- Legal weed could raise $12B a year in taxes.

- Started "Stranger Things"- two eps in. Not sure the lass will stay in, but I love it as most any dude born in the late 70s/early 80s probably would. Lots of '80s nostalgia, specifically the mood, theme and cinematography. Reminds you of movies like Goonies, DARRYL, etc.

- Looking forward to some "Hard Knocks."

- So baseballs, how good are these two kids the Reds got from the Mets? Seems for all the talent the Reds have traded we sure as hell haven't gotten much back.

- Any NKY/Cincinnatians been to Wurst Bar in Mt. Lookout Square? Just grabbed a Groupon for it. If the lass isn't interested, will probably just give it to my dad who loves some German cuisine.

- Chaps my ass something fierce that Duke has become a go-to spot for these elites. I f'ing hate Bloat Capel.

- Picked this up for winter. Essential for the shaved noggin.

- Katy Perry at the DNC last week. :scream::fire::pray: Have mercy.

- Have a lot of fun stuff coming up in August- Brad Paisley concert, a wedding, fantasy football draft (which means drunkfest at the casino with a bunch of my buddies), trip to Boston. BUT also have a bunch of shit I have to take care of around the house and dealing with the heat and also my anticipation for fall.

^ Pay attention, friends- that is an example of some true randoms.

* Looking forward to the Olympics this week, simply to break the monotony of the arid wasteland that is sports in the summer. And it bears mentioning that our offseason this year is two weeks longer than it has been the past few years thanks to the early NCAAT loss. Brutal.

* Spent the last week at the beach. 30A. Miserably hot. Running in that heat every year at high noon (the only window I have unless I want to get up at 6:00 which is a big NO THANK YOU) is the closest to death I get. Brutal.

* Read Lindy's SEC Preview cover to cover. I am ready for some football.

Bloat Capel.

Yes, but Duke never gets in trouble with the NCAA. And Coach K is a saint. Unlike Cheatapari, who is the devil. At the cheatingest program in history.

-Unfortunate that Rogue didnt get to discuss proper bar etiquette with this guy:

Eugene "Nick the Blade" Gesuale, 73, a mobster known as the "Pittsburgh connection" for the real-life gangsters portrayed in the Oscar-winning movie "Goodfellas" died Thursday evening after he suffered a heart attack at Past Times Restaurant and Bar, in Ormond Beach. "He was having his customary Pinot Grigio, when he suddenly fell over," said bar manager David Ruiz.

http://www.news-journalonline.com/n...-goodfellas-gang-drug-ties-dies-in-ormond-bar

Further info not in the article: FBI SA Roger Greenbank once stated that "Gesuale is one gangster who has absolutely no redeeming qualities." Greenbank went on to mention that while under surveillance at his Mount Washington Condo, he witnessed Gesuale snorting coke with one hand while holding his dick and pissing off the balcony..

-Learn Cal, I bet he brings O back. Dude is crazy loyal to his peeps. Cal is also out hustling on the trail this year, maybe more than I can ever remember.

-I don't understand a nurse becoming a full time bar tender. Also don't understand bitching about patrons when you get paid to make them intoxicated.

-Cubs fans are the worst. <---this is not an opinion.

-I lose a little bit of respect for a fanatic if their fandom wasn't ingrained by their father. Especially if they decided to go against their father's allegiance. We weren't really given an option. *this excludes fans raised by a single mother for obvious reasons.

-Lol @ Rio. Aussies finally get moved in and have a fire in their dorms. During the fire the security guards loot their rooms for laptops and clothes. That said, I'm ready for them. Leggo.

Me, too. There are exceptions, of course. Have always found it curious that Geesefeeder went against dad when it came to MLB.

.

The Reds have actually gotten pretty good talent in return for their recent trades.

