Lack of pay leads to 1) not enough officers and 2) many that are hired being subpar. Both are major obstacles to actually fighting crime and getting this mess under control.

You can easily get there by not wasting money. Plus alcohol sales in ky go directly to law enforcement iirc. So there is already no shortage of revenue.

The vast majority of federal spending needs to be cut. Federal income tax needs to drop base zero, and states/cities should find ways to increase revenue, income tax or otherwise.

Similar to cops, I think congresspeople should get a significant raise and penalties for corruption should be life in prison or death. Right now, the whole point of becoming a federal “Public servant” Is to make money.

Money is wasted across the board but there are some funds that can only spent on law enforcement. Those are wasted instead of going towards increased salaries.

Extremely doubtful. In fact, I would expect enforcement of the sentence to be set aside until the appeal has run it's course. Trump is a first time offender, and the "crime" (chuckle) was non-violent. Even lawyers/prosecutors on the left don't think Trump will get any incarceration (which includes house arrest LOL)

Just like Kansas City, in the hit musical, Oklahoma, this trial has "gone about as fer as she can go."

Many states call that an appeal bond.

I wouldn't be shocked if they did sentence him to jail but I think they will issue a sentence but suspend the sentence. Then use some bs reason to revoke that, which is a judicial determination without a jury and a much lower standard of proof.

I have no clue whether this is true, or not, but if it ends up being undeniably true, it will be interesting to see what effect it will have on minority supporters. This may well end up being a nothing-burger, but reports are now surfacing. Of course, the timing seems very suspicious because of the recent trial conviction. The jury, based on the evidence that was allowed/not allowed to be presented, and the expansive jury instructions, probably got it right.

Surely nobody on here was surprised by the verdict. If they were, then shame on them.

But, as I've said, IMO it won't matter.

It's pointless to rehash the trial and verdict at this point. It was a fait accompli.

All that is left is the election.

It’s tiring. Just a consistent attack on different levels for solely political reasons. I just don’t see us getting past this era of politics.
