My 13 year old’s team had its season shut down as, well, because the coach got tired of losing.

Parents,

With the loss to GF today, we will not make the playoffs. There is only one regular season game left on our schedule against S, which is a true A team that was moved to our league from the higher division, in two weeks. As coaches, we don’t think it makes sense to practice for the next two weeks to prepare for a game that is not likely to be competitive, based on our scouting. We informed the girls after today’s game that we will not play the S game.”

I thought this was pretty lame, but at least no one was murdered.
Life lesson. When the going gets tough, quit.

Honestly can’t tell you who we beat or lost to when I was 13yo for most games. I’m sure we got whipped as much as we won. Point being, doubtful any kid is going to get emotionally traumatized over a loss. Depends on the kid, but most I’ve coached this age are over it 30 minutes after the game.

End of the day, it’s just about the experience of playing at that age imo.

'....who was hospitalized Wednesday after feeling lightheaded at a Senate retreat,....'

So...they've worked less than a month and they are at a retreat. Even if a 'working retreat'....still.

“His lung exam was clear, heart rate was regular, and his strength was normal in all four extremities without any strength or coordination deficits,”

Only thing here that is reflective of a stroke and the effects therefore may be coordination deficits. My Mom had a stroke and was basically in a coma for 3 years, but her heart, lungs, etc were good.

'Fetterman “was forced to do as much as possible — he had to get back to the campaign trail....'

Am I wrong or did he not run a 'Biden campaign'? Little travel. Few events. Etc?
Didn’t matter if he campaigned at all. And don’t give me. How bad OZ was. The fix is in in PA

'And as remote learning forced many parents to effectively take on homeschooling duties, Garrison Stuber said some families found joy in taking their children's education into their own hands.

"Homeschool's dirty little secret: You end up really liking your kids," she said. "They're enthusiastic about what they're getting into and the things that they're learning."

How many of you older guys went thru rush week? Hazing was common for new pledges. Lot of crazy stuff, but mostly in good fun. Of course over the years there's been some 'bad apples' that have taken it too far....but hazing has turned into another form of cruelty, etc.

Read where New Mexico St. suspended their season because the team was involved in some way with 'hazing' but it wasn't spelled out.
From a Fox article....

'Arvizu said NMSU players and coaches were in California preparing for Saturday's game against California Baptist when the decision was made. The game was then canceled, the team was called back to campus.....When the team arrived back to campus, Arvizu said they were "met and interviewed by university personnel who are specially trained to conduct investigations into these kinds of matters."

Do colleges have anyone 'trained' in actual teaching these days? Seems that everything is equity, diverity, cultural, racial, etc.

Yeah, it looks like many did not realize just how easy it is to home school and how cost effective it is. We are seeing a lot of this as the woke culture has helped to ramp up the number of parents starting to home school. The one good thing the pandemic did (I believe an unseen negative to those who planned it) was force parents into a situation that actually turned out better for them. Plus, parents are spending more time with their children. It has actually brought me and my daughter closer.

I‘ve got a feeling it has to do with more than just hazing.

I did, I survived hazing of Lambda Chi Alpha at UK and Drill Sgt School at the Armor Training Center Fort Knox. Several didn't at both places.

I think Lambda Chi got kicked off of UK's campus a few years back. I stopped getting letters asking for donations. I contributed for about the first 20 years after I graduated. When I went through hazing one of the things we had to do was stay up for several nights without sleep. That was tough to do and stay alert.

This is encouraging. Seeing public schools having to close in Washington State because of declining attendance is very positive for the future of our children. Kids that receive an education and not indoctrination will make it in life.

Our universities are plain evil. 🤬

Our universities are plain evil. 🤬

Our State Legislature and Governor are tackling this problem and upsetting the apple cart. You wouldn't believe the opposition to simple common sense issues that the Universities oppose.

One is no CRT can be taught in a state supported Florida University. Another is really getting their ire. Tenure. Every professor in a Florida Univeristy has a review once every 5 years to determine if they keep their job. If they are dead weight or teaching communism or even worse they can be dismissed immediately. And you do not have to wait 5 years. If the Board of Trustees, students, University Professor or anyone else on the teaching staff have an issue with a professor they can request a review.

Why a person would be against that is a mystery yet it is understandable if your reason for teaching is to indoctrinate the student rather than teach truth, science and the arts.

"trained" means they attended a 2 hour "class".

The Republican war on Social Security and Medicare seems like something that would concern a lot of good hard working Americans that spent their whole lives working hard and playing by the rules only to find out that Republicans like Ron DeSantis want to take a chainsaw to their benefits because rich people need more tax breaks.

Look, I'm not sure why they hate Social Security and Medicare so much, but they've got a lot of plans they're trying to hide from the American people until after the election so whatever risky schemes their whole party seems to be plotting need to be stopped and really voting is the only way to send them a message that the Republicans need to leave Social Security and Medicare alone.

science says their are many genders because it is a social label. You are confusing sex and gender. and sex is also not binary because you can be intersex with allows for basically an infinite number of variations. sex is bimodal and always has been and you are probably to stupid to even understand what that means.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable day watching basketball today, but i wasn’t watching the cats. i went to my three grandson’s games and they all won.
I'd rather do that than watch UK in a national championship game. Can always watch that later. Never get time with grandkids back.

Good for you.

Coached my 9 year old and her team to a thrilling, 24-23 victory today.

My Saturdays are admittedly more stressful than they used to be as we run our kids around to sporting events, I coach, etc, but it’s much more rewarding than spending the day watching college basketball.
Spot on post.

US planes don't belong in Canada airspace. Not in our national interest. Doesn't directly impact us.
You don't think a security alliance between the United States and Canada is in our "national interests?"

We operate in the airspace of our allies all the time. Hell, we operate in the airspace of our enemies a la in Pakistan taking out Bin laden all the time. Maybe you were being sarcastic.
