Again, it’s a good question. I think you answered it within your question (closer to the heavenly source having purer DNA) is why it took longer to see the effects but this is just my theory. Possible example would be cancer and other diseases developing into a stage 4 etc…they don’t necessarily start out that way. Naturally occurring death was not immediate. Adam lived to 930 yrs.
I wouldn’t think God would be fooled into the Targaryen approach. His omniscience would know then what we know now about the dangers of inbreeding. This why I feel like it became more of an issue as time went on when God would need to condemn it as a practice.
It’s also possible that God allowed it for a time, being as populating the earth was necessity despite the possible defects that may have just existed from the get go as well. I’m not sure, it’s an interesting topic and we are just not privy to that information as to why.
There are also scholars that will say it was never something God allowed but it’s hard for me reconcile that with only creating two beings at the head of the genealogy tree when Gods plan was to populate the earth.
The important takeaway is that at a point in history, God condemned it and the people became aware to not continue it and that has been the standard from that point on. There is no debate post law. Before that, we can only make guesses really.

Unfortunately it will probably keep getting worse. This is what happens when a society decides to discriminate against a minority and leave them feeling powerless and angry. The same way kids who are bullied lash out.

Not surprised. They are now a group who feels they are being discriminated against and made powerless by our Christian right politicians. It is going to be a similar pattern of kids who are bullied in schools using guns to seek revenge on those they see as mistreating them. Not saying it is right.....but there are always repercussions for extreme government overreach. This is just the start of it I am afraid. Not good times for sure.