Mat Latos - Chad Wallach and Anthony DeSclafini

Alfredo Simon - Jonathon Crawford & Eugenio Suarez

Johnny Cueto - Cody Reed, Brandon Finnegan & John Lamb

Mike Leake - Kuery Mella & Adam Duvall

Todd Frazier - Brandon Dixon, Jose Peraza & Scott Schebler

Ardolis Chapman - Rookie Davis, Eric Jagielo, Tony Randa & Caleb Cotham

Jay Bruce - Max Wotell & Dilson Herrera

I think the guys in red will be real contributors on the Big League team in the next couple of years. Some already are.

As far as the Bruce trade goes, Herrara was the Mets top IF prospect and was expected to be their starting 2B next year… and he's only 22.

Wotell is a pitcher who was the Mets' #15 prospect.

They would've gotten more in return for Chapman if he hadn't decided to beat his girl right when they were getting ready to trade him.

The biggest mistake they have made so far was putting their eggs (and cash) in Homer Bailey's basket instead of Cueto's.

It sucks to be the fan of a small market team, but we missed our recent window. Its time for a real rebuild. That is what is happening. I expect Phillips and Cozart to be gone in the offseason, if not sooner.

I didn't mind Rogue's post, which is pretty much my take with most of his stuff.

Obviously, the theme was "don't be an inconsiderate prick," which sounds basic until you deal with the general population. I haven't in a long time, but could relate to some of it from my server days back in college.

I also think moving to the Keys and bartending for a few years was kind of a ballsy move. I couldn't have done it.

There are different ways to live life. We're all on our own track. I'm happy to hear a different POV.

- Watched the first two episodes of Stranger Things last night as well. Great job with the 80's cinematography and nostalgia pieces. Has a Goonies/Close Encounters of a Third Kind feel. Based on the reviews the storyline really picks up.

- Players report on Thursday and then it's go time. Whatever happens this fall happens I'm just glad that football is here. Like many I'm guarded this year but the fire is starting to burn some bc I don't know any better.

- It's amazing to me how detailed this the die hard national and regional football media types are, especially when it comes to covering UK. Here we are a bottom of the barrel program in the SEC and Chris Lowe was on Leach ystdy and he knows all of the ins/outs of our depth chart and individual players and gives you a good outlook. He wasn't bullshitting either.

I mean, do the top tier basketball media personalities know much about Miss State basketball? No.

- Other than the Block K & re-entry passes all I really ask for is that Kentucky is organized, well prepared and plays with an edge. Remember when the Cats played UT in Knoxville in 06. We lost by less than a td but dudes in orange jerseys were limping/getting carter off the field left and right. Woodward, Kelly, Jenkins, Tamme, Burton, Lyons, Pryor, etc, etc were all tough mother touchers. They were all close knit a well it seemed.

This group of junior class prima-donnas needs to grow up.

You've got to be some kind of dumb to hop on the bandwagon of a terrible team.

But, by all accounts, they have a fun stadium and cute uniforms. So, I mean, I get it. (phags). [eyeroll]

Me, too. There are exceptions, of course. Have always found it curious that Geesefeeder went against dad when it came to MLB.

My mom loved the Cubs and was a tomboy at heart growing up on the mean streets of Whiting, IN.

She knew sports and wasn't your typical soccer mom. I could legitimately play catch or shoot baskets with her through HS so aligning with her team wasn't as much a shot against my dad as it was admiration and respect for her.

So IDGAF what bothers anth, frankly. He can skip over my posts going forward because coming home from school and watching the Cubbies on WGN with Dena before dad got home was a cool part of my childhood. Sorry I'm not sorry.

Cubs game was fun. Grew up watching them on WGN too, I liked them but was never really a fan. I cheered for the Doc and Daryl Mets (snort Bros) and the Bash Bros.

I dare you to call Andre Dawson a pussy though.

Wrigley is what it is. Built in 1937, historic. Cubs fans were fine. They whooped up on the Marlins pretty good. Rizzo almost knocked two out, hit the wall twice for a double and triple. Guess he needs to get some gear.

And there you have it, people. drxman is a Cubs fan. You wanna fall in line behind that soldier in battle?? Go ahead, pal.

