But it's "dangerous rhetoric" to say religion is being targeted by Dems.

Will they be arrested? They are planning an assault on a federal building, will they be declared Domestic Terrorists? Will they be imprisoned for years without trial?
I think the reason we can't agree on many of these major issues facing our country is because we have a diametrically opposed view of the definition of "destroying America".
In my world, destroying America means women have no control over their own reproduction rights.... They have no control over their own bodies. I grew up in an America that was not like this.
In my world, destroying America means that guns are the leading cause of death for children in America. Destroying America means my grandkids have a greater chance of being killed by gunfire than killed in a car accident, cancer or any other cause. This is not the America I grew up in.
In my world, destroying America means that the government now tells parents what type of medical care they are allowed or not allowed to get for their trans kids.
In my world, destroying America means there is no longer a separation of church and state. It wasn't always like this.
In my world, destroying America means I live in a society where guns and people that love guns are more protected by laws than our children.
In my world, destroying America means your religious views can be turned into laws to weaponize our government against individuals just trying to live their lives in peace.
In my world, destroying America means you have the right to tell others how to live their lives even if their lifestyle has ZERO impact on yours. I grew up at a time there were no laws against trans, gays or drag shows.
In my world, extreme far right Republicans are turning red states into Taliban religious theocracies where individual rights mean nothing anymore unless it's the right to own weapons of war. AR15s were illegal at one time. There weren't as many mass shootings.

I just don’t accept that premise. We have learned so much about the universe in just our short time on this rock. Throughout all of history authorities have told us to just be content with how things are and not to question. I disagree. Question everything in pursuit of knowledge. Knowledge is what has led to all the advancement we’ve been able to accomplish over the ages. Calling something unknowable is a cop out for the lazy or a tool to control.

Authoritative federal and state democrats policies on lockdowns, forced vaccinations, BLM/Antifa riots, defund the police, prisoner releases, labeling soccer moms as domestic terrorists, verge of WW3, food shortages, etc have made gun sales in this country skyrocket even in the most liberal areas.
The last 3 years or so, I’ve had many CA democrats who have never owned or even shot a firearm approach me asking questions about purchasing and training. Unfortunately they still haven’t put 2 and 2 together to realize it’s their policies and support of progressivism that has caused them to feel this unsafe.
You should probably not read too much into an NPR/Marist poll.
Looking at their percentages per party for the poll, it was 38% Dem, 33% Ind, and 29% Rep, that isn't reality.
Also, they also post past favorable and unfavorable polls on Trump. In November of 2016 this same polling firm had Trump with a favorability of 30%, how did he win the election if this poll is accurate?
The political coalitions of 2023 have little in common. In 1955 there was significant cultural, religious, and societal overlap. Everybody that was part of the conversation was a white Christian man. They had different ideas on how to solve problems, but that was basically their only difference. Now the two coalitions have hardly anything in common. One is still the white Christian men who wish things were more like those 1950s. But the other has become a rainbow coalition of all the ‘others’, minorities of race, religion, and sex. They still both see the same problems and have differing ideas on how to fix them, but the makeup of the actual people in the parties has changed so it’s easier for both sides to focus on the ‘who’s and not the ‘why’s.
In all the constitutional law discussion we’ve had on here over the years I’ve probably quoted the Constitution more than any other poster. And I’m a far lefty. We all love the ideas of freedom and equality our country was founded on. We just hate our neighbors we see as perverting those values. And it’s easier than ever to identify who’s who. When you see someone walking down the street you can guess their political affiliation probably more than 75% of the time. It didn’t used to be like that.

You are missing the point. We aren't talking about science here. We are talking about why God did certain things. It's unknowable no matter how much effort you put into it. If it were a scientific endeavor I would agree with you, but this has nothing to do with science. It's speculation on why God acted in a certain way, which is unknowable.

We're talking about the origin of our species. Historical facts that happened. Sometime in the past our species arose. That is a fact. Whether God did it or not, it still happened. We can absolutely discuss and learn about those facts. That is science. Throwing up your hands and saying 'God did it! We can never know' is defeatist dross to placate the incurious.
Does anyone know if the Nashville shooter was Antifa affiliated? To me, this is far more pertinent than its gender status. I'd like to at least hope that most of the trans community would condemn what happened yesterday (and, without the "yes, but" than Dion and Sam contributed). I'd hope. But I have no corresponding hope for the woke weirdos of Antifa. I seriously doubt a single one of them is saddened at all by yesterday's atrocity.
