Not asking to shut it down. Just asking them to take it out of the COMMUNIST CHINESE hands. What kids in China see is night and and day vs the trash and brain washing for US kids. Saw something today that 39% of TT users would rather lose their voting rights than lose access to TT. Now that is some kind of brainwashingDo we really want the government to have the power to shut down apps and websites though?
.Oh....almost forgot, I do have internet..
China is so embedded here that banning tiktok won't accomplish anything. 8 years ago it might have mattered but China has subsidiaries in every tech co. Most experts say that China gets way more personal data from Americans from US tech co's than they do from their own spy ware.
Can't wait for the "we criticize him.all the time" crowd
That's my fear. Patriot act has hurt Americans more than it helped. We were promised it was temporary just to make sure we were safe after a huge terrorist attack... now we find out they are spying on us using illegal means to go after Americans.Tiktok needs banned for security reasons because it's a malicious app collecting unprecedented data on America and it's people.
But the bill banning absolutely needs to be so narrow that nothing can be interpreted as banning or policing anything based on content
I would say Rand is worried about the slippery slope that we are constantly told doesn't exist but then we end up sliding closer to a totalitarian state. LOL.I have to say I don’t know what to believe about the tik tok situation.
Why can’t it explicitly say that it applies only to the CCP?
And why are people like Rand Paul standing up for it when it’s a known tool of the CCP?
Very troubling. We have been sold out, people.
I know some of you guys are "principled conservatives", but wtf is wrong with you defending TikTok? Are you all f'ing lunatics?
I'll worry about Twitter when that time comes, but HO LEE FUK some of you are just insane. Looking at you Rand Paul.
- China doesn't allow our social media (so no market for our companies)
- The government gains access to our data, trends, desires, needs
- They also tweak algorithms to sow discord in our country.
Racist is used interchangeably with prejudiced. Races are made up, the prejudices based on them are too. So using it when talking about bigotry toward a religious or ethnic group is applicable as racial boundaries are imaginary anyway. Saying someone is being ‘racist’ towards Germans is just saying they’re prejudiced in more colloquial terms.

Well I’ll tell you that I for one am SHOCKED.
Its amazing how much IMPORTANT stuff gets ignored by the MSM.
Case in point (from Twitter, naturally): California wants to give illegal aliens interest-free first time homeowner loans. Denver is asking rental property owners to specifically rent to illegal aliens.
This is bullshite: end all federal funding to sanctuary cities & states. Taxpayers should not subsidize those violating the rule of law!
Money. Voted for Trump twice and will again and I like R Paul, but is what it is. That being said, I’m against the ban as well but I’m not getting any money out of it haha
Trump met with a billionaire GOP donor with a big stake in TikTok just days before he publicly tried to save the app
During his time in the White House, Trump tried to ban the app but lost in the courts. Now, he's changed his mind on the matter.www.businessinsider.com
Rand Paul backed by GOP donor with $33B TikTok stake
The billionaire CEO of Susquehanna Financial Group has given Sen. Paul more than $10 million since 2020, and his fund also owns a 15% stake in TikTok’s parent company.nypost.com
LOL. I remember when he first won people were complaining that inflation went up to 130%... They didn't want to admit the spending was why inflation was bad. It took a few months to work it's way out of the system and eventually they will stabilize if they stay the course. If spending way more money than you take in was good for an economy then everyone would do it and prosper.
Hey, Resident Libs, when will you be holding mushbrain accountable for all of his blatant lies?
China is the least of their worries. They use that to gaslight. They want it in the hands of someone they can control. They don't like a platform that allows for open communication between American citizens that they can't censor, ban or manipulate the algorithms of. They want control of all media and what people see and hear. Not asking to shut it down. Just asking them to take it out of the COMMUNIST CHINESE hands. I have no facebook, Instachat, Snaptagram, whatever else. I don't post on X but read things that come up on it. I do admit to scrolling TikTok a couple times a week, and my feed on there is largely conservative based for any political content that comes up outside of the food or beverage reviews, funny animal videos, funny baby videos, comedians or travel destination videos. Mine and my Good Lady Wifes feeds are very similar actually. Though she buys shit off Temu, I refuse to do that. Point being, A lot of what tends to come up politically in my feed would be censored or removed from most other platforms. my wife has gotten facebook warnings for some very innocuous things she's posted in the past, so she stopped posting anything remotely political on there anymore and just uses it to communicate with family and friends.I have no Tik Toc, no Facebook, but I do sometimes browse. on my wife's Facebook, no Twitter, or Twatter. My only source of social interaction is hacking around the keyboard with you un-blocked knuckleheads, which I very much enjoy. I also own and participate in texting on my cell. Other than that, I live a very boring but fun life. With that, I would not want the government having more control over free speech and so on. Jus my 2 cents...Oh....almost forgot, I do have internet..
if you own a cell phone, your data's been breached. your data is already in anyone's hands who wants to manipulate what you see and read. Banning TikTok is just a blip on the radar of data collection. People need to understand the ban or forced selling is about CONTENT manipulation not data collection.China is so embedded here that banning tiktok won't accomplish anything. 8 years ago it might have mattered but China has subsidiaries in every tech co. WEF/UN planting their seeds, then going after anyone who voices opposition to it.
We all wish you didn't have internet.
Not to mention the election interference both companies engaged in as well. This line from the WSJ editorial board is where a lot of us differ, I think:
While U.S. Big Tech companies may lean left, they aren’t motivated to harm the country.
I’m not willing to just absolve US Tech companies, including as directed and controlled by the US government, from responsibility simply because the CCP has a stake in TikTok.
Twitter and Facebook were basically under the control of the US government through Covid, and our country will never recover from the harm they contributed to.
Meanwhile Steve Mnuchin is waiting in the wings to pick it up in a forced divesture. Would love to see a list of the beneficial owners and/or all the LPs in that fund. Probably a list of politicians voting to force the divesture.
