GYERO

The music in that show was so haunting. You just knew the only thing to expect was existential dread from the first minute to the last.

-Planning an event in DC? Staying near WH. Looking for the DC classic eats(not new age stuff), old school bars, and top 2-3 sight seeing tours. Recs appreciated.

Lurker here, but the wife and I just got back from DC earlier this week...Old Ebbit Grill was great, very cool vibe. We did try an Ethiopian breakfast joint that was VERY good FWIW.

-Highly recommend Library of Congress visit if you enjoy architecture at all...the inside is worth taking 15 minutes to walk thru/see! It also has Thomas Jefferson's personal library collection which was cool.
-Typical monuments were all good (Lincoln Memorial much bigger than I thought it would be). Construction going on with it though.
-Got a rec for Le Diplomate but didn't get there. Also heard anything down by "The Wharf" or "Yards".

It pleases me that cawood follows Tommy Chong.

I would Hawk Tuah straight into that womanā€™s red eye willy.

Anyone else leave work early today to imbibe in the sunshine and cold drinks? I could do without the lack of rain - I need to find an Ethiopian fellow to irrigate my estate - but this sunshineā€¦.mercy.

Pope is on John Wall's new podcast. Interview starts around 17:15. It's long, so don't bitch but here you go to save anyone scrolling.

Pope drops that their dog is named "Rupp". He's already beat John Calipari in the dog department, beleedat.

Video is keyed to the moment where he talks about the incoming players and their motivations.

Quite a change from the previous regime.

The Florida Panthers are in the middle of one of the greatest choke jobs in modern sports history.

Unbelievable... LOL

The Oilers have looked better in every single game, Florida was just riding the shit out of Bobrovsky in games 1-3. Game 4 broke something in that dude.

I still think Florida takes the cup in Game 7 because hockey has the weirdest momentum swings of any sport I've ever watched.

Edit : I stand corrected, Edmonton is just dominating the shit out of them now, almost seems inevitable. Sorry SWFL. Florida is a tough team to like.

Iā€™m definitely getting old bc when I first saw the Hawk Tuah video, my first thought was also ā€œdamn. I hope my daughter doesnā€™t ever go viral for something like thisā€.

Speaking of being a whore on the internet, Twitter is almost unusable these days. Itā€™s just getting worse too. For one, the For You feed is basically just porn and faces of death clips. And yes I get how algorithmā€™s work. But I donā€™t want to see that shit when Iā€™m eating lunch in a chipotle. The video of the dude getting run over and decapitated is gonna sit with me for a while. You basically canā€™t even open that app in public anymore.

As much shit as I give Mags, his show is basically unlistenable without him. Iā€™ve probably heard 30 combined minutes this summer and itā€™s just really hard to get through. Idk how they havenā€™t been able to groom some other hosts into bsā€™ing about randoms in a clever and funny way over the years, but they havenā€™t. Drew is good online but seems pretty uncomfortable on the radio. Shannon struggles when heā€™s not playing the smarmy 3rd wheel. And Ryan lemond is Ryan lemond.

Really hope Joe Balognas new owners keep the wings the same. Iā€™ve said for years they have the most underrated wing in lex. Not the biggest, but absolutely the best batter/Buffalo sauce. Will make me very sad if those go away.

Is ā€œnot like usā€ the best combination of diss track/banger of all time? ā€œHit em upā€ is in contention but tupacs not on it enough imo.

If you haven't listened to KSR on Mondays with Myron "Black Jones" Medcalf, you're missing out, imo. He isn't Matt Jones, of course, but a reasonable facsimile to get through the summer. The rest just shows why Matt Jones can take a whole summer off and no one can say a word about it to him.

Pretty jealous, tbh.

Never understood listening to someone I wouldnā€™t respect in real life, giving me their opinion on anything, much less if theyā€™re irritating.
Everything you need to know about sports is either on here or thrown at you through algorithms on social media. Quick read and youā€™re up to date without being annoyed by idiots.
Someone should make the first rule of GYERO applicable for every media outlet. Culling of the herd, ATKOT.

Limited to being on the water before daylight for bass fishing until around 9:00 or catfishing at night. Quite warm either way.

No new children this week so thatā€™s good. Hard enough remembering the names of the ones I know about as Iā€™m getting old.

- Nice little 72 hour trip up to Philly. Daughter got to see the history stuff, I got to mark a ballpark off my list. Not a place I need to visit again, unless it's for a specific game/event, but definitely worth it to see the highlights, eat some good food, etc. Stayed in the center of the action, save for the art museum, which we walked(!) to on a 95-degree day. By the time we got there, we were all too exhausted to even climb the Rocky steps. Walked around to a side entrance instead.

- Ordered Phillies tickets for last night's game before learning that it was a Cole Hamels Appreciation Night. Everyone in the crowd got replica 2009 NLCS rings, and they had an on-field ceremony before the game. Never cared much about Hamels (or the Phillies, for that matter), but it was cool to be there for the tribute. And VERY cool to be in attendance when guys like Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton were introduced. The biggest ovations were for Charlie Manuel and, surprisingly, Jamie Moyer.

- The rest of the experience was about what you'd expect in Philly. The crowd booed the umpires before the game even started, some 10-year-old kids yelled "SUCKS" after every Diamondback was named in the starting lineup, the Phillies' starting pitcher was booed mercilessly, the aforementioned 10-year-old kids kept chanting "_________'s a bum" every time a D-back stepped to the plate, etc. Nice ballpark, but glad it's off the list. Not one I need to revisit.

- Sat in the Philly airport this morning watching a ton of clips I'd missed this week from basketball practices, interviews, footage of the team visiting the Ronald McDonald House, etc. Just can't get enough of this bunch right now.

Buzzbait in the morning/evening. Plastic worm in between. Always works for me. May even toss a plopper here and there but I'm a huge plastics guy.

This guy has lived the life of 30 normal men. Legend in every sense of the word.
Is there a more worthless job today than an MLB umpire? Balls and strikes could be automated. All close plays could be quickly reviewed. Frankly, the only reason to have them would be to make a call on a check swing and be the first line of defense when players get in a fight.
Why do baseball & hockey use organ music during interludes as they do?

Coincidence?

Not sure, but I have a VST plugin that emulates the mighty Wurlitzer 216 Theatre Organ, for my Presonus Digital Audio Workstation software (that I use to record music at home), and it's patched into a 500 watt Behringer amplifier. So, I like to crank that f***er up at about 7:30 on a Sunday morning, open the windows, and give the neighbors a treat...

ala...

(also, it started with hockey, not baseball.)
