For years Jones inside info was nothing more than message board aggregate sprinkled in with tidbits of stuff he actually heard. He was notorious for not giving the actual source any credit; instead just acting as if it were his own.
Odd thing is - I don't think anyone cared. If he'd given the hat tip, he'd still grown to just as popular. People cared about the info, not where it came from. And noone else was aggregating. So it still would've worked the same

I feel so entirely out of the loop. I have never listened to a single moment of Matt Jones ( I dont have a twitter and dont listen to podcast or anything but music on my sirius xm ) .. I have no idea who Rowland is , I. dont even know what HOB is .... so. MERRY CHRISTMAS and Go Big Blue . .. I will say I read like 3-4 pages and some claim that the folks on the political thread are the bashing Jones here .. I dont see that connection . And I post on the political page sometimes . Yes it’s patently obvious that KSR’s “writers” when they can’t come up with new or original content to feed the site come to this message board and take threads/discussions and copy them onto their site almost always without citing the proper source or poster and hiding under the umbrella of “it’s general UK news everybody is talking about it’s fair game.”....if you are PAID to write for something even just a sports blog then create your own content and stop being intellectually dishonest and stealing other people’s thoughts.

Wow. That is a starry-eyed perspective that I did not think I would read. His interaction with us public-likes is how he makes a living.
I respect how Matt has turned fandom into a job. He has been either first or better at capitalizing on other fans’ desires and money. On that path, he has been a bit unscrupulous and, ironically, has violated the copyrights of others. Some of that is chalked up to youthful foolishness, some to lack of character. At one time, it was not uncommon to see him engaged in very childlike battles on social media.
I think Matt has matured in his social appearance over the years, which makes sense. He was a young brash attorney when he started to be recognized. My take is that he was not a good attorney. But, my take is that most attorneys would love to be doing what Matt does for a living. So, his focus elsewhere was smart.
I don’t know what a “major guy” is, but interacting with UK fans is how Matt makes his money. Many want premium content for free, so they probably like that Matt is not completely ethical in his business approach.
That and Antenna TV are my escape from this present reality.

Don’t have screen shots but years ago when KSR first came to be and Jeff Drummond worked on this site (think it was CP back then or maybe WildCatChat?? - yep, I’ve been around forever; was CrumsBaldSpot until I went LordEgg and forgot my password), Jeff would let Matt link his fledgly site to create traffic. Jones went to Duke and did have an occasional inside scoop under his Magloire52 name and was generally liked on the board. However, premium info started to appear on his site once he gained a following and he was called out on it. By the time he was banned from linking his site - his mission had already been accomplished.
His quote was “information cannot be copywrited” and used it as an excuse for stealing the info and betraying Jeff’s trust. That shows you what kind of calculated sociopath you are dealing with.

1) people that value honesty and fair play.
2) and people that think that dishonesty and theft are ok as long as "everyone else" is doing it.

This is comical. I'm not really a Matt Jones fan every since the time he stole my Harrison Barnes photos and didnt credit me. (on more than one occasion I might add) When I asked them to credit me they cussed me out and deleted my comments lol.

Good lord. I don’t care either way for Matt and I do find Justin’s tweet quite amusing. But I guarantee that some of the people verbally castrating him in this thread are doing the same thing. If not here than on Hulu or whatever.
I don't have a like or dislike for Matt Jones. I do understand where JR is coming from on this. While this seems to be trivial to a lot of people and I get that as well. KSR and Rivals are in direct competition with one another and fighting for market share and their business life. So it is a big deal to Rivals that he had a burner account and then used the info to gain more market share. I'm sure there are some really bad feelings between Matt and Justin. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not this is not a good look on Jones and KSR.

As we see in this thread, KSR has been promoted on these message boards for years. It is part of their marketing, in addition to being a source for their information. How you do business matters to some people. I suspect it matters to Mitch Barnhart, but I know some here would debate that. After Matt maximizes the pub from this (maybe CBS will run a story about the Kentucky feud?), he should own it and apologize. But, then, I did not build his “empire.” He probably knows best.
I partially agree. Matt has an awesome ability to grab your attention. He has great energy and can be funny. Combine that with others pictures and premium content and you just might have a million dollar business. While the folks at rivals and the independent photographers in the business starve.
I will just say this....Matt Jones has been great for the UK Fan base. He has given us an outlet to news and inside program access that was not available 10-15 years ago.
