Illegal: Vote buying. Vote tampering. Foreign government meddling. Preventing someone from voting. Mechanical interference with the machinery. Electioneering near a polling place. Using public funds to further a campaign. Forging an opponent's likeness or voice. Exceeding certain limits of financial contributions to a candidate. Coordinating campaigns with the candidate after direct financial spending limits have been reached.
Legal: Running in opposition. Giving speeches. Buying advertising in support of a candidate or in opposition to a candidate.
Not illegal: revealing embarrassing information about an opponent, bringing an indictment for a crime the candidate may have committed. (Running for office isn't a Get Out of Jail Free Card)
Illegal: using certain public facilities for a campaign event. <=======
