I don’t have a preference. Just somebody that appreciates winning titles. A builder of teams. Someone that runs the program the right way, doesn’t take fans for granted.
If he wasn't from Kentucky you wouldn't give a crap about him. He's not a good coach for Ohio State.
Holtmann and Mike Brey is the names that KSR use to throw out there as Mitch’s top choice for Calipari’s replacement. I’ll still watch every game as I always have but I may need a case of Bang energy drink to stay awake. In other words, I do not want these coaches at UK
He is a good coach and did grow up a huge KY fan. Chris’s problem is he is at a football school. He beat CAL and KY a couple years back and has some good teams. His problem is the NCAA tourney, he has never made it past the first weekend.

And there are a lot more names before getting so desperate you go to a Musselman. The guy literally was fighting with opposing fans snd flipping them off. That's Pitino level shit. He is a clown and not emotionally capable of handling the stress here. Not to mention no post season success and his recruiting being limited primarily to in-state talent. And also getting played by his star recruite, ala Cal and Sharpe. Seems very odd anyone wants him here frankly.
As others have already said. He and his family are from this area (Nicholasville) and are family friends with the Barnharts. As long as Mitch is AD, the job will be Chris's when Cal leaves, barring something unforeseen.
Musselman hasn’t had any postseason success at all, two elite eights isn’t great but it’s good, and musselman hits the portal really well, all the name you mentioned are either NBA guys or are people who are never coming here, musselman is in the realistic group of targets

It’s Holtmann’s job if Mitch is AD like it or hate it. He does actually care about the University first and foremost and will Coach his players.

That will not happen as Holtmann is friends with most everyone around the KY program.
We recruit from the portal well now and are getting top ranked recruits from all over the country. That's not enough to cut it. And if he is doing that and only getting to E8's, that's not better than what we currently have. Hell, Cal has 7 of those at UK alone. That doesn't impress me.
Wright, Bennett, Sampson are not NBA coaches. Donovan is in the NBA, but he spent most of his career in the college ranks and isn't having much success in the NBA. Also, Rick and Cal were both NBA guys at some point. We hired Rick directly from it. So that seems somewhat irrelevant.
Well Calipari cares for the state of Kentucky but that isn’t enough, you have to win and Holtman would get ate alive in the SEC. The SEC is a different style of ball than the Big 10 and that stagnant style of play won’t cut it in the SEC I don’t believe.

Wright, Bennett, and donavon are never coming here, jay wright has said about a 1000 times he isn’t coaching at anywhere but Villanova, cal does recruit the portal well, he missed this year, but for the most part he kills it in recruiting, and on musselman the two elite eighths doesn’t meet our standards but he can always improve, and he is certainly closer to making runs in math than what cal is right now
I don’t doubt he’s a good coach just not good for UK. His record is pretty average at best and who knows in a few years might be someone else step up
It seems odd you are convinced they won't take it, but are convinced Musselman will take it. Without asking any of the parties. When 9million+ annually is involved, people can be swayed.
I wouldn't say Cal missed. We have a top recruiting class and Reeves is certainly one of the top transfers so far, and we only took 1. Let me know when Musselman turns a transfer into a unanimous POY and then gets him to return.
Musselman is a desperation hire for a blueblood at this point.
Yeah I watch some OSU basketball games as I know more then likely he is the next man up at KY.

Arizona wasn't exactly bare when Tommy Lloyd arrived. If he keeps doing the job he's doing the last couple of years I'd love for him to be our next HC, though. He's only 47. UK should be able to do alright with foreign players if we recruited them. Look at Oumar Ballo. Tremendous eye in seeing the talent in him. First to get him to Gonzaga and then develop him at Arizona. Only thing concerning here for me without giving it too much thought is that the man is a west coast guy.
I like Musselman, but that 47 number in the age column just really sticks out for Lloyd. At 58 how much longer is he going to coach.

It’s odd I’m convinced 3 coaches who have clearly established cultures at one school or are in the NBA and Retired wouldn’t coach at Kentucky. Musselman isn’t getting hired because Kentucky is stuck with cal, but if he were gone musselman would not be a desperation hire
As far as Drew, You can have more success at UK than you can at Baylor. I think it’s a miracle that he has ever won there.
Knowing the Bennetts style his offense is an extension of his defense. They work together. He recruits to that style. I just don’t see him fitting at UK. Takes a special kind of fan base to watch that style. Also. There is a reason Drew is still coaching at Baylor and is rarely tied to leaving. He’s not a well liked guy. He doesn’t recruit in certain states because he likes to point fingers and some AAU/high school coaches turn away from him.
