1) It's HIPAA.
2) This story can be verified without revealing info about the child. At the very least, the author and editor can explain their efforts to verify the story. Was the child a source? Was any effort even made to confirm the abortion doctor's story?
3) If HIPAA was REALLY a concern, we should not know ANYTHING about this story. Instead, we've been presented with an unverifiable hypothetical, the only source of which is a doctor who advocates for and performs abortions. If the story actually turns out to be true, the alleged 10-year old has a possible breach of contract/negligence/invasion of privacy/breach of fiduciary duty (HIPAA law does not provide for a private right of action) lawsuit against the abortion doctor, especially given that people will now be investigating this and likely identifying and harrassing the alleged 10-year old to verify the abortion doctor's statements.

I think Occam’s razor applies here….. the simplest explanation is the logical explanation. This story was fabricated to advance an agenda.
