Nice story but a mediocre team with the gift of an easy schedule. No business getting in. An sec school deserved that spot.

And that's what Cignettti gets for running his mouth
Then get rid of the conference championship game. The ones who run these conferences don’t want to do that because of the money involved so they’re not going to make them less important by just giving teams who couldn’t even finish top two in their conference a bye. You have to incentivize conference champ and reward it.I think a lot of folks sold out to get this playoff off the ground. Teams should be seeded by their ranking.

Get rid of the byes entirely and just make it 16 and be done with it. Problem solved.
He caught Michigan in a down year. Penn State, OSU, Michigan and Oregon will not forget how he ran his mouth. And that's what Cignettti gets for running his mouth
I don't care if Bama didnt' get in over these teams. Maybe they shouldn't have lost to Vandy or played like dog water against Oklahoma. They only knocked themselves out. If they went 10-2 they would've gotten in.
Man, the IU fans are CROWING about moral victories tonight. That whole athletic program is a joke. I'm glad ND beat that ass.
Unpopular opinion, but yes. If you can’t do any better than 5th or 6th place in your conference during a 12 game regular season, you don’t deserve a shot at a national championship just because you had a good win at some point. Put the best 2 or at most 3 teams from each conference in and let the chips fall where they may. There’s no point in having a conference season and then a playoff if you want all of the playoff teams to come from the same conference. So u are ok with teams with 0 quality wins getting in over a 3 loss SC, Alabama or Ole Miss? Because that's what happened with smu and Indiana.
Yep, they're already saying just that. PRINT THE POPCORN BOXES BABY! They have "The Shot" and now this. Man, so elite.Their program is dog crap. Making this 1 playoff bid is gonna be their high point until they die.

They are frauds so 1 down 1 to go tomorrow. I'll tell u who was happiest about IU and smu getting n. Notre Dame and Penn state.

Those teams beat who was on their schedule. I know some people here just want to turn everything into the SEC invitational but it's not going to be like that. But the other issue is SMU and Indiana had zero margin for error with those schedules and they got through them. So its a double edged sword. If IU had dropped one of their games or SMU had dropped an ACC conference game they are sitting at home and out of the playoff (and they shouldn't have been punished for playing an extra game for a conference title while Bama sat at home).
If Bama hadn't gotten blown out by a terrible Oklahoma team they'd be in this playoff and probably playing tomorrow. If Ole Miss hadn't lost to us when we had a god awful team this year they'd be in too.
People that are like "Well you have to look beyond record and evaluate talent for the best teams" miss the big picture. If that's the case, then why even play the regular season at all? But If Bama was supposed to be so good this year they wouldn't have lost two highly questionable games that took them out of the running. Again, zero sympathy. When your argument is "We were the 13th team left out of the playoff" that's just laughable.
I don’t care out of fairness or anything per se but I do want these games to be worth of the playoff. I mean Alabama or ole Miss or SC might have lost but they darn sure would’ve had a chance to win it. IU did not. And I say that with respect for the coaching job they did this year and how they compete. They were maxed out but just don’t have enough bullets to challenge in a game like this…the best they can do is ‘keep the score respectable’I don't care if Bama didnt' get in over these teams. Can always tell the intelligence of a person when they use”woke”. What does that even mean in this context?100%. Committee in its first expanded playoff year went woke.

Well Clemson played 2 SEC teams, got boat raced v/s Georgia 34-3, lost at home to SC. Bama beat Georgia and SC. So,,,, I stated 4 teams, Clemson, SMU, Indiana, and Boise State was NOT one of the 12 best teams. Yes Bama lost @ Oklahoma and @ Vandy, but playing solid teams EVERY week takes a toll on teams. it is hard to get up every week in conference. When you get what looks like a easier game (Vandy / Oklahoma), teams tend to let up a bit. Where as Indiana and the other teams had easier games every other week. The main question you have to ask yourself "IF those teams played Bama's schedule, would they be 9-3 ?" The answer is NO. It is not as much about who Bama lost to, but who those other 4 teams beat.I don't care if Bama didnt' get in over these teams. Maybe they shouldn't have lost to Vandy or played like dog water against Oklahoma. They only knocked themselves out. If they went 10-2 they would've gotten in.
SMU is outclassed.Herbie said IU was outclassed. Which is a nice way of saying that they had no business being in the CFP.
10 points was not at all competitive. Notre Dame was up by 24 with about two minutes left and gave up two garbage scores after the game was well decided. For the way people have been talking about IU on here, 10 points seems pretty competitive.
ND had been blowing teams out.
They compete and are well coached. But it was also the same feel of the osu game where even if they play their best they just don’t have enough. Some of the score is them scratching and clawing the whole game and a bit is ND playing smart with the lead the second. My point is that while ole miss or Bama may not be as consistent as other teams we do know that they can go out there and win against these teams. For the way people have been talking about IU on here, 10 points seems pretty competitive.

First thing they should do is go back to divisions so that it’s typically going to be 2 teams that haven’t played in the season playing for conference championships and results will have some additional info to add for seeding or making playoffs. Then get rid of the conference championship game. I get all of the arguments against. At the same time I want to see playoff games with teams that have a chance to win. I don’t have interest in seeing Penn state play someone that can’t muster enough even if they do their best. If they play ole Miss today I’m not thinking ‘ole Miss lost to Uk’Those teams beat who was on their schedule. Everything has been chalk. This isn’t some BCS title game where a team got smoked and that’s that. The higher ranked seed has won each game like they were supposed to. So 9-12 has been inconsequential as it usually will be.I get all of the arguments against. At the same time I want to see playoff games with teams that have a chance to win.
