Matt Jones on KSR this morning said Cal isnt close to AD Media or Boosters anymore

I know why some of you are leery of what Matt Jones may have said this morning but in this case I feel confident he knows what he is talking about, especially with boosters...Lots of moving pieces since the horn sounded at MSG Saturday night. Don't want to say anymore. There is hope for The Program.
🤞🤞👍👍🙏🙏

Calipari got his retirement plan. To those dogging Calipari is wasting their time because Calipari is a narcissistic jerk.

His contract has a no buyout status, so it makes him insufferable to watch now. Let's hope Calipari decides to leave on his own will before the contract runs out.

I hope this is true… best thing I’ve heard since Saturday.

I honestly disagree. Winning a title puts you in the club. Winning 2 plus puts you in a different group. I think he wants another title. And they have been close so many times I think it’s worn on him. I think he walks away after next year.
Ed I agree, and I have said this that after next year, title or not, I think both parties will come to some sort of mutual agreement..

It is sad to see. Just like when Tubby left it’s gonna suck to a degree. The man brought us some really fun times from 2009-2015. I miss that Cal. The Cal that loved to mess with other coaches and teams because he knew he could win. And we all loved it.

It’s just not fun anymore. And I thin in his heart he knows it too. But just like any family member it sucks to see the decline.

Wait what? There’s no way they can axe him. Either you say what you know or shush. I don’t mean that negatively either. This fan base could use a ray of hope.

Boosters can provide pressure for him to resign on his own accord though.

He’s too damn stubborn to do that. Especially with the class he’s got coming in.

The only way I see him leaving ii if he truly thinks he tried of doing this.
The Clevenger guy seems to think he'll be axed for Dwayne Casey or Frank Vogel.

Would Casey or Vogel be great college coaches? Both very good NBA guys.

Don’t know much about either or their style of play? They wouldn’t have a roster of NBA talent but but are winners.

No way you bring in casey to an ever-changing landscape like college is now. Vogel would be weird , too

2009 to 2019. Nothing wrong with 2017 or 2019. Both screwed by officials in close elite 8 losses IMO. After that bizarre auburn loss is really when I noticed a decline bigtime. Then we had Evansville early the next season and the rest is infamous history.

I find it hard to believe that Cal would be pushed out before end of next year. Now he may announce in late February that next year will be his last year - and I would 100% believe that

but to be so out of favor they give you a vote of no confidence with the best recruiting class in UK's history coming in next year would be...well...in a word...absurd.

The Fox Monk year was good.

But Prime Cal was 2009–2015.

But I could see it. If his offense is so outdated that all you have to do is pack the lane? Even the likes of Wagner ain’t saving him.

That thought has crossed my mind. Maybe he's wore down and wants out with a nice buy out as he rides into the sunset.
Nope, tune into his radio show, you'll get a completely different feeling. According to him, it's all on the players, he has text messages from buddies telling him he's great and of course Tom Leach strokes his ego like he's Cal's horny gf.

Leach knows who butters his biscuit. He wouldn’t dare puss off Cal.

I feel like Cal will coach this monster class he has coming in and then step down. Wouldn’t surprise me if he announced his intentions before the season starts, like K.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if he got Ian Jackson to reclassify to add to that class.

He might even convince others to return (like Tshiebwe) so they can leave together.

One last hurrah and ride into the sunset. Enjoy ESPN slobbering over him the whole season like they did K. Get to have countless interviews bragging on what he accomplished off the court at UK. All the NBA dreams he made come true. All the humanitarian acts he led them to do.

It would be perfect. It would unify BBN for one season. Everyone should be happy. If you like Cal, you get one last season to celebrate your coach. If you don’t like Cal, you get to celebrate him leaving at the end of the season.

I believe he gets embarrassed enough to make a decision after this season. That decision is to finish out his class for next season then get out. If he doesn't wanna ruin what he accomplished then he needs to quit while he is ahead so to speak. Of course us fans already had enough since we haven't won a NCAA tournament game since pre covid. If he knows what's best for him then he removes himself from this mess before he flushes himself down the toilet. Next season is his last and then Frank will be brought in to stabilize the program til we figure out where we are going.

Anyone who follows UK basketball even moderately knows Calipari and Barnhart have no relationship to speak beyond a very minimal professional one. Barnhart passed on Calipari when OTS left and picked BCG instead. That could be part of the rift between the two. We know how Calipari holds a grudge.
The disconnect between Calipari and the boosters is a recent development IMO. Made worse by DeWayne Peavy leaving the program. Calipari is NOT a good gladhander when it comes to interpersonal relationships that benefit the program. When DP left Calipari had no buffer between himself and MB, boosters, fans, etc. DP had Calipari's trust and would advise him when he maybe went too far with his comments. For example, if DeWayne Peavy were still here I seriously doubt the dustup between Calipari/Stoops happens.
If I had my way UK would dump MB and hire Peavy immediately.
As far as Casey is concerned, I love that dude and wish UK would honor him and bring him back to games more often. My opinion is he was the scapegoat in that bunch of BS that happened in the late 80's. He deserves better treatment by UK. But, I seriously doubt you could drag him away from the NBA. He's spent most of his adult life there and is beyond well respected. Don't get mad but honestly, I think the UK job would be a step back for him at this point.

I'm willing to say your comments may carry some weight. Mainly because you don't post a lot but, when you do it's usually worth noting. No idea who your connections are but, I want to see the program thrive and emerge from this swamp of mediocrity. So, thanks for the hints and for at least giving the BBN a sliver of hope for the future.

Matt Jones on KSR earlier this morning started off saying Cal has kept his distance from the AD this entire time and now is distant from all the media which Cal is weird and a loner anyways so thats not too shocking but he has friends that were boosters and he's been distant from them too now.

Just curious. anyone thinks this sounds like someone who's checked out mentally already? it feels that way to me from this info.
Cal think's he is above criticism and doesn't like it when they or the fans don't bow to his so called awesomeness.
