I've never thought he was good at debating. He just looked good at times because the other candidates were so terrible. So many times though he could have knocked it out of the park with what someone served him and he usually missed. His "you'd be in jail" remark was probably his best retort.
The problem with your view is that you think it's "freedom from religion". Jefferson was the genesis of "separation of church and state" yet he was a Christian and donated bibles and paid for preachers for the army during the revolution. Christianity is the basis for our legal system. If you completely push out Christianity, then you undermine the point of our founding documents. Nobody is demanding people accept a religion but only Christianity is being banned.
Our constitution doesn't work in an atheist majority.
Trump is what he is. He's rough as a cob, a street brawler. But I'll give him credit for this; and it's one of the reasons I prefer him to all of the other choices; he hasn't spent an entire lifetime, insulated inside of the DC beltway. Where politicians spend decades "grooming" false personnas, carefully manicuring their financial "presentations" (so they appear innocuous to the casual observer or disinterested government oversight agencies), and essentially becoming a smile and a handshake in a suit. All while assuring the public that they are only there to HELP them.

It is. You are free to worship whoever. Or not worship. Forcing christianity on students, is just as bad as rainbow flags and such in classrooms. It tramples all over human rights. Jefferson was a christian. But he understood why freedom of religion was so important. The founding fathers were a mix of christians and religious skeptics. Jefferson understood freedom of religion allowed for a more free society. This is why I say you guys are stupid. You aren't small government. You're just small government on issues you don't like. As soon as you can, you start advocating for stuff like this. The left is no different with free speech.

I prefer NOTHING, but not because I'm against gay rights or Christianity. I'm more pragmatic. Our country is so far behind in education now, that we don't have TIME for all of that distraction in schools. We need to be focusing every hour of every school day in the pursuit of practical matters.

And Jefferson was most definitely NOT a Christian. He was a deist, and rejected the virgin birth and the resurrection of Christ.

Jefferson was kind of a ''custom'' christian. He was a christian. But he didn't believe in certain aspects of it. Jefferson was no lamb, and no follower, but he considered himself a good hearer.
Not to nitpick, but it's virtually impossible to deny the resurrection of Christ, and be a Christian. The resurrection is the absolute. It is what defines Christianity. It's completely binary. If you don't believe in that, it doesn't matter how you describe yourself.

No offense but you're more stupid than you think I am. The whole point is that you think it's freedom from religion. You are advocating banning Christianity from public areas out of a sense of freedom "OF" religion. I'm not saying no one is pushing religion but you need to admit you are prohibiting it.
Legally, according to SCOTUS, "no religion" is a religion. Without freedom from religion there is no freedom of religion.
Do you also think that freedom of speech means that the Constitution prohibits anyone to ever choose to remain silent, or that freedom of the press constitutionally requires all US citizens to work as journalists?

To tie Jefferson back to the debacle we witnessed last night. If you're not familiar with Jefferson and Adams running against each other, the bitter feud between them made the golf/dick measuring contest last night seem like child's play.

For rank choice voting to actually make a difference, you would need American voters to pay a lot more attention to politics/platforms, and put in some actual thought about how to rank their votes effectively in order to effect chan.....

Why? All you do is rank the candidates you like. If Trump, DeSantis, Biden, and Bernie were on the ticket together I think most people could put those four in order of preference pretty easily.

From what i saw, the most promising thing about the debate was trump appearing to follow an actual strategy. He didn't do that at all last time.
Hopefully enough people watched to see how legitimately senile biden really is.
Trump is a terrible debater. I watched the whole thing and it just sucked. Trump won only because Biden was dead in the water. I have said this before, I have never been a fan of Trump but, as a person who gets things done, he is the only option we have right now. We desperately need a good third option.
After last night, it's probably best you sit this one out going forward. If Trump fails to deliver, then you're free to pounce in a year or so. Go find a ferret or something to play with.
Trump debates well when the topics are specific. It got off track last night due to the subject matter and Biden's inability to handle his lack of brain matter.
And no, we don't need a 3rd option. Why do people always say that? If there was a good 3rd option, then they would have been on the stage last night in one of the two spots. And why do we need someone else vs the person who will get us turned around? His pre-covid numbers for our economy speaks volumes, and we were #1 on the global stage.
