When I was in school during the 1960's & 70's our country was flooded with guns, 10's of millions of guns. And in those days compared to today there were almost no gun control laws, Yet these school shootings never ever happened. Could you tell us why this was? I mean anyone with 2 or more working brain cells can see by this that guns are not the problem. It takes a finger to make a gun work. You take prayer out of schools, you take the 10 commandants off the school walls & this is what happens. And which political party is it that doesn't want prayer in our schools? Way to go democrats, you destroy everything you come in contact with.
Thoughts and prayers will do zero for this issue.
The AR15 didn't start becoming a regularly purchased gun until the 70s/80s. It was banned in 1994 because of it's use in high volume killings and drug trade. That ban expired in 2004 and was never banned again since then.
This issue has nothing to do with prayer or 10 Commandments in schools. Nobody is stopping anyone from going to church, praying or following the 10 commandments. That is not the school's job to teach that anyway.... It is a parent's job.
I truly believe that the reason church membership has fallen to all time lows has Zero to do with schools and everything to do with politics.
The church lost it's way in the 80s. They began focusing entirely on politics instead of their ministry. They spent their time and money on politicians and culture wars instead of preaching the word of God and Jesus.
The politicians they back, like Trump, are hateful meanspirited people who use religion like a weapon to go after groups of people they don't like.
The church and Republican party are now seen as ONE entity. You automatically alienate about 50 percent of the country with that transition.
So when Trump or other right wing politicians bash trans, gays, teachers, democrats, women, immigrants, scientists, doctors, etc... They don't just hear a politician trashing them..... They hear the church trashing them.
And you wonder why there is no prayer in schools and church membership is dying.
Look in the mirror if you are a Christian my friend. Hate and politics doesn't sell well or feed the soul.

Sorry again Sambo 🍺
I have no problem with that. The business owner has every right to defend himself. I am not talking about handgun ownership.
I am talking about the ease of access to weapons by criminals and the mentally ill. I'm talking about mentally ill teens being able to buy AR15s or accessing them in their parents home.
Im talking about unenforced red flag laws and gun show loopholes.

Terribly false.

Look closer at your stats there. There are lots of things going on with that link, but the first and most notable is that the US isn't the lightest shade. Like almost half the rest of the world is.
The whole point of my argument is that while the US is by far the most heavily armed, wouldn't one expect us to be far and away at the top of that chart in terms of violent crime per 100K. We are at 4.9 per. There are 76 countries ahead of us on that list. Many of which have very strict gun control laws.

My conclusion is that If not for the several cities in the US where violent crime is rampant compared to the rest of the country, that we would be far and away one of the safest and far better than we are already as a whole. People in most areas tend to be deterred, knowing their prey might have the means to fight back and end their life.

Yeah you're right the real scientific question for the Adam and Eve scenario is how two individuals birthed the whole population without issues. @BlueRunner11's posit on that and our resulting back-and-forth about God's intent was all speculative. Granted.
How many kids could a couple make over 900 years?

Your idea of study and mine are likely very different

Who said there wasnt issues? Cain and Abel?

Further proof that "guns" aren't the problem.

@sambowieshin @Dionysus444, Do you objectively look at those individuals and conclude they are of perfectly sound mind and body and that their behavior is not that of someone who should be under the care of a mental health professional? Is this the type of behavior we are supposed to normalize, accept and enable?

Curiosity got the best of me after we got on this topic and I did a bit more digging and reading some trusted experts and Bible scholars on the subject and I still land at the same place.

There must’ve been some type of accumulation of defects that made this type of reproduction harmful that likely could’ve also been expedited post flood as the atmosphere, climate, diets, etc all now had changed as well as a limited source pool.

Lifespans dramatically decreased starting with those born after the flood and we know that even a single genetic mutation can greatly affect age even with todays interventions. Some scholars have theorized that one of Noah’s sons may have even been affected by such living a much shorter life than Noah despite being born pre flood.

So when it came to “starting humanity all over again” from Noah’s family on, there was a much less perfect gene pool to start with this time around and it also may have even been affected by external environmental changes in this new type of world post flood they lived in.

The Great Flood and later, the Tower of Babel (roughly 100yrs post flood) would’ve been two major events pre Mosaic Law that would’ve created a genetic bottle neck of sorts that would have greatly limited the number of available alleles in the overall imperfect pool. This could be where things really started to get set in motion that would inevitably cause God to condemn close kinship relationships at the point in time He found it necessary.

Again, this is just my opinion.

Very good summary. Also requires less faith than atheism.

