The transfers have talent, the group seems better coached, and they look like they took S&C seriously this off season. I think they’ll get open against most SEC DBs, and the additions and Brown can all make defenders miss in space. Another healthy sign is if Key is your 3rd or 4th best receiver then you got a good group. His ceiling is too low to be a team’s 2nd best receiver.

Imo we're still focusing a little too much on getting barion touches. Makes it worse that he still cant consistently catch the ball. Add in his history of fumbles and it gets worse still. At least this year we're getting many of his touches on the jet which is way better than go routes.

Even so our offense looks way better when we just let the QB deal without forcing touches. Same thing last year. We have plenty enough talent in that room and a talented qb. Just let the guys play.

The guy had 2 touchdowns. His touches seemed about right to me.

People always only remember his big positive plays but somehow never remember all his big negative plays.

He also dropped a huge third down right in his hands and failed to convert a 3rd and 3 when he kept stretching his jet wide instead of cutting it inside. Now the latter wasnt entirely his fault because he should've never gotten that ball anyway.

Over his career he has a glaringly obvious problem with both drops and fumbles. He makes big plays a few times a season but massive negative plays several times a season always at crucial times. Hes a jr. He needs to clean up these issues because catching and ball security is solely on him.

The positives far outweighed the negatives. Some people only seem to enjoy negativity. Have a sun shiny day.

Maclin was a huge surprise, he was clearly a focal point of the offense with the expectations the defenses would key in on Key and Brown. The play he evaded about 4 tackles when Key got the holding penalty was really impressive. He'll be a huge boon for us going forward as teams will have to pick a poison at some point.

IMO Maclin is going to be huge this season

Imo hes our best wr.

No i see both. I get why fans love him. Hes like the baseball equivalent of adam dunn. Hit tons of hrs but mostly does nothing else except brown kills us with his ill timed fumbles.

Good news is barion has full control over his issues. Its just focus. Clean those up and he can be incredible.

Key dropping down the depth chart says a lot.
Yeah. I’ve honestly never been overly impressed with Key compared to what he “should be”. He’ll make the league based on measurables and solid hands but for his size, he should able to go up and get jump balls, make the physical in traffic catches across the middle on 3rd and critical, etc. Instead, he plays more like a finesse receiver that lacks the top end speed and shiftiness that those guys typically have

All that said, he’s an above average receiver. Glad he’s on our team. But compared to his ceiling and measurables, he hasn’t grown into what he could/should be. So the question is “why”? Timidness? He should be that physical type of receiver that it’s so hard to stop bc the DB is giving up so much size to him.

On watching the replay, he also fumbled once out of bounds and nearly let the ball squirt out of his hands on his td run/pass.

For someone so physically talented, these little things are beyond frustrating and just inexcusable.

This squad has enough depth at WR to take guys out when they drop a ball.

IMO that will make guys concentrate more on catching the ball!

Brown is electric but has bad drops.
