Dude, you are nuts. He’s supporting whoever is fighting Russia-the same Russia you wouldn’t have dared not to oppose in the 80s. Newsflash: the head of Russia was in the KGB in the 80s and wants all of the old USSR back together. Like, they’re the bad guys. Drink some New Coke and watch “Stranger Things.”
Plat is factually incorrect here-the term “the right of the people” is mentioned in two other amendments. It always refers to individual rights. Secondly, the term, “militia” in 1787 loosely referred to non-professional soldiers. It was only in the late 20th century that it began to refer to state soldiers, like those that comprise the national guard. And why the heck would there need to be an amendment granting the right to bear arms to a standing army?
Besides, Heller established an individual right to keep and bear arms, so you’re really not right on any point. You have no leverage, no argument, and no point. The freakin’ Founding Fathers stated why they put it in there; why are you acting like they didn’t put it in there for the exact reason you are dismissing?
BUT we sure as heck can pressure politicians to pass universal background checks, red flag laws, and other laws that restrict gun ownership and access in very specific situations.
