Jack Pilgrim just said on Sources Say …

Nope its called maximizing your profit.
Capitalism at its finest. They dont give 2 ishs about us fans and they shouldn't, its their livelihood thats in the balance or at least for now.
We need socialism….spread all the good players out evenly across NCAA and pay them all the same , smaller amount . We wouldn’t have these worries every offseason

Won't argue that they don't give 2 shits about the fans and the feeling is mutual from my perspective towards them. They have had long enough to decide.Nothing more will be said to change what they already know about their draft prospects. The only thing that is hurting is the roster for next season....either stay in the draft and get it over with so we can ATTEMPT to get some players from the portal or either announce they are back or going elsewhere. Not that hard to do for the drama Kings.

That's been KSR's main complaint since 2020-2021 season. "You can't win a championship with all Freshmen" meanwhile they're talking about how UK's biggest problem this season was that two of the most important players down the stretch were from Illinois St. and Delaware St.
That doesn't sound like the takes I've heard Matt Jones consistently make. My recollection is that he's always been enamored with recruiting rankings. So to Jones, a 5-star freshman is the best player you can have and the #1 high school recruit it "the number one player in college basketball."

I've wanted Cal gone for a few seasons, so if he is screwed with just 8-9 total players and zero experience to support this #1 recruiting class I'll just laugh and have a lot less stress this basketball season.

It all hangs on Oscar's decision whether UK has a respectable season or not.

Pilgrim has turned into a complete joke. Show me anything recently that he has said that turned out correct. He takes 45 minutes to say something that should take about 2 and contradicts himself repeatedly.

His podcast is unlistenable.
It’s like a card game. One guy posts a negative thread, it goes around the table and the same people cry and fume and then the hand is over and they deal out a new hand (thread) and it starts all over.

And he just doubled down, "I'm in the gym with these kids every day. Don't say I didn't tell you so" in reference to our class basically actually sucking.
Why in the hell should anyone believe him? At least 3 of these players are considered 3 of the top 5 players in the country. Even if they are not superstars, they are still better than the vast majority of players in their class. You act like whatever that guy says is 100% true.

His point the past few months has been you have to have 5 star freshmen and experienced players. Like what Bama had with Brandon Miller. If what you were saying is right he wouldn't be as worried as he sounds every day on the radio. UK has built the first super class of freshmen since Duke with Zion, RJ, and Cam yet we're all just pissed off because players want bigger roles.

I read the other day where we won a championship in 2012 with 8 scholarship guys. Yeah that's lucky, but it shows how random the tournament is.

Sounds like he's trying to draw attention to himself with dramatic statements like this. Think I'll wait to watch them play a couple games before declaring their abilities.

I mean in high school. They supposedly are better than the vast majority of high school recruits signed by college teams for this year's class. Why should I ignore all of the analysts who have especially praised Edwards and Bradshaw and believe Pilgrim?

I find it amusing in a small way how Cal appeared to be pushing Oscar out the door at the end of the season and now that it looks like nobody wants to join this team he is all about getting him back. He whiffed on a few kids his cocky self thought we had in the bag and didn’t expect that basically the entire potential returning team has bolted or done their best to get out of Lexington. I truly believe Cals ego will not allow him to see and deal with reality. It’s not doom and gloom negative nellies if we are simply discussing the true reality of the situation. It just really is that bad.

Yeah seems like he is doing everything possible now for Oscar to return.Of course that's only because every player has hit the road and he is desperate now.

I think he thought he would get Dickinson, Johnson and Reeves back and be good to go. Didn't work out

Jones is smart as a whip (to the chagrin of some), but I think he still overvalues 5-star freshmen – especially in today’s environment with the much greater value placed on perimeter shooting. I think a lot of people do this because of the history of excitement around recruiting and trying to land the #1 class without even really analyzing what that is worth today. Before OAD – whether by going pro or transferring – stacking #1 recruiting classes was the obvious way to build the best teams. But unlike football, in basketball classes are no longer stacked. It seems many, if not most, 5-star freshmen end up leaving after one-year.

But I think you make a good point about Brandon Miller and AL. Without the roster around him I don’t think Miller would have looked half as good. I believe the 5-star freshmen need the upperclassmen around them so they don’t have to feel the pressure of trying to carry the offensive load. On the other hand, I don’t think a top college team actually needs 5-star freshmen to succeed. In fact, I think it’s probably detrimental to winning to bring in more than 1 (2 at the most) OAD freshmen per year. With the portal the way it is now, it seems most of the 5-star freshmen either end up trying to go pro at almost any cost, or end up transferring after their freshman year. Maybe it’s better to try to catch their sophomore versions on the rebound, because their sophomore versions are much better players. Plus, many of the best college basketball players now enter the transfer portal every year. The best upperclassmen in the portal are generally better (i.e., have a bigger impact on winning) than the highest ranked incoming freshmen.

