We are the greatest country in the world and we can send 40 billion to other countries at the drop of a hat. No reason American citizens should not have id's to vote, and access to the voting booth. Mail in ballots, absentee ballots, and drop boxes should be outlawed or monitored in a transparent and non partisan way.
I fear we will never have that again, and if we ever actually did.

What you propose is literally impossible. That time passed even before China built all their fake islands that are now loaded down with anti ship weapons, SAMS, and air power. The US cannot project enough power to stop them. Taiwan is China's to take if they want it.

Third, we use historical behavior to predict future behavior. The last time the Japanese were armed they were the most insane bunch of fanatics on the planet.
Fourth, we are already in a world war. It just hasn't flamed into full brightness yet. If you know anything about the previous world wars, and I doubt you do, they took a while to become fully kindled and were ECONOMIC for a while before military action took place.
Fifth, the Japanese changed their constitution to prohibit establishing a military or going to war. This happened in...wait for it...wait for it...1947. Just two years after WWII ended. Yes, this was a direct result of us conquering them and dropping bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and ending the war. WE were the "outside force" that prompted this change. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but we OCCUPIED Japan for years after WWII ended.