So because violence happens primarily where about 80 percent of Americans live.... It is not your problem?? Do you not realize that without America's large urban cities your podunk town would have less than nothing to live on?
Cities are the engines that drive state income, innovation, trade, medical services, and agriculture usage.
The main reason for the high crime is high gun usage and murder rates from them.
Any time dems try to do something about guns the NRA and Republicans go berzerk.
I will fully admit that some Dems are way too soft on crime (not me) but that combined by the ease of gun access is what is destroying lives and our way of life in America.
It's a real problem when you can't send your kid to school without worrying about them having their head blown off by a nut with an AR15.
Without podunk towns, you wouldn't have food to eat.

There's enough podunk towns to drive down the overall violent crime rate from 20-30 or more per 100K in a handful of cities down to 4.9 per. So don't give me this crap about 80% of the population living in Metro areas.

So a mentally Ill kid is only going to go for the AR15 when they have their desire to shoot up a place. Take away AR15's, and all the gun violence suddenly stops? So as soon as you ban those and a kid shoots up a school with a 9MM, then what?

Reading the tweet above, the police are stating it was a targeted attack. Makes one wonder if Matt Walsh or Daily Caller staff have children that attend that school?
Think they’re saying that particular school was targeted because of the detailed drawings of the schools layout. Wasn’t a random school. But don’t think they have any idea why that particular school.

Strawman my ass. Do you have any idea how extreme the United States and our lack of gun laws is compared to the rest of the world???
You think guns being the leading cause of childhood death in the U. S. is normal and acceptable??
There is no other developed nation on earth that has this problem... NONE.
You gun nuts are so indoctrinated and whacked out by your gun worship that you are blind to how completely F'd up America is on this issue.
It's like growing up in a ghetto where gun violence and death happens every five minutes and nobody thinks a thing about it. America has become one big gun shot ghetto and you think it's completely normal. It's not.

Now you're just scaring yourself. While no loss of life should be downplayed around 4000 children a year die from guns in the US. 30% of those are suicide. There are around 75 million ppl under 18 in the US (thats more than the entire population of canada and virtually all EU countries) . I'd bet if we broke the numbers down further they would be mostly 15-17 year olds and concentrated in the same neighborhoods mostly too. Again not to downplay any life.

That's hardly the nonsense wild west you've scared yourself hiding under the bed for.

I'm not even saying to ban all AR15s. But the background check and licensing process you go thru to get one should be CIA level. You should be at least 21. You should have 0 evidence of mental health issues. You should have to produce at least 10 references. You should be required to do a safety course. You should be required to have it stored in a gun safe. If anyone living in the home has mental health issues related to violent tendencies ALL weapons should be required to be removed from the home.
There are things we can do as a society to make this country safer to live in than it is.
Sadly.... We just don't value our children enough in this country to do it. The fact young people keep killing children and nothing is done about it explains why they feel the way they do. They aren't valued and they know it.

Left wing violence, especially among trans, is becoming a national problem. Someone had best step up and call this for what it is. This is not a white Christian male problem it is a left wing issue. Left wingers are doing the vast majority of mass killing.

The rest of the world hears that excuse and thinks we are insane. 3000 people die one time at the WTC and we launch a 20 year war, spending trillions of dollars to protect us.
4000 kids a year die from gunshot wounds.... 80,000 kids over 20 years..... And there is nothing we can do.
Pathetic country.

If I have a mentally ill person living in my home, I should be able to take the proper precautions to prevent them from accessing the weapons within my own home. I should not have my rights to protect myself and family infringed upon because someone with a mental illness is in my home.

How exactly does the church bash these people? By pointing out their wrongs?

“Mean-spirited”. The rallying cry of those whose real problem with religion is that it has no gray areas. When the church tells you that what you do is not what Jesus said to do, that’s not “trashing”. That’s teaching. It should encourage reflection.

You’re very representative of the exact problem: people who believe that it’s not THEY who are at fault, but that fault lies with those who dare state the obvious. Open rebellion against God, instead of reflection. Look around at the predictable results.

Sure there is. We can build more prisons for killers; we can put the National Guard in the worst neighborhoods where the vast majority of those numbers come from; we can shut down the border and greatly reduce the drug flow; we can ramp up police presence.

We could even speak out against the violent culture that’s celebrated in music and entertainment.

But somehow we never do these things. Because these are things opposed by Democrats.

Ironic that Trump put Chris Wray in as FBI Director and he is head of the investigation to put Trump in jail. But as always Trump blames someone else. This is what Trump argues about his choice of Wray.

1) The verdict is out on Wray: 'time will tell, okay?'
2) He is not convinced Wray was a bad choice: But in the next breath says, "I may have made a mistake"
3) Trump didn't choose an FBI director his voters would support: "people from the other side, Democrats, wanted Christopher Wray" Another horrible pick that will be used against him in the primary. Add it to the list.

An AR15 should not even be allowed in that home if a mentally ill person lives there. It should be removed imo.
