloween party invites last year had Gaetz as an unflattering zombie on it…it’s not just the Murkowski’s and Collins’.
DeSantis could earn back some good will from Trump folks by appointing him to the Senate, because I don’t think he wins the race without an appointment…especially without massive fundraising. If he’s appointed, then RUNS, he gets a lot of that fundraising back as the NRSC, etc have to back the GOP incumbent.
Don’t know if that’s the plan, but it’s what makes the most sense to me.

I don't believe that is possible at least in the case of Gaetz. That law permits appointments only within the agency or of some other Senate-confirmed person.
