Kentucky Baseball 2022

If you’re o
I'd say he's well aware of the problems, what he thinks/does is the unknown. Maybe he'll dump NM at the moment of his choosing....maybe NM's sold him a bill of goods. What I'd like to know
Wonder what other schools would do if their baseball program had declined like this one and their AD refuses to do anything about? Would all their fans not go to any of the games, march around the AD house day and night till he did something, have an insider go to the board about unbecoming behavior of an AD, etc......???
I’m sure Mitch is a great guy albeit a trusting sort to a fault. Mingione playing him like a fiddle with his Christian gimmick and with him supposedly being some master motivational Guru. The irony of his doofey Monday morning motivations with Minge gimmick is how much some of them contrast with his actual actions.

The other irony is that he needs to focus A lot more on the well being of his own players and the crappy job he is doing himself and a whole lot less on trying to motivate the fan base that Follows their twitter. Most of us are doing just fine thank you very much. And just because your boss encouraged you to continue this charade by giving you an extension dosmt mean everyone else is falling for your phoney gimmick.

We play baseball in the toughest conference in cbb ...it's a big damn deal, or should be!

There’s a lot of value to pro guys in a left handed hitting 3rd baseman. We have 2 of them . Plastiak and Estep. There’s not enough room here for both unless one of them wants to compromise their potential value to pro scouts By playing 1st base or something ( estep is not a 2b ). There simply isn’t enough room for both of them here. My guess is that one of them will be in the portal eventually.

Bingo...that’s what I was getting at when I said where is Rowland, JDrum, Derek Terry, KSR, etc. I only see some comments but no questions directed to NM or Barnhart. Perhaps they have tried with no luck, either way at least say so.

I know there's been a lot of rumblings at South Carolina with Ray Tanner. I mean, you have two coaches that either were fired or retired after one bad season. Kentucky is still living in the time were the only thing that matters is basketball. Baseball is such an afterthought.
Not quite to that level but you can see what happens when basketball has ONE down year. Complete house cleaning.

And Church, who doesn't strike me as being much more than a 3B. Which is odd, because at one point in the Henderson era we seemingly never had a true 3B and just plugged random guys there, not that they did bad, they just weren't really recruited as 3B.

Tanner won two titles if I’m not mistaken. It’s hard to replace that kind of production. Same for Mainieri replacing Bertman.

Do you think Mitch talks/ interviews these transfers and has an idea of the internal coaching problems? Am I correct that it’s close to 60 players in 5 years?
Also wouldn’t he talk to the state HS coaches and even some of the big AAU programs?

We might not have enough players to field a team next year thanks to our sorry ass coach. I don't know how Mitch can't see he's in way over his head at UK.

I’m gonna say no way in hell Mitch talks to any of them. For the tiny programs as he sees them, all he cares about is GPA.

Sorry. My message wasn’t clear. What I meant was there were some USC donors not happy with Ray Tanner over the baseball coaching moves. One reason why Chad Holbrook was ran out. There’s still some on the fence about the direction of the program with Mark Kingston as the head coach.

I just know being born and raised Kentucky, if they made me AD my pride for UK would not let me rest till I got the right coach/manager for ALL programs. Barnhart obviously does not that kind of pride, just the kind of pride of doing the best job he can for himself. But for life long Kentucky guys, it is hard to take knowing that the baseball program could be great with the right leader. And it is hard to take knowing that the guy that suppose to make that happen is seemingly not even bothered with how bad it has fallen. I wouldn't have even went this long, I would have changed two years ago once I saw that the guy can't recruit good enough players to begin with. And losing so many players, you know Barnhart knew all these things but just turned his head and blew it off. Everybody knows Kentucky is a special place fan wise. All it takes is a winner, in any program, and the fans will be there.

The baseball stadium will NEVER be full until they stop tying in season tickets with Kfund points. The fact that I have gone several times and only allowed to buy terrace/lawn tickets when the entire seating area behind home plate was empty is another Mitch problem and that is a disgrace.

