Mayors of major US Cities are saying

Carnival cruises has cancelled all cruises out of US until July and cancelled out of New York until 2021.

I
Quote the post you are referring to. I'm not reading every post in this abomination.

Edit: I also dont have a team, which is why I havent generalized anyone in this thread. I am a registered Republican, but independent in practice. I've literally never voted straight party ticket in my life.

A guy above went OFF the handle about trumpsters and then talked about conservatives being afraid of blacks and hispanics. I don't expect every post to be addressed, but it's not usually a coincidence when some posts are ignored and others aren't. When it comes to debates, it usually follows a pattern.

You didn't quote the post, so I can't comment on it dude. If accurate, sounds like someone who also lives in an echo chamber. Are you happy now?

Not a huge deal, for reference, post 48 (or 47):

everything ALWAYS revolves back to “Must protect Trump”

cult mentality. How about y’all go out, infect each other, kill each other, and the rest of us will clean up the mess you morons have made since this stupid bitch came alone 5 years ago and scared you shitless of Mexicans and black people.

If you ask me this is an awful lot worse than what some of the bad repubs are posting here.

Yeah awesome while tens of thousands sleep and crap in the streets. California is a disaster.

herd immunity will be in full effect by October. Loooong ways until then. Might be played with no fans for a bit, but there will be sports. No doubt about it. I swear some of you people want to be quarantined for years along with CNN.

Haven't heard this but it's asinine if true. Too early to make that call. There won't be a vaccine until later in 2021 (and many people who get a flu shot/vaccine still get the flu, you know). We're really going to stop our lives for another 15+ months? I'm thinking a worldwide depression is just as serious if not more so than this virus if we follow through on this course. More and more experts from non-US countries are questioning the complete shutdown. 'Herd immunity' is the phrase I keep hearing and isolating everyone will not engender herd immunity. (FWIW, polio wasn't considered eradicated worldwide until 2017 and we've had a vaccine for almost 70 years now; plus, there are 20+ new cases of bubonic plague in the US each year - you CANNOT completely eradicate this or any virus with a vaccine.) The financial, mental and social cost of isolation is approaching the human cost in my mind. Not trying to be callous and I'm all for continuing isolation for most at-risk but, keep everyone inside, no restaurants, no sporting events, no concerts, etc. for another year plus? Nope.

BTW, this won't be the only pandemic in our lifetime. We gonna shut the world down for a year every decade or so for every pandemic that arises? It's insanity. The number of people who will starve, commit suicide, commit homicide, become clinically depressed, abuse drugs/alcohol, physical abuse, etc. will go off the charts if this country doesn't start opening up a little at time in the near future.
WELL SAID!!!

And you believe that fake news Network. The network that cheated and supplied Hillary Clinton with the questions to a presidential debate prior to the debate.[/QUOTE

don't believe any news networks or politicians, after all Trump called this a hoax to start with, sure all the people that died from it don't believe that.

Only one I saw was LA. What others have said this? In any event, way too soon to write things off yet.
Yes, gov Nuisance said this today. we have the sports capital of the US right here in Cali. 4 NBA teams, 4 NFL teams, 4 Major League Baseball teams, 3-4 NHL Hockey Teams, 3-4 Major Soccer Teams. Not counting "G" League basketball, Minor league baseball, college sports, and numerous kids sports. Would greatly affect many if put into effect.

Yeah that quote is from someone who lives in an echo chamber and thinks of himself on a team for sure. Not sure how you can consider saying someone is scared of mexicans and black people as worse than saying someone is happy a pandemic is killing thousands of people. I agree that one is worse than the other, but I disagree with you about which it is.

He definitely hates Trump though. Hating anyone is unhealthy.

How can it be a doomsday scenario when even the worst death rates are still under 10%, but some models show well below 1%? Don't get me wrong, 10% is BAD.. but that's not doomsday. I think you've watched too many sci-fi movies lately..

Who said anything about death rates? You clearly don’t understand the risks involved if you think that was the biggest driver. You really believe old people dying cause this? LOL!

He pretty much said any conservative voter should go kill themselves.. that's what I was referring to.

I went and read it in context and I'm pretty sure he was referring to people wanting mass gatherings and to go back to work should do it themselves instead of of expecting everyone to take the risk for the economy, since he was replying directly to a guy complaining about the economy. He just said it with less tact.

