Kentucky Baseball 2022

Not mine either, throw the bankroll at Tony Vitello or Dan McDonnell and force them to say no.

Don't think either leave for UK, but might as well try. I just think Childress is a bit like UT hiring Barnes in basketball. It'll lift the program, but not likely to be an amazing long term solution.

I know very little about the college baseball world outside of what’s going on with UK right now, so I’ve got a question: who do you guys see as good, realistic potential replacements if Mingione is fired? I’ve seen people mention UL’s coach but I can’t imagine he’d leave them for our job. Just based on the state of our program and the lack of overall talent on our roster I feel like it’d be difficult to get someone like him to leave a more proven program.

That’s the million dollar question. Realistically, we as fans have no real clue. I know and it’s been well documented that Barnhartt tried to get some big names when Mingione was hired in 2017. The question is is the program in a better spot now then it was then. The amenities are there. But is the support from the administration there? Plus you have two other jobs in the SEC that Kentucky is competing against if a change is made. I think Erik Bakich should be the first call. Make him tell you know. He’s been at Michigan since 2012 I think. I think you take a look at the coach from Notre Dame. I’m still a fan Chad Holbrook. Chris Pollard is another name to remember.

They legitimately did not want Marsh. My understanding is that they have exit meetings and they are basically prioritized by how much the staff wants a player to return. Marsh's meeting was the very last one.

Right. This isn’t to say all of these transfers are running from Mingione. The opposite many he throws out like trash. But just because Mi films dosnt want you dosnt mean you are good enough. The opposite . His player evaluations are terrible. Need I remind you about Kessler ? Not to mention Kaden Polkovich was asked to leave and he was drafted almost only 1 year later in the 3rd round.

Not accurate. They do grads first. Then out of state. Then locals. Marsh's family is nearby. If anything last meeting indicated they were making a desperate pitch for him to stay.

Yeah I would t read anything into wether Mingione didn’t want a player. Let’s pretend Rubalca didn’t get hurt. Kessler would be entering the portal hoping to catch on with a bottom tear mid major. Not because that’s his talent level but because of the damage Mingione would’ve caused his status.

How the hell do you recruit a perfect game all American ( Jaden brown ) to red shirt him ?

I’m willing to bet he was the only non medical red shirt of the perfect game all American game that year.

And then at the end of the redshirt year you push him out the door ?

that is a head coach problem not a player problem.

Ok. Thanks for the correction. That's just what I'd heard.
No problem. Makes more sense to keep the ones you want for last. See who's willing to transfer before you get to the ones you want to keep. You see how much scholarships you have to play with for the last ones. Plus he logged 4th most innings and also had the lowest whip when I check stats.

He went in yesterday.
Officially? I know a lot of the guys put their paperwork in Thursday and Friday and were waiting for the NCAA to clear after Memorial Day. Good catch then. He was forced by NM to enter the portal, told him that he didn't have the body to pitch in the SEC (I'm being nice in paraphrasing what NM said).

Does anyone know if Hagenow is returning?

If this is true that’s pretty crappy. Can most of us on this board meet with Mingione and let him know he’s not SEC caliber coach?

I have a question about Marsh. Why would you even have this meeting with one of your top pitchers coming back? He was 4th on the team in ERA. Pitched really well against Vandy. And had a pretty good chance at being one of the top weekend starter candidates? Am I missing something here?

Since when does the body make you not an SEC pitcher? The only thing I care about is the arm and that dude led the team in appearances his first 2 years and had a mid 2.0 era during that stretch, had a few off outings this year and we are gonna shit can him for that???? This is fricken ridiculous and I say that mildly!!! So done with Minge and his BS!!! He Must be fired!!

All this hatred for Mingione, that is justified. But how about Barnhart? He is his buddy with the power to keep him around. If he doesn't get fired, remember who has let all this ride on all of these kids the last few years.
Same thing Sean Cain has been saying and you both are correct. To me the extension was a slap in the face to the Jordan family only the y are from what I’ve heard to damn classy to react the way most would.

I’m telling you guys. Mingione will be the head coach next year.

100%.... They wouldn't have let half the team enter the portal if they were going to bring in a new coaching staff..

I actually believe that half the team would come back if a change is made. I’ve supported Barnhartt as much as anyone has on this board. But he’s a damn fool if he brings Mingione back with all the turmoil that is in the baseball program right now.
