Brooks is a necessary counterweight to the other side of the Republican Party, generally. That said, his enthusiastic support of Obama in 2008, going all-in with the ridiculous "from now on we'll reference time as either Before Obama or After Obama" nonsense, disqualifies him, IMO. In short, don't care what he has to say.....

Looks like it checks out. Hoover in 1928. Eisenhower (Nixon VP) in 1952 and 1956. Nixon in 1968 and 1972. Ford (Nixon's VP, unelected as either VP or P) doesn't count as he wasn't elected. Reagan (Bush Sr. VP) 1980 and 1984. Bush Sr. 1992. Bush Jr. 2000 and 2004. Between Bush Sr. and Nixon you get 16 years of VP, so that covers a lot.

FBI, via the NYT, weighs in on Obama's dismissive remarks Sunday:
Those statements angered F.B.I. agents who have been working for months to determine whether Ms. Clinton’s email setup had in fact put any of the nation’s secrets at risk, according to current and former law enforcement officials.
Investigators have not reached any conclusions about whether the information on the server had been compromised or whether to recommend charges, according to the law enforcement officials. But to investigators, it sounded as if Mr. Obama had already decided the answers to their questions and cleared anyone involved of wrongdoing.
The White House quickly backed off the president’s remarks and said Mr. Obama was not trying to influence the investigation. But his comments spread quickly, raising the ire of officials who saw an instance of the president trying to influence the outcome of a continuing investigation — and not for the first time.
A spokesman for the F.B.I. declined to comment. But Ron Hosko, a former senior F.B.I. official who retired in 2014 and is now the president of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund, said it was inappropriate for the president to “suggest what side of the investigation he is on” when the F.B.I. is still investigating.

I enjoy seeing early 20 somethings favor a socialist. It's like they have no concept of knowledge or history and I guess socialism always sounds good to someone who has no money and hasn't worked a real job.

We've been teaching "fairness and equality" for at least 30 years now. This is the result. That's why it's so silly to play this D v R stuff, and get mad at current politicians. Yea, they suck, but the wheels to socialism were set in a motion a loooooong time ago by people who also sucked.
Easy to comb thru this thread and find anti-Trump posts by many Reps. And he has many enemies in the conservative media. And last I looked HRC has a commanding lead on support vs Trump.

I touched on this earlier but kids and socialism always cracks me up. I have some in my journalism classes that are all about it and big Sanders supporters. The thing is, if you put socialist concepts into something that's relative to them then it's a different ball game.
For instance, they have no money so it sounds great to take it from someone else. However, ask them to make their grade or GPA "socialist" and collectively the same and see how quickly they say "that's not fair."

Heisman. I think Americans still think we live in a capitalistic free market system. We don't. The free market is long gone and ain't coming back. We have a fake perception of "free market". We're trying so hard to keep government out of our lives that we have let big business completely takeover.
Like i have said. You better take notice with TTIP and TPP. because it is global, multinational nation building is happening and its already killed our free market and that is a bigger threat than socialism.
