KSR/Matt Jones held accountable by Rivals

I usually try to refrain from calling people names on here but some of you all are ubearably stupid.

He should be “reprimanded” from his profession for violating the terms of an online message board? Get over yourselves. Some people just want to see someone as miserable as they are.

Matt Jones may not always be the best representative of UK but I think he deserves a little more credit than what people give him. Y’all act like he got caught drowning a box of puppies or something.

So he subscribed with an account for his business, and then let those who work for him login with that account? Big deal. The way some of you are overreacting says more about you than him.

Finally a voice of reason. I was scrolling through that first page thinking, surely I’m not the only one who thinks these people are being irrationally harsh. Say what you want about Matt Jones but he doesn’t deserve to be publicly hanged for letting other people use his account.

My 2 cents....not worth even that much

1) MJ using a burner account for KSR...meh

2) MJ using said account to counter anti MJ posts- hypocritical esp since he has called out big time athletes for doing the same exact thing

3) Info he gets...I'm sure he has gotten some from this site, but let's not forget he now has a former employee (Freddie Maggard) working for UK Football...pretty good source (ex: transfer news)

4) We just beat UNC and since I live in NC that is a HUGE deal. I will revel in this win for a while, instead of MJ and KSR

Merry Christmas everyone!

His site used some of my photos without credit. They didnt link to my site or anything. When I kindly asked them to credit me, they erased my comments and beisner told me I was being a B****. This was YEARS ago and I have refrained from posting in most all of the matt jones or marc maggard threads. But I can certainly relate to this thread and I was sharing my experience.
How did they get your photos?

Jones' practices have always leaned toward the shady side. I recall back in his early days he used to regularly get caught lifting material from posts on this board or other UK sites and passing it off as his own original thoughts or inside scoop.

I even seem to recall one time when someone (maybe Maggard?) intentionally posted some fake info as bait just to see if Jones would lift it and ...yep, sure enough.
Lol, "posts on this board"? I'm sure he built his business on that. [roll]

I know of that happening to another professional photographer. Clay Jackson. Unless that’s who you are.

I'm assuming by visiting my site at the time and right clicking my photo and saving it. I'm done posting on this thread though. I am happy and in great holiday spirits. This topic was brought up by others so I thought I would share my experience.

I have no ill will towards Jones or anyone at his site I just get my info elsewhere no big deal. As for my site, I used to to run it in my spare time I spent hours driving around the midwest and recording games, photographing and interviewing players etc. Because I love the game and have always played and been around it.

I was flattered that I woke up one morning saw my photo on his site. I didn't want financial compensation, but a link or a shout out would have been nice. They used the same photo later and again no mention of the source. Been close to a decade ago now so its over as far as I'm concerned, but I think mentioning what happened is ok.

This is a sad commentary on Matt Jones integrity. I remember reading where the Courier Journal and maybe the Lexington Herald-Leader complained to Matt about he or his staff doing the same thing with their photos. This was several years ago.

This thread has been an interesting illumination of Matt Jones and how KSR was founded. It’s not quite the admirable legacy.

I know it sounds funny, but he absolutely DID do that in his early days. And, as I recall, in some cases in just a laughably obvious manner, blatantly passing off content as his own that very clearly appeared lifted from posts here.

Ha Ha two of my uncles worked there but that factory died out years ago. There's a few nice parts of Bucyrus but the town for the most part is a dump.
The bearing business is a mere shell of itself. I retired from the Steel Division. 41 years.

It was funny, not outrageous. He did violate the terms of service but this is not the kind of thing I normally go to war over. Given Matt's well-known history in the past when he was getting his start, the fact that he has never to my knowledge really taken serious ownership of that, and the inevitable tension that comes with someone employing a team of folks to constantly lurk on our board to flip it to their blog five minutes later, he doesn't get a long leash.

But it was mostly just funny. He would roast anyone else who made the same mistake so he doesn't get kid gloves nor is he a victim.

Wish him a merry christmas though.

They did the same thing with a couple of my videos. No real credit but it got me a few extra hits... so whatever I guess.

If KSR is buying one HOB account and then giving out the account info to multiple people that is fraud. I know many don't read the fine print when they agree to a sites rules but Matt knows that for sure and is flaunting it. Burn him is all the input I have.
They don't offer company license? I figured they would along with family license.

I can’t do here, but I can do years ago. TBK had a premium membership that was pretty accurate with it’s information for a good stretch of time. Daniel Orton staying committed, Terrence Jones phone call after verbally committing to Washington, Teague to UK, etc.

Every time anything was posted in the premium section, within minutes it was posted on KSR. It got so bad, we’d receive messages telling us a fake story was going up and within minutes it was on the KSR website. No credit given. Always “sources say” which was complete BS.

I don’t hate Jones and having an account you share with people is one thing, but to take information you got elsewhere and pass it off as your own is sleazy. At least credit where you got the information from.
Wow... That's pretty bad. Has Jones ever addressed this?

You did nothing wrong. The people that have been here for the long haul know what happened and aren’t surprised over it. Merry Christmas Justin

Here's what I would love to see. People have to use their real names on message boards. Everyone makes up these funny, stupid, usually nonsense names and it gives them the license to post and kind of crap they can come up with. Stuff that they would never post under their real name. And just my opinion, 75% of the hate is political and 25% jealously.

If the folks at rivals starve, it is because they do not have the business acumen that Matt has. It cant be from a lack of content and info, cause obviously Matt steals all his info from rivals. So Rivals is privileged to the exact same info Matt had.

In a free market society, usually the one who is most gifted/intelligent will be the one who is rewarded. Since rivals and Matt had the same info and content, I would say he knew better how to market and sell that information.

Its not the information itself, but the presentation of the information. Matt is not successful because he stole, he is successful cause he is very smart.

Hey Matty! I thought you were a proponent of socialism

Why? So some guy can make fun of them on the radio? Maybe even going as far as to get real personal and look at their FB page and find out all their personal details? No thanks.

Merry Christmas, though.

At this point, I’m sure Matt has better sources than anyone on this site. The coaching staff calls into his post game shows all the time.

From a media perspective, Matt towers all. And from a celebrity standpoint, Ashkey Judd towers all. Comical how much these two personalities tigger people.

Actually from what I read KSR bought one HOB account knowing they were going to give it out to multiple people. That is so very much worse.
True. It's one thing to have an account with a peer or competitor and decide to use the account to filch a few ideas and insights. It IS different to buy that account with the intentions of sharing it with multiple people/employees for group fraud & plagiarism. It's the difference between spontaneously shoplifting a pack of gum and a planned burglary.
Anyone who can't see that is named Jones. For how many years has he been ripping off HOB?
