The comparison is the assassination with January 6th. Both were attacks on America.
The 2020 riots and the Birmingham riots were a result of malevolent behavior, see murder of George Floyd for the former and the night bombings for the latter.
I also agree anyone who committed a crime in said 2020 riots should face penalties for doing so just like those on Jan 6.
I'm just using a different example in history to show how dumb the line of thinking is to discount Jan 6 and go nuts over 2020.

Some of us never left. Trump is just the culmination of decades of rightwing propaganda being pumped into our communities. Before everyone jumps me there is lots of liberal media and it sucks too. But the emotional appeals made to the right and left wings are different and the right traffics in pure hate. Of everyone and everything that can be perceived as an enemy. The left absolutely has its problems too. But there's a direct line from Nixon's Southern Strategy through Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Tucker Carlson to Trump. And that line is the power of hate.
Yeah, my dad voted for Obama but started watching Glenn Beck around 2010. Fear is one our most primitive traits so it makes sense to cater to it. It keeps people watching. CNN was guilty of that in 2020 with those covid graphics and chyrons.

I was watching that and said before he started that this guy being part of this administration and national security has to be wreckless and dumb and then he said that and confirmed everything I assumed about him before he opened his mouth.
I do not trust anything that comes out of the mouths of Dems, many Republicans, most of the media or this administration.
We are in a very dangerous time in our country’s history and many very uninformed and/or immature people have no clue what they are talking about. The brainwashing and dumbing down of this country has taken its full effect but I do think some are starting to figure it out. We can only hope but it may be too late.
Those were idiots making a statement. Saying they tried to murder someone takes more than that. Actions equal attempted murder, not stupid chants. BLM rioters? They murdered people, lots of them. Jan 6th? Not even an attempt and not so much as a weapon found. Give me a break.
Jan 6th is more of a symbolic event for the left. The BLM riots ruined lives and actually took lives. Remove the emotion and the BLM riots were worse in every way.