No where in that post did he say all republicans or all conservatives like the other dude did about liberals. Weak attempt to draw parallels. He was still a jerk.

Not to be smartass but what do Mayors know about sporting events that I don't?
My daughter is a freshman at the University of Iowa. She got an email today that said she should expect to be back on campus in the fall attending classes under a traditional learning environment. They may make some accommodations as needed in dining halls and for large gatherings, but they are planning to be back.

Folks are starting to understand the impact of businesses and industries and colleges being shut down for 12 months.

I know this is becoming a pointless argument, debating over who was the biggest jackass on this thread.. but he said this, verbatim, and in cohesion.

I took that as he was targeting Trump Voters, aka Conservatives. It was the same rolling thought. Honestly, he pretty clearly spells out what he's saying.

Said another way, what if someone replaced "Trump" with "Illegals".. how do you think that statement is received? You put a statement like that our there, about ANY group, and it's not going to be received well. ANd even if I'm wrong, he's STILL telling millions of people to go kill themselves, overshadowing anything having to do with being scared of a race.

They canceled Burning Man today which is in August

10 Ways to Get Laid at Burning Man
  1. Show up. ...
  2. Ask. ...
  3. Bathe.
  4. Be the only person within fifty feet who happens to have coke, K, molly, X, weed, cold beer, drinking water, shower access, and/or an air-conditioned RV to share.
  5. Hang around outside of ATTOL looking wistful until some couple or group invites you to join them in the Orgy Dome.

they're hoping this goes for all time and it's the start of American socialism and the green new deal. Newsom Gates and clyburn have said so themselves. These people said in early March this was their opening for 2020 why anyone still thinks it's anything different is just in denial
Take off the tin foil hat and try some critical thinking. It might do you some good.

1. We are already working towards herd immunity. The social distancing is to slow the spread of the disease throughout the population, not to stop it from spreading. Had we not done the social distancing and shutdown, we would have reached herd immunity much faster at the cost of completely overwhelming our health care system (which still happened in the hot zones that popped up before the shutdown). This would increase deaths from COVID-19, as well as every other source of emergency (car crashes, gunshots, workplace accidents... etc wouldn't get cared for in an overwhelmed heathcare system. The amount of deaths would be staggering. We will not safely reach herd immunity without a vaccine according to every expert I've read discuss this (I'm open to any sources you can provide that suggest otherwise).

2. You mention the bubonic plague, as if that is a highly contagious pathogen that passes from person to person. The bubonic plague is rarely spread from person to person. Social distancing or shutting down portions of the economy wouldn't stop the bubonic plague. You are comparing apples to cucumbers.

3. We haven't had a pandemic on this level in 100 years, but you think we are going to have another one like this every decade for the foreseeable future? I mean it is possible I suppose, but I'd love to know what you are basing this on. We have had diseases that have a higher mortality rate by far, but they were no where near as contagious as COVID-19 (SARS 15% death rate). We've had diseases that spread as easy or easier than COVID-19 but they were not as deadly (H1N1 infected 24% of the world, but only killed .02% of those infected.) The fact that COVID-19 can lie dormant for so long before symptoms present, the fact that it takes long term care for those who present severe symptoms and the fact that it is so contagious make this a rare pandemic. When was the last time American hospitals were running out of space to store dead bodies during a pandemic? The answer to that question should let you know this isn't a once in every ten years type of event.
1. Argumentum ad verecundiam.

2. Recent metastudies strongly indicate Bubonic was generally spread by lice infesting humans, not rats as long believed.

3. I agree with most of this. Then again, we didn't have multination-funded gain-of-function experiments churning out chimeric viruses every three months for research purposes a hundred years ago, either. The foreseeable future's not what it used to be.

4. Why in the Sam Hill are you here and not over on The Paddock where you belong?

H1N1 was far more widespread on the US (60 million cases) and was declared by Pres Obama as a pandemic. Ten years ago. 7 years before that was SARS, also declared a pandemic. So, yes every ten years. And the refrain of 'this time is different' may prove to be, once again, untrue.

Most recent estimates of fatalities is 60k and dropping. Worse than the flu, for sure, but bankrupting the country and with it the rest of the world seems like too high a price to pay.

And if you don't think the Left is milking this for all it's worth and hoping the economy stays in the shitter until they can get Joe elected, you're beyond help.
