Azov Battalion is a part of the Ukrainian National Guard. They were originally a Nazi paramilitary that gained enough public support from their fighting Russians in eastern Ukraine to be legitimized. We trained and funded them, McCain met them. Democrats tried to stop when they found out about it, but Republicans wouldn't let them under advice from the Pentagon for several years until public outcry built. They're Putin's stated justification for the war, he's supposedly "denazifying" Ukraine. Which is obviously absurd as they're just a fringe group with a few thousand members whose political party got less than 2% in the last vote. Zelenskyy and his party have no affiliation with them and he's Jewish with several of his family members having been killed in the Holocaust. If anything Putin's invasion has made them more sympathetic as he's the clear bad guy now which makes them not as much the bad guys. Ask @Gassy_Knowls about them, he's been riding that train for a few days.