Umm, I never said I was a Cubs fan. Learn reading. Sounds like somebody bottomed out your brain.

You named one guy who is a legit MLB player...DeSciafini, and one who is showing he may be worthy but 1 year does not make a baseball...Duvall. Plus, he is 27. You might squeeze 3-4 yrs of good ball out of him if lucky.

Everyone above for Cueto is worthless. Pathetic. Horrible.

The others are good prospects which doesn't mean squat until you start to see MLB pitching.

In other words...you are clueless in regards to your post. TS. TFP.

-RV’ing it down on Douglas Lake in East Tennessee next weekend. Pretty pumped. #oldguy

-My sleeping and eating habits have been awful lately. Need to get in some kind of groove with both.

-The Bruce deal was fine. Whatever.

-Completely in football mode now. Can’t wait. Tons of stories coming out daily from all the major sites.

-Really interested to see how the running back rotation is handled. You wanna get Boom the ball more but he hasn’t shown that he can handle getting carries without breaking down.

-The new interlocking UK has grown on me. Picked up a Titleist hat with it.

-Florida and Mizzou for the road trips as of today.

-Local sports talk radio just isn’t for me. I get that I’m generally not their audience anyway but it’s just mind-numbing basketball talk right now. If you have a show and you’re talking starting five, mythical lineups, which year was better, etc., right now you’re just being lazy. Try harder.

My dad was born and raised in Chicago. Came here for school. He was a Cubs/Bears/Bulls fan. I don't care enough about the NBA or NFL to have a team. I pull for the Reds but I have a soft spot for the Cubs. Don't follow them or anything, just a soft spot.

Which leads me to this - when people use "my ____" to refer to their favorite pro sports team, I want to light my head on fire. God that's awful. Stop it

My dad actually became a big UK fan because of me. Not sure many folks can say that.

Also, if you grow up watching the same team on TV every single day, it's OK and understandable that you would become a fan of that team. Kind of weird to argue otherwise imo. #TAKE

I stand by my decision to be a Cubs fan which is hands down better than choosing to root for anything or any team from Ohio. Still pretty proud of myself for not hopping on any Ohio teams even though all my little friends were 30 years ago.
Well at least I've seen my team win a World Series. My parents who grew up watching the Big Red machine have seen them win 3 and my grandparents who were huge fans saw them win 4 but I guess I should have become a fan of a crappy franchise 300 miles away because they were on my cable tv. [thumb2]

I went to Chicago for my 8th grade school trip. Plus, I know a distant relative from Chicago. And my parents had cable television.

Huge, lifelong, diehard Cubs fan. Been that way my whole life, man.

You can't even bring up UKFB in here without bitching and moaning and hilarious jokes about how terrible we are for 3 straight pages...and we're considered the UK sports fan cognoscenti. I'm not sure what you expect. It's late July/early August.

The Cubs haven't won a World Series in 100 years. Cleveland hadn't won a title in any sport in 50 years. The Red Sox hadn't won the World Series since the Babe Ruth era. Leicester City wins the Premier League. Francis Ouimet beats Harry Vardon and Ted Ray in the US Open. American Pharaoh wins the Triple Crown after a 30+ year drought. Texas Western beats Kentucky. Kentucky tries to win 40 games in a season.

These are the stories that make sports special. Yes, we all have our teams, but we also love the game. But the aura and mystique and tradition of the games we watch make them that much more special.

You are so touching dumb it is amazing. Even for a bandwagon Tarheel fan. (insert Nova game winning shot here)

The Reds are stockpiling young, cheap talent. That is what you do when you rebuild, dumbass.

The have a lot of highly ranked prospects now. Some will pan out, some won't.

The trades added to that group. They weren't winning with the players they traded and couldn't keep them any longer. Some of the players they got in return will end up making it. The Reds will eventually overpay a few of them and trade a few others for prospects and will have a few years where they will be right in the thick of things again.

Which part of this don't you understand?

Please don't answer me and go get pumped instead.