They haven’t even made it to campus. This guy is really bagging on our freshmen? Stop listening to this clowns podcast and giving him attention. That’s all he’s in it for
This here! How is he in the gym with them every day, when they haven’t even made it to UK yet? I mean, wtf? Can’t stand the clown.

How do you see it going?Starting to seem like all 3 are gone.
I've stated all along I'll be shocked if Oscar returns.

Livingston is still in communication with the staff but he was the guy I was told majority of the Bradshaw things about during the year and even mentioned in a thread during the season I'd not be surprised if he transferred. I still think that's in play too. Cal/Kentucky are going to be helpful to a player whether they want to be here or not. Not supporting/disagreeing, just sharing. I don't see Livingston returning if Oscar does. That would definitely surprise.

Reeves is in negotiations. Best way to get someone's attention when you fall on your ****ing face in a job interview is to be dramatic. My thing is of all the times to think of leaving...you'd leave when they actual brought in an NBA guy to help with the offense and player development aspects. Not just any guy either. But the type of guy who is deeply connected. You want to make the NBA and are threatening Calipari/Kentucky? I mean for all of Cal's faults--producing players who are ready for the NBA is at the bottom of the talking point list. They have told everyone they are playing some DDM but also "random" basketball which is how the NBA plays. That's based on player movement and ball movement. It's not 4 around 1.

I also laughed when hearing that Pilgrim referred to Reeves camp saying they don't want to be "Kellen Grady". Well he wasn't last year and this year will have better teammates and a more professional fitting offensive system? He got the ball last year and had chances to perform. Part of his selling point if he wants to be a Pro-be a guy who can stretch the floor and make shots. If he thinks he's going to be the primary ballhandler and be a PG-he's a delusional ass**** who needs to leave. That's NEVER happening at any level for this guy. Kentucky has faults as a program and a lot to be critical of-how they prep guys for NBA basketball is not it. How Reeves played last year and would be used isn't it. He's not some scared guy who got rattled and embellished an injury-when btw he was asked to do more than just stand in a corner.

When you are 23 and not good enough for the NBA Combine which remember is mainly filled with guys who don't sniff the NBA but want to usher demands to a program that gave you a platform, it's an interesting tactic. Good luck!

Jack Pilgrim is the Kamala Harris of covering Kentucky. He says a lot of words and spins the same theme around so much you actually think he's informed people on something. Then when he's completely incorrect which happens too often, he pretends he was actually right and something dramatically changed.

But he's got a job to do and works for a premium site now and business is good when you throw shit at a wall and do that enough, something will stick.
I can’t stand him. Dude is full of shit. He clearly knows very little. Especially for someone that’s so “close” to the program. He’s a turd.

Cal has allowed these players to hold the team hostage. He should have already filled these positions
This is the area that I agree with Oakhill. You can't operate the same way as in past with waiting for guys to make their decisions. You have to tell them if we find a fit in the Portal, we're going to get someone. If you want back-great, compete. If not-we'll help you by releasing you from LOI and not block anything you want to do.

You nailed the #1 issue. This is where Calipari has to adjust and improve. This isn't Shaedon Sharpe or Hamidou Diallo either. We're talking about 3 guys who have the decision of not getting drafted or hoping they get taken in the bottom of 2nd Round (not Reeves-he'd not be selected at all--Klutch is only reason Livingston would have a chance) and you are treating them like you can't pursue others? Hell Oscar was the one guy they talked to him/his camp about Dickinson about.

I don't know him personally so not going to judge him. Basketball wise, I just think of too many times he's been wrong when I knew something else and it is too much for someone who is going to be promoting themselves on a show called Sources Say. Either get better sources or sit on things until you find out more of what is actually going on.

Throwing a lot of wild stuff that has some truth but a lot of holes in the info and then tying it with opinion. Sadly, it reflects how media covers a lot of things nowadays. Facts are vital to get and important. That means talking to everyone, not one side on things and recruiting gossip is like the telephone game--wait until the story you start gets back to you and see how people have added their "touches" to it. LOL

But he's got a job to do. Really makes me appreciate the work Travis Graf has put in and how quiet he stays and fact he separated from that show. Everyone who has contacts hears things....but you sit on them and wait to make sure it's right or to see the holes get punched through them.
