KSR just said about Bamba....

Don't know for sure, but I think he was probably wrong about Murray too. On the day he announced, pretty much everybody was saying Oregon.

He was actually one of the few saying he thought we would get Murray. I think he may have been wrong about Noel. He thought he would go to Georgetown. With Matt, it's hard to say he is "right" or "wrong" because he's not really in the business of giving his predictions like an Evan Daniels or such, he simply gathers the info from his sources and gives his opinion. If he doesn't know, he doesn't pretend to know. Which is usually a bad sign for us although there are times when the closest people don't know. But when he says that the staff feels good about a recruit, that's usually as good as it gets, certainly not always though. Since a lot of people don't like him on here, they spin that around to fit their narrative and say he's all over the place. In reality, he's not, he's just reporting what he hears and recruiting changes so often. It's just the nature of recruiting but posters turn that against him simply cause they don't like him. But you've been around for awhile, I know I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.

You think Jones doesn't have sources? C'mon, the dude has sources. To think otherwise is foolish. Not saying they're always the BEST sources....

And I'm not really a Matt Jones fan but he's no "clown." Annoying? Sure.
I have sources. They are not always the best sources. I guess MJ and I are on the same level.

MJ said he had been 98% sure we would get Bamba but heard from ONE person that would know, that we won't. All other sources say yes. Wouldn't say who the one source was.

If I ran a website that depended on hits from Kentucky basketball fans and needed something to stir up hits on a slow day, a completely ambiguous statement like this is exactly what I would say too.

Didn't he say the other day he that UK was very likely getting Zion Williamson? I hope he's right on that one.

How is it ambiguous? He clearly said he was sure Bamba was coming to UK but recently heard from ONE source, one he trusts, that bamba wasn't coming.

Still said all other sources say he will come.

Somebody in this thread claims a source said Mizzu, with Knox. Couldn't tell if he was joking or not.

I think that is a joke. Bamba isn't going to Mizzou.

But, I think Knox very well joins Porter there. He is at Mizzou this weekend for a visit. From some connected people I know there they are very confident in landing him. Not sure if they are just being optimistic or if they really know something but two people have told me they believe Knox ends up at Mizzou.

I was the one who leaked the Murray visit on here and was told he was coming here, when everyone else said he was going to Oregon and was supposedly at a AAU event the weekend of the visit. Same guy hasn't responded about Bamba, I'm not sure if that means they're wanting to keep everything quiet or what but it's definitely not good news. They wanted to keep the Murray thing quiet too, so the lack of response is concerning.

Sources, AKA premium accounts.

Well, I knew Kemba Walker was going pro before it was announced (I mean, people were sure he was going pro but no one had said it). I happened to sit next to his sister on the flight to Maui.

I knew Randle was going to UK at least a week before he committed because I know someone that has a connection to Kenny Troutt.

So, I guess I'm saying, anyone can have a "source."

When a recruit has not made a decision, nobody really knows what is going on. It is all second hand gossip from coaches and people on the recruiting circuit.

Though Cal does feel good about what we have as far as big men go, I think the fact that he's been all in on Bamba for the last several months makes me feel like he knows we are in a good spot and thinks Hump/Vanderbilt will be just fine if we miss out on him.

Starting to lose confidence. If we don't get him, losing Hump would really hurt. We'd be down to SKJ and Wynyard as backups to Richards.

How many teams have a McDonald's All-American as their backup and consider themselves "hurt".:D

Guys, I'm like most on here and don't care for Matt Jones. He's horrible on the radio and even worse on TV. But let's not kid ourselves.... He's definitely in the know.

Oh boy....here we go. It will be okay, guys. There is a ton of front court talent already signed and with Gabriel, SJK, Humphries and Wynyard, UK will be fine. Not worried if Bamba goes elsewhere. He has to make that choice and as Calipari always says "Kentucky is not for everyone." More concerned about guard play next year....
You do understand that is code for, he chose to go elsewhere.

We are going to disagree.

I bet my paycheck that we have transfers from the group you mention. Probably more than 1

This recruitment has the feel of Andrew Wiggins and Marques Bolden to me. Maybe that's just me though.

I don't expect him to end up at UK anymore. Too much drama. Usually those go against us.

It's most certainly not a joke. I wish I hadn't heard it, because I really want Bamba. Like I said if you read my post, I'm in the same boat Matt Jones is in. I have a friend who knows a well respected, highly known recruiting analyst who claims this is a real possibility. And again, never did I say it was a "done deal" just thought since I don't post here a lot, you guys would be interested in the information. It's not bogus, it's not a lie. It may not happen and that's totally fine. No one is ever 100% correct in their predictions of kids, but the source I have is right more often than not.

Crazy how that happens with players who usually commit late in the process. And why is it UK always finishes second with players where "momma wins out".

Why don't mommas like UK!?!?!?

We are still pretty good without Bamba if he goes elsewhere.

We would need Johnson to come in and Gabriel to return.

Starters

G Green
G Diallo
G Johnson
F Gabriel
F Richards

Key Reserves

G Alexander
F Vanderbilt
F Washington
F Killeya-Jones

We add a shotblocker on defense (Richards) and can spread the floor with two good shooters (Johnson, Green) and two so-so shooters (Gabriel, Diallo). Three 5-star guys and a 4-star on the bench.

Add Smith or Baker for guard depth. Maybe?

We will lose some games early, but be a decent team come March. I think that's a R32 to S16 team, depending on how bad our seed is and our draw.

That seems a bit bizarre.I haven't heard a thing about Bamba being the slightest bit interested in Missouri.

I'm fairly certain Bamba already announced his final Schools as Kentucky, Duke, Michigan, and Texas. There has been literally zero ramblings from any expert anywhere even hinting about Missouri.

Bamba is VERY intelligent. The kid speaks very well and is likely very thoughtful with his decision picking his school. I think the fact that Cal is not looking at any other Bigs (even 4* diamond in the rough guys) is very telling. He's working hard on next years roster and what position do the guys play he's been rumored to be seeing/offering in the coming days? Wings and guards. That tells you how he feels about the front court next yr...

This is spot on. Seems we have a drama queen recruit every year that strings us along then goes elsewhere.

Because of Porter, Knox now has interest in Missouri (visited last weekend, didn't he?). But NOT Bamba. Someone has their wires crossed.

I said the same thing, ( in a different way yesterday ) and I felt like [poop] after a jerk reply!! :flush:

If you're referring to my post as the "jerk reply", then no, you didn't say the same thing and I don't believe I was acting like a jerk.

You said that you had been reading that he was a "dooke" lean and I just asked where you were reading that.

Bamba's two best friends are both here at UK. He's been a heavy UK lean for a little while now. My guess is that he wait's until Bam gives the word that he's staying in the draft and then pulls the trigger.

I think K and some other coaches appeal to mothers better than Cal must. I think he appeals to the players themselves and maybe the fathers.
