ITs a pretty smart thing to tell the athletes. If you go to China and start making political statements you are more than likely going to be disappeared. A lot of the athletes are young and don't understand the trouble they will get in. IF your going to a shithole like china or NK you better understand what your getting yourself into.
Wait... why are we sending out athletes to a place that will make them disappear again?

When private schools opened up and public schools remained remote, the public school system failed parents by acting as science deniers. It was an unprecedented event in recent history, but that does not mean gross mistakes were and are not being made.
It is very easy to second guess things. For every parent screaming that you do one thing, I can guarantee there are just as many screaming for you to do the exact opposite. At the end of the day, most schools followed the guidelines issued by the CDC. That is not science denying. That is not following opinions. That is following protocol. The current guidelines are still calling for masking and physical distancing and most school administrators will not deviate from that until the guidelines change.

Looks like it's time for the rubber to meet the road, no pun intended.

Everyone knows your opinion is going to be whatever the far left narrative is. Zero surprise. Of course, you and your group will never consider the fact that you’re wrong or apologize to those who had the foresight that you didn’t.
Is there a near left group or a mid-left group as well? How about just left? Anytime there is a statement that includes the phrase "far left" I just assume it is one that could and should be ignored. As for my politics, I am closer to a true libertarian than anything else. I am most certainly nowhere near "far left".

So, what exactly are you looking at an apology for? I'm sorry there was a pandemic. I'm sorry it disrupted lives. I'm sorry that hard choices had to be made, and that some are going to be ones that everyone is going to agree with.

Do you truly believe that school administrators were trying to specifically harm children during the pandemic? That somehow, they are in the pocket of "big mask" and they go into their offices and gleefully laugh because their evil schemes of socially distancing children have finally come to fruition?

What is the end game here? If they were making these decisions for some reason other than public safety, I would love to hear what they were.

Not only are they inaccurate, they're also disingenuous. Biden's policies are responsible for some of the inflation we're seeing, but not all or even most of it. Corporations are making record profits from squeezing the life out of us. Never let a good emergency go to waste.
Ridiculous. Profits don't cause inflation. No one has a gun to your head to buy at any price.

I agree there should be checks and balances. I mean that should go for a lot of things. However letting it be a 60/40 split in favor of parents who more than likely do not have the proper knowledge or training to determine curriculum seems like a disaster.

I doubt seriously those you mention would participate anyway. They do what they do and let nature take it's course mostly when there is skin in the game, they rarely commit the skin.

I’m really confused why red state politicians who supposedly want limited government want the government involved in everything. I live in Texas. Marijuana? No. Gambling? No. Meddle in school curriculum? Yes. Meddle with reproductive rights? Yes. Control the border? No. Gerrymander? Yes. Pass different voting laws every general assembly (which, in an ironic way, actually hurt Republicans more than Democrats in Texas)? Yes. Take money from local school districts and fund districts in other parts of the state? Yes. Property assessments every year, but change tax rates so that total property tax haul remains the same (it‘s a cottage industry). The list goes on. I’ve been here for over 8 years, and I’m still surprised at the amount of regulation in a supposedly red state.

Back in the day I went to the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) every year. This is back in the days when VHS was king, so as part of the CES they had off-site an adult entertainment section. I never really saw the connection but I guess they thought they were part of the electronic boom. Believe they held it at The Sands. A friend wanted to go over to it so I went along with him. Felt like I should be like the Mayor of L.A.....hold my breath so I wouldn't catch something. Sandra Bernhard was in one booth carrying on (don't know if she had a connection with porn or just hanging out with like minded idiots). Anyway, Ron Jeremy was there signing 8x10s of himself. Told him I wanted one for my wife (as a joke)...asked me her name....wrote to her 'really enjoyed last night..let's do it again, Love Ron.
Porn was the reason that vhs won out over beta max vcr's. Porn was a leader in financing in online content way way back. I watched a movie on it and it was amazing how it was porn that was willing to hire all these young nerds to figure out how to do their business before banks did.

Friday night hit piece comes out about Tesla where - in 2021 with cameras in every pocket - line workers at their factories are constantly being called the n-word by their managers. C’mon.

It's so comical to see the complete flip of the Friday evening news dump. Now it's used to set the narrative all weekend before the conservative talk shows come back on Monday

What the hell are you talking about. The Department of Education is run by the Secretary of Education. Those other public systems are also tied to Secretaries for their specific departments. Are you trying to tell me that there have been no Republican administrations since Roosevelt? Betsy Devoss was some kind of Democrat plant? If you are not happy with the way things are, it is a both party issue. And neither side is going to magically fix it once they can finally get in control. They have both been in control and they have both broke it.
Ah yes. Betsy Devoss, warmly welcomed by teacher unions and DOE bureaucrats.

The government, starved by a lack of Democrat spending, shrinking over the decades.

I can’t even tell if this is sarcasm.

First, it depends on where you live for the “most schools” comment. Second, the CDC has been all over the board, but the science has not. That is why the schools that reopened did not experience calamity. And, masking kids has been stupid, but especially so during omicron.

What we saw during the pandemic was a situation of schools trying to make the best of a bad situation. It's a pandemic. It's unprecedented. There is no rule book for what to do in that situation. We are lucky that things have worked out as well as they have for students. We had little understanding of the virus in the beginning. We have no idea how the virus might change and mutate. We very easily could have been looking at a situation where a variant developed that was incredibly lethal to children. What would the story be if we were looking at half a million dead children now as a direct result of them being in school?

No one could predict the future. Public policy decisions are based on the masses and not individuals. It is easy to say I told you so when things work out in your favor. It very easily could have went a different direction. Each variant we have dealt with in this country has had a greater impact on children. We may yet see a variant that significantly impacts that age group. Let's hope that never happens and we find a way back to normalcy.

Good lord. The data (which smart people supposedly base everything on) showed within a few months that children were at negligible risk.

Lots of talk about doing what’s right for kids, while harming them irreparably. Inexcusable.

first off, you can't imagine how much this chaps my ass, added this is vote buying, they must know if democrats lose, this will go away. I worked all my life to retire as well as my wife. we are taxed here and there to the max because we worked. Our utilities are doubled, insurance is out the ass to cover those who have none or won't work. When will the elected politicians stand for the working man's rights?

Louisville launches $500 a month guaranteed income …
If you read beyond the title. The city isn't paying for it. United way is paying half, and some govenors initiative is paying the other half. And it's for 150 people age 18-24. $500 isn't enough for anyone to live on so they gonna still need a job. It gives a few young adults the chance to surge into their prime by avoiding starting their lives held down by debt.

Lolololololololol pretty sure blm burnt cities and caused a billion dollars in damage. Those are facts.

What's hilarious is you claim to be for the working people and now a group of the working class has started the largest organized labor protest in decades and all you got is "they're nazis" or something...lololololololol

😂 Yes, this is constantly happening in every day life. This isn’t at all a complete fabricated and delusional fantasy.

So funny how race incidents seem to never have a camera around. Like a thief in the night, they draw their swastikas and write the N word in black student dorms and leave notes on their windshield with threats. They set fire on black girls faces at traffic lights and stealthily run away.

The city IS paying for part of it. And where does united way get the money they are donating? From WE THE PEOPLE. I grew up poor in the west end of Louisville. I made it out without government assistance and without becoming a criminal. Why are the people there now, special needs?
