they are a democracy but they have about 15 parties with very different interest. Half their parties are socialist, several are communist, a few are fascist and almost none are what we would consider a free market capitalist proponent. 85% of Ukrainians expect to pay a bribe to a government official each year. Piracy is still kinda legal in Ukraine. If you throw someone out of their home and scare them bad enough to not come back... its your home now.

that is actually a slightly reasonable idea. but it is not what dogmatic Christians believe. But it also only covers a small part of the Noah story. It also is not backed up by any kind of science. an event like that in such a relatively recent time period would show species all branching out from a small genome set. There would also be mountains of evidence within the same sediment layer across the planet from an event that flooded the entire earth and wiped out all life.

There is plenty of science that backs up what Genesis says, some just choose to ignore or deny it.

There was a pretty good documentary on Netflix a few years back titled, “Is Genesis History?” It includes a discussion of the sediment layers.

Also, visiting the Ark museum in northern Kentucky is pretty eye opening. It gives you a glimpse of what this would look like inside, and how it impacted the earth going forward.

I think this is what probably the majority of Christians believe. That parts of the bible are just to crazy to be taken literally. But when you have to assume that pieces are make believe then why would the whole thing not be make believe? The Noah story is very specific and never stated as a metaphor.

That's not much of a logical argument. I can flip that and make it much more convincing. We know the Israelites were enslaved as well as other historical facts scattered throughout the Bible. Because those are true - doesn't that make it all true? Of course that's why anecdote and false equivocation are fallacy.

That's how parables worked. Literal stories that had an entirely different meaning. In the new testament that meaning was revealed.

It’s interesting to me that people who are adamant that life began with a single cell are so opposed to the story of Noah’s ark.

It’s pretty evident that Noah took a limited amount of animals onto the ark, which then reproduced and evolved over time.

Look, Darwin did basic experiments that showed it doesn’t take that long for animals to change features when you cross-produce them.

Consider the likelohood that Noah took a single type of bear onto the ark (maybe even separate types, but one male and one female), and those two reproduced after departing the ark (in fact, mama bear was probably pregnant when she crawled off the ark).

Don’t fall into the trap of assuming that all the animals were exactly the same at the time of Noah as they are now. Again, back to the “evolution” that people love so much. Certain animals could have reproduced more frequently and in more volume than we see in modern animals that we study today.

This is really not that complicated to comprehend.

Putin doesn't care about nutty conspiracy theories in the US except for how it serves him. All he sees is half of our country no longer having faith in our democracy. He sees our Capitol attacked by angry mobs of US citizens convinced an election was stolen. He hears the former US President calling him a genius. He is playing clips of Trump and Tucker Carlson on Russian state tv as examples of support here for his military action.
He is striking because he sees a weak, divided, pathetic shell of a United States where most Americans either don't care or may even support him.