Wow someone needs to pin this post. This is exactly what I have said and thought. Haha thanks for saying it better.

The problem is those seats behind home plate are “sold out” as season ticket packages. Can’t buy tickets if they are not available to sell (as in a season ticket holder already owns them). Now they might not be sold out next year but for each season, including this past one, all those seats were claimed by season ticket holders. Even the club section on the 2nd level is completely sold out and there are no more than about 20 people up there for a regular game.

You know you can move anywhere you like after 2nd inning, but I get your sentiment.

I can tell you this past season those seats behind home plate were very sparsely populated. Some were for sale on Stubhub, at crazy prices I may add, but few actually occupied. That ridiculous block section was fairly full as was the grass area. Some of those home plate box seats were going for $150 a ticket for the Florida game. Crazy.

Kentucky absolutely screwed over the long time baseball ticket holders. My family had 7 tickets since 2008, rarely missed a game and even went to a lot of away games. Come new stadium time, we were left out because we didn’t give enough to the K fund. There were people who bought season tickets the final year at Cliff Hagan Stadium that got a higher priority for the new stadium then a lot of long term ticket holders.

I am hard pressed to believe that they didn't basically entirely botch the new stadium in every way possible. I already made the list of my own problems a time or two. haha

‘This is/was the problem. In the year leading up to the new ballpark UK made the rule that you had to have season tickets at the Cliff in order to get to select new seats at KPP. So you had a lot of people “jump in” who had high K-Fund rankings because of basketball/football tickets that never had baseball tickets get in line. It bumped a lot baseball ticket holders down the list when it came selection time. Those same peop still hold those seats but never go to a game (guy who sits next to me came to the first ball game and I have not see him since but according to UK his seats are still “claimed by someone”, as I attempted to expand my 2 seats to 4 with no luck).

I agree completely. It’s definitely an upgrade over the Cliff in terms of field and amenities. But there’s nothing special about it.

I haven't been to a ton of games in KPP and I actually only went to one series at the Cliff. It was the final series in the park and we played Florida. I think the atmosphere in that series at The Cliff was better than any atmosphere I've experienced at KPP.

The Cliff no doubt had better atmospheres. That place would rock during the certain games.

One thing I can definitely say about Mitch is he’s great at screwing over the average fan.

If you’re not in the grandstand seating, which appears difficult for the average fan, your seating options are horrible at KPP. The whole baseball setup is a joke. UK athletic department has done the sport zero favors.

I find it weird that it's un-Christian to Barnhart to serve beer to the average fan at a baseball game, but the box seats have a bar in them. As if the lord is checking paystub to see who can have an adult beverage at the game...

As far as him hearing about the chatter both on Twitter and here, if he isn't looking or hearing about this, then he is incompetent as well and that needs to be addressed by the school. Some of the behavior detailed on here is unacceptable and non-action is an endorsement of the behavior.

I think in normal years it isn't that difficult to get into the grandstand at KPP. That being said, it is stupid how it is setup. There are 7 sections that are chairback reserved. These are season ticket holders and such, sections 103-109. Sections 101, 102, 110 and 111 are 'Dugout Chairback General Admissions.' So, the average fan can sit in one of those 4 sections and have good seats.

The stupid part of this is that these are GA tickets and not assigned seats. So, you buy the GA ticket and it is first come first serve on where you sit in those 4 sections. The chairs, as I recall, have numbers and rows, so they could sell them normally, but they instead choose to sell them as full GA and not assign seating to people. So, if you want to get a chair seat you have to get there early.

All in all, 7 sections for season ticket holders (who often don't attend) and just 4 for walk-ups is dumb. I don't mind the berm and the limestone seating, but it is also silly to have so much of that when that type of seating is way less preferred to chairback.

Like I said... I have some big issues with KPP, and some of it is just in the daily administration/execution, but some of it is poor design.
